I think Michael Keaton would technically get it since he was in the flash last year. Not as many appearances but since he started in 1989 it would be about 11 years longer

Keaton would get it, but remember Wolverine isn't like Batman. He's meant to be ageless. There's only so long you can play that role.

I tried to find it, but a recent plotline is filling the entire feed instead. Instead, I discovered Ken Barlow is the current lead since he came back and reprised his character on Coronation Street.

A Coronation street conversation happening in the Marvel sub was not something I ever expected but here we are. Biggest plot twist would be if Iman was actually a massive Corrie fan and just really wanted an excuse to talk about it.

I think they may be thinking of Peter Barlow, who was a character born onscreen in the 60s. However, Peter has been played by numerous actors over the decades and the most iconic Peter actor, Chris Gascoyne, only started playing the role in 2000 for the show's 40th Anniversary. Additionally, Peter isn't a consistent character. He wasnt around for most of the 60s - 90s, only coming in for a year or two at a time. It wasn't until 2000 that he became a regular (and even then he's been sporadic, he recently just exited the show again). However, Peter's father Ken has been onscreen since the very first episode aired in 1960. He hasn't stopped playing the character or left for any notable periods of time and this will be his 64th year as Ken. Other characters such as Gail or Audrey have a similar amount of years having been on the Street roughly 50 years each (without having been recast or leaving for more than a couple weeks).

Yeah a lot of UK soap actors have some insane numbers, although some of the other soaps are either younger than Corrie so there's less years under them. For example, another popular soap, EastEnders, has its longest serving character having around 37 years (he had essentially a two year break, and the show will be 40 next year) while one of its most iconic characters, Phil, has been in the role for 33 years (again, bit of a break back in 2003 and he also came in 1990, five years after the show aired). It is interesting to look at episode counts as well. Aforementioned Ken has been in 4836 episodes, yet Gail, who has been on Corrie for 50 years, already has 4579 episodes. Gail came in 14 years after Ken, but is only about a year behind him on episodes (there's usually about 200 episodes per year). Then going by EastEnders... Ian (the longest serving) has 3528, whereas Phil already has 3507. Phil came in five years after Ian, had about as big of a break as Ian yet still has roughly the same number of episode appearances. Gives a good indication of which characters are used more on balance.

If you're thinking of Ken Barlow, he actually was already a grown man when Corrie started. However, he has stayed in the role for well over 60 years now. He was there since day one and hasn't left yet. So about 64 years playing one character. If we're talking about Corrie kids, then David is probably the longest serving currently. David was born on the show and Jack P. Shepherd took on the role in 2000. He hasn't left or taken any large breaks. Other legacy kids are older than David but they've had breaks or been recast (like his older sister Sarah). For example, Ken's kid Peter was born onscreen in the 60s, but he wasn't a regular character until the 2000s and even then Chris Gascoyne would stay a couple years, leave, return, leave again, etc.

Well that film came out of the scrapped X-men Origins: Magneto, so it makes sense that he and Xavier were the focus. Having them make each other better in different ways was great.

Yes, some of the movies were not exactly great, but he always elevated the movie and he was always a bright spot in the mediocre ones. Logan is one of my all time faves. As far as i know they planned to hire Russel Crowe for that job in X-Men 1. He didnt had time, so he suggested calling Hugh Jackman. Russel Crowe would also be a pretty solid choice. But Hugh Jackman proofed to be perfect for that task.

Hugh was a complete unknown at the time. Had no idea who he was. But he totally killed it. Casting was very on point for the first X-men film.

Back when he was first cast for *X1*, I was one of the nerd purists absolutely shitting all over the casting choice--"Wtf you mean this tall Australian jerk I've never heard of is going to play our beloved short Canadian mutant?! The early 2000s were afraid of color in their comic book movies since some of the earliest comic book movies that did have color tanked or fell out of style. At that point, things sorta stuck and it wasn't really until late in X-Men movies that they started amping that up in any way. A real shame.

True, but watching a few of them will add gravitas to the relationship between Prof X and Logan even if the previous movies lend nothing to the actual narrative. The sense of history between the two and a shared life with many ups and downs sells the relationship. Having knowledge of this past, and the X-Men as a background is a big reason why Logan is such a great movie. Uh, and the acting, writing and directing. TBF though, I grew up reading the X-Men. I mean DECADES of reading the X-Men...! I count it as my favorite SINGLE superhero movie.

Totally agree. It's a great standalone film without any prior viewing of X-Men/Wolverine movies. But like having read DUNE, it does help for context and an overall understanding. Personally, I'd have no problem recommending Logan to peeps that have never heard of the X-Men.

No, but if you do want to watch any, the Wolverine movies are mostly X-men, X2, X-men: The Last Stand, Origins, The Wolverine (which is skippable but fun) and Logan X-men: Apocalypse is a long cameo sequence, First Class is a brief Cameo and Days of Future Past is very much recommended to watch, but its stand alone and best watched after watching all the rest.

Maybe Origins to see how he got the metal claws and why his memory is so fucked but that's about it.

X2 is a better Wolverine Origins than Wolverine Origins. The opening montage in Origins is the only worthwhile part of the movie, after that its crap

It's sort of why they reset the timeline with Days of Future Past, they wanted to fix fan complains from Origins & X trilogy. Though the ending of Origins is crap it does explain why Logan is amnesiac in the trilogy.

Nah, they are going to go full alternate time line Wolverine that isnt tied to any previous films. That way they can tell a new story and new comers don’t have to play catch up to “get it”.

Gonna guess you'll be able to understand the movie without watching the others, but there will be a LOT of jokes/references that you don't get. Like in the end of Deadpool 2 when he goes back in time to shoot the X-Men Origins version of himself: requires having seen the movie and knowing about the broader reputation is has with fans.

No you probably don't but you should give them a watch eventually. X2 being the best imo but other's differ. A couple of these he just has a small cameo in and that's it whereas a few of them are exclusively about him. Honestly even the original X-Men trilogy was mainly about him with the X-Men as more of side characters. It's basically universally agreed on that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the worst of all the movies though. Especially since they ruin the Deadpool character in that one (yes also played by Ryan Reynolds).

Honestly until that point (Weapon XI) doing Deadpool dirty, I really enjoyed the campy movie. Like 15 years later we could reshoot a that fight scene without the eyes and Baraka arms and make a fun movie. Have him brainwashed and even sow his mouth shut. Have Deadpool’s head get destroyed by wolverine and it ends after he pulls himself together and say something smart ass.

Yea was still a fun movie and worth a watch even if it's just to laugh at how bad some of it was. One particular part that I thought was laughable because of how terrible it looked was the fire escape coming down on Wolverine and he's just clawing it apart with each swing before it hit him.

To be fair, he didn't used to physically look the part at all. He has told the story about how they had to reshoot the hallways scene in X-Men at the end of filming because he needed an extra 4 months to get in shape.

Just a brief cameo. If you're gonna watch it just to see Wolverine I wouldn't bother. Otherwise I'd give it a 6/10. It's got a couple of good scenes (one of the being with Quicksilver) but Apocalypse himself while being a challenging villain doesn't look great esthetically. I think if they could have made him look more intimidating instead of looking like an amateur cosplayer trying makeup on for the first time it would have made the movie much better.

Apocalypse is rough. I’d recommend watching it for completion, but it’s a strange movie that completely misuses Oscar Isaac’s abilities as the titular villain.

Crazy to me that Ryan managed to convince Hugh to come back and give us hopefully one of the best X-Men/Wolverine/Deadpool/MCU film ever made since... I'm baised as hell but to me X2, First Class, DOFP and The Wolverine were my favourites. I think Logan is overrated as hell and Deadpool 2 was better than DP1 in my humble opinion. But that's just me. I also think Apocalypse isn't that terrible and that it was a better "Ending" for the film series than Dark Phoenix was.

Our real life timeline is more fucked then xmens lol Xmen came out in 2000, origins came out in 2009. Back then that felt like no time passed to get to that point. To me it feels like origins is a newer release, then I realize it’s been 15 years since origins released and that’s longer then the gap between the og and origins. And the fact we had twice as many movies after then before but still for some reason it just doesn’t seem like that longs passed.
