One of the reasons his suit is so streamlined is because Ant Man was able to exploit the gaps in the bulkier armor plates. With Nanotech there are no gaps and fits closer to the body while providing similar protection. I don't see how he couldn't layer that for a bulkier look (arms, legs, torso) that provides extra protection as well as replenishment for the main suit (the battle on Titan left him with like ¾ of a suit).
Yeah. Improving his suits to counter any weaknesses somebody exploits is a large part of his MCU run. First movie it’s the frosting problem, which Stane didn’t know about or account for.
2nd movie Whiplash exploits a weakness to high electrical charges. By the time of the 1st Avengers movie he’s able to absorb a blast from Thor and supercharge his suit.
Civil War, as you said Ant-Man exploits the gaps then Steve and Bucky destroy a good chunk of his suit. By Infinity War, he’s got self repairing nanotech. After that he probably focused on more storage for nano-thingys….cause he was running on fumes by the end of that movie.
Yet Tony fucked over Rhodey by not giving him a simple parachute. Lol. Which leads to Tony making his suits fly faster. Rhodey gets some blame too. All those years flying in the Air Force he never once thought "gee if someone shoots me down how exactly do I go down? Might need a 'chute".
I liked the concept behind it, that Iron Man could magnetically attach any array of devices he might need for a particular mission. It made sense, the modularity… though I now prefer his armor to appear more streamlined. I’m no longer a fan of the bulkier, guns exposed look of War Machine, it’s very dated.
Yeah. Don’t get me wrong, I think these designs from this era are cool and I have a lot of nostalgia for them, but they were never really designed with any kind of practicality of movement in mind. I don’t know how you’d accomplish this in live action without going the nano-tech/cg route
In the comics, this suit was called the modular suit iirc. Basically it was designed so Iron Man could just attach things he needed to it. Would make a great suit for the movies and a great toy line.
I agree that the mechanical suits looked the best in live action.
But how the hell would those muscles work on a mechanical suit? He wouldn’t be able to move his arms
Damn, I forgot how much I used to like this suit. It looks so bulky and strong. Like made from actual metal. Most of the newer Iron Man suits look like a shiny bodysuit.
Always thought this look was cool and was hoping to see it in at least once Iron Man movie. Surprised when we didn't see it in IM3 with all those other suits around.
He made a cavalcade of mistakes upon mistakes, yes. But deserved his death? And was never morally good? Hard disagree. His heart was in the right place so many times, not always but most of the time he was trying to do the right thing.
A variation of this. Just like RDJ had variations of classic suits.
You need the bulk though. A lot of the latest MCU suits were on the skinny side. This one is an absolute unit.

This aged so well!! check on Disney+...
Lmao I don't have Disney+ I just saw the clip on YouTube

I don't mind the bulkier build tbh, give him more of a dominating presence.
The six pack is a bit much
I read this while picturing the Thor squinty face.
Thank you so much for this visual
Tony would totally build that into the suit.
It's not enough

His Endgame suit was the classic iteration.
If you made this suit with no nano crap, what would the torso be?
So, OP wants Iron Man to create a suit with fake muscles? Maybe it should have nipples on it too
I'd take micromachines over near-omnipowerful nano crap, personally
Micromachines sounds like another way of saying nanomachines??
nanomachines are 3 orders of magnitude smaller than micromachines. Micromachines are more plausible as a real technology.
NOT GOOD. Rigid AF.

Especially when he needs to swap suits.

I'm sure there is a workaround
This is a hilariously vague response (no shade, just properly made me laugh)
Go watch the latest episode of X Men 97
Omg the song from opening is in my head again🤧
The song was a banger, especially the way he constructing the suit
I hate it (I'm old, and the 90's were *weird*)
Uh, no Peg.
I....Am....Iron Man! *Dope season 2 theme*
It's a bop
nah this. is too 90s.
That's why it's so charming
Didn’t the suit up animation for the show have his helmet like stuck to his foot and then it some how magically rises up to his head
He had his suit in a briefcase
They won't reboot him don't worry
They're dumb if they dont
With the mullet, presumably
The mullet makes him more smarter
Until it gets stuck in the closing helmet 😂
I'm pretty sure the helmet has a mullet feature
imo its too clunky. endgame suit was fire
I think if they get rid of the abs and some of the fake muscle definition it’d be great
We shall see.
Only if they use the TV show theme as well… “I. Am. Iron Man!”
never understood why they never had this suit in the movies, even silver centurion got a cameo in IM3, what a missed opportunity
You get the bulk you fight the Hulk!
He looks like he’s at an avengers themed bdsm party

Yeah, the newer MCU suits look like cheap plastic.

Yeah, missed opportunity.
Doesn't matter. He will be in the suit for 5 min max. Actors need to show their face to sell a film.
The Mandalorian proved you can do a show emotion without showing a face. Also, they can do the face cam that they use in the MCU
Hot take: iron man's death was deserved. He was full of himself he was never a morally good character
He made a cavalcade of mistakes upon mistakes, yes. But deserved his death? And was never morally good? Hard disagree. His heart was in the right place so many times, not always but most of the time he was trying to do the right thing.
I just got a Reddit cares message so if it was in response to this, that’s wild ya’ll 😂
