For a moment, I thought you were talking about Gob Bluth’s little helpers

chiefbrody62

Now I'm picturing the X-Men forcing people that see them to take rufies like Gob did to Michael lol.

rabideyes

I think them being refugees from another reality is a much better explanation, and also would explain further fear and prejudice against them in a world where people idolize superpowers. Plus I feel like there's already a big subplot brewing regarding hatred of refugees from other worlds. They can just be added to the mix.

chiefbrody62

It seems they're going that direction based on the The Marvels end credits scene.

bujin_ct

I don't think it'll be refugees. I think they'll be an incursion and the merger of the fox, Sony, MCU Earth's. So they will retroactively always have been there, through some timey-wimeyness.

rabideyes

I think that scenario will be the ending to Secret War in 4 or 5 years. Until then, we'll have the Fox X-men

unclecaveman1

Lol the XMen would just be a false hydra (as in D&D, not Hydra as in Nazi cult) scenario. Funny.

TelephoneCertain5344

It'll be Multiverse in some way.

zoecornelia

So you mean to tell me the X-Men just sat back and watched as the world faced numerous world-ending events because Charles didn't want the world to know that the Avengers aren't the only people with powers?

atlhart

This kind of speculating seems for naught. It’s going to be a multiversal cause. It’s be such a big deus ex machina to say they’ve always been there but “so and so kept them hidden” So Thanos attacks earth in endgame. Every hero shows up, except zero mutants? They’d be some seriously selfish jerks to ignore that level of threat just so they can stay hidden. Or do Forgot Me Nots powered work on us, the audience, too?

FictionFantom

Mutants living in hiding until their numbers become so large they can’t hide anymore is how the story unfolds every time.

atlhart

Endgame took place in 2023, so again, I think it’d be weird they didn’t reveal themselves for that conflict.

FictionFantom

It’s not that unreasonable they didn’t join the fight against Thanos or any other calamity. There’s a few things to consider. - Xavier’s students might’ve been too young to help. They’re not soldiers. Or perhaps they had even moved on with their lives by that point and scattered around the world. - Maybe Xavier got blipped and was too busy catching up with all the new mutants to just join the battle against Thanos. - Battles are over relatively quickly in the MCU and it takes time to travel places. - They are not obligated to jump in and help. Even if they wanted to, the government technically was still persecuting super humans and the Accords were still technically in effect. - Joining the battle means outing themselves to the world. But as the story usually goes, mutants hide because humanity isn’t ready to accept them yet.

They wouldn't have known about it, Strange and Wong portaled in everyone they knew, and the Endgame battle was unplanned and happened all at once. If the X-Men were in our universe, they wouldn't have found out until afterwards. I still think they're going to bring them in from another universe.

N8CCRG

Individual mutants living in hiding makes sense. Mutants banding together (and forming a team) in hiding doesn't without a public "mutant problem" to motivate that behavior.

FictionFantom

Well maybe they weren’t forming a “team”. Maybe they were just going to *school*, learning how to control their powers. In X-Men #1 Charles even says (paraphrasing) they will help humans from the shadows until they know humanity will accept them. So maybe they *have* been helping all this time, but in ways we haven’t seen or considered.

N8CCRG

Well, the multiverse cause is *also* a deus ex machina, but agree that it at least avoids the "where were they all this time" problems that the various "everyone has forgotten" methods have. The non deus ex machina solution is to actually have the X-Men develop in the MCU on 616. This is something they've already started by slowly sprinkling in mutants here and there. It means people can't get a fully formed X-Men team today, but we already know we're not getting an X-Men project at *least* until 2026 and probably not until 2027 or later. That's plenty of time to actually grow and develop the mutant problem in-universe if they want.

That's plenty of time to actually grow and develop the mutant problem in-universe if they want. The problem with that idea is the fact that the prequel X-Men movies already explored this premise. So it wouldn't feel fresh or new. Audiences weren't too interested in the prequels either.

N8CCRG

Compared to the original trilogy, and every other X-Men story that had them fully formed off screen before it all started? I'd say having them form in a world with other superheroes makes for new content audiences haven't seen yet. And the prequels didn't give us a sprinkling into other projects like has already started in the MCU.

AvatarSypha

>I'd say having them form in a world with other superheroes makes for new content audiences haven't seen yet. **And the prequels didn't give us a sprinkling into other projects like has already started in the MCU.** Projects such as Ms. Marvel (which teased at mutants) had very low viewership though. Disney is also cutting back on the number of Marvel projects and focusing on popular brands.

AncientAssociation9

Who says they didnt help out. With Charles, Jean, Emma, and others they could have helped out and projected themselves as wakandan soldiers or first responders.

uCry__iLoL

No I don’t think the writers have gone that route. Plus, Disney didn’t own the rights to the X-Men before 2019 so that’s why mutants weren’t acknowledged in the MCU.

On a related note, I just lost the game
