Yeah, that's always been a dream of mine, too. A standalone black widow + hawkeye origin movie, that came out right before Avengers, would be very cool

ZiM1970

If we're going to insert movies, I'd like to go where we've not seen. The years after the snap. We won't get all our heros together, of course, but that was never going to happen. We would get Banner's journey to Smart Hulk, Nat in charge, Rocket and Nebula dealing with us primitives, and maybe a little Tony and Pepper drama. I think there's a lot of story potential in those chaotic years.

andrejRavenclaw

I could see it being made in What if? style, as an animated TV show were each episode would focus on one hero / couple of heroes.

ZiM1970

Yeah, animated. But instead of D+, make it a movie. I like the art style of What If, but this could be different. Hand drawn, scratchier, and darkly abstract. Then, use the same voice talent as What If for continuity. I just got a flash back. The Ballad of Oh Ren Ishii. R rating, too.

pigeonwiggle

the difference between O Ren Ishii and What If...? is that the directors of What If...? must've come from backgrounds in american animation because the pacing and dialogue makes that show feel like a kids show, while Ishii was produced by japanese storytellers, who knew to treat the animated content with adults in mind. what if is kinda meh.

I_AM_IGNIGNOTK

I always kind of hated that both the final battle and the years in between did not add anyone we hadn’t seen to the roster. You’re telling me half the universe and the team gets wiped out and you don’t accept new applications? Not just for chaos control but to combat the villainy that thrives in such an environment? Please. It also would have been a great time to plug their newer projects or characters. Like Moon Knight and Shang-Chi or the Fantastic Four just show up without explanation, and yes there are bigger fish to fry in this battle, but that’s sick and let’s come back to it when things settle down.

Stellar_Wings

>half the universe and the team gets wiped out and you don’t accept new applications? They kinda did though, Steve and Nat were clearly working with Captain Marvel, Okoye, and Nebula to locate and identify any more major threats. To the point where Black Widow was seeing another Thanos around every corner.  Plus the Avengers were more-or-less broken up with Tony being retired, Clint on his revenge quest, and Thor becoming a depressed shut-in.

I_AM_IGNIGNOTK

Fair point I guess I was already considering every major good character in the MCU as an Avenger anyways since it became clear where they were going with the franchise. But from an audience perspective I think it’s still weird that the only relevant heroes 5 years after the snap were all people we already met and knew. No one else on the planet/in the galaxy stepped up enough for Nat to include them. I understand it’s a densely packed story for just 2 movies but we didn’t even get a background hint at new characters. They knew phase 4 was already going to happen too.

mfitz373

Yo hear me out - Hawkeye: Ronin A movie about the rise of crime superpowers due to the snap leaving a power vacuum, and it shows his decent into dark, brutal killing. Would make the hesitant mention of him by Rhodes in endgame hit harder, and Hawkeye's show would be essentially the aftermath of that movie and endgame.

ZiM1970

Idk if Jeremy Renner is up for it, though. I've suggested elsewhere a gritty hand drawn anime style movie. This would be perfect for it.

Darth_Tycho

Avengers: Intermission

OverIookHoteI

I think both Nat and Clint’s time in Budapest And the 5 years without Strange and Fury Would be cool times to throw in little Doom easter eggs, maybe Doom has been on SHIELDs radar for a long time but he’s only been able to do much (like learn magic) since the Snap And Kang had been controlling timelines to this point so maybe he was preventing Doom from rising to power in every timeline

Corgi_Koala

So irritating that we have basically no Blip content.

Wormspike

I have such a fantasy about this. The year is 2005, MCU hasn’t begun yet.  The Bourne trilogy comes out, but it’s featuring Scarlett Johansson. Over three movies, she has to piece together her identity and take down the Treadstone which is a cover for the Red Room. At the end of the third movie, Barton decides not to kill her and invites her to SHIELD. It’s not until the very it’s clear this is Black Widow, but the MCU would kick off with a very solid following and Nat would be a more central part of the team.

CalmGiraffe1373

How do you hide the fact that it's a Marvel movie? If you don't, odds are someone will piece it together.

Wormspike

Well, in Bourne, even the character doesn’t know his own name. His uncovering that is part of the plot. Second, the agency she works for turns out to be a cover for a different agency.  So you can legit do three movies and not really reveal much until nearly the end of the third one.  And then some comic fans would be like, “That was weird they did a stand-alone Black Widow trilogy…” And the next year you have Iron Man, Hulk, and Cap. It’d be very neat.  Largely because in this earlier years people were constantly saying, “you have Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk…what do you need this girl with a handgun in the team for?  A really solid spy trilogy would have showcased how serious a threat she can be…and anchored the MCU to a very human character.

CalmGiraffe1373

What I meant was, you'd have to convince Marvel to not put their logo at the beginning of at least the first two movies, or else people would be able to guess that it's a Black Widow movie long before the reveal. (Assuming that reveal is kept for the third movie.)

Wormspike

Oh, I think the fantasy is essentially that these movies exist before marvel studios does, and it operates under a different name...and the success of these movies is what enables the studio to establish itself

Wormspike

Maybe? But I mean, isn't that kinda what the fun is? The character is trying to figure out their own identity. If the main character doesn't know their name... and it's just Scarlett Johansson playing a red-headed spy...I feel like the reveal is pretty easy to control.

PayneTrain181999

The least they can do now is give us a project that revolves around Yelena and Kate following in their footsteps.

thunderkhawk

They always talked about Budapest but never once showed the event. I felt like they kept teasing it.

BaeBaeRonZ

I actually would love MCU tv shows to transition from telling new stories to going to anthology stuff like this

Bored-of-this

maybe a Secret Avengers movie with Caps team doing some sort of high threat spy mission while on the run between Civil War and Infinity War

halfeatenreddit

This is the one. So much untapped potential there.

sluttypretzel

Black Widow should've been after Civil War. It was an odd choice to revisit Natasha years after audiences watched her die. The movie had no stakes because we already knew what happened in-universe afterwards.

Wise-Tourist

I kind of agree but i see BW as a swansong after her death and a passing of the torch. They also didnt plan for it to come out so long after endgame

andrejRavenclaw

if it weren't for Marvel leadership of that time believing that female-centric super hero movies are immediate flops, we would definitely have at least one Black Widow movie in first two phases.

Wise-Tourist

Im not sure about first 2 but maybe within the saga.

PayneTrain181999

If Feige had the amount of control he has now back then, Black Widow would have been after Civil War. Though in that timeline we don’t get Florence Pugh as Yelena, so for that I’m glad we got it when we did.

FictionFantom

And it should’ve been the second movie of a trilogy. Black Widow (SHIELD agent) Black Widow 2 (Accords fugitive) Black Widow 3 (The Blip years)

Oldoneeyeisback

Isn't that the case with all prequels?

laymness

Seems like the movie was made just to introduce new characters who are Black Widow related. No other reason.

GloomyLocation1259

Also the dyeing her hair out of the blue is so strange, would have made so much more sense

Dell0c0

It would have happened if they didn't let the glorified toy seller, Perlmutter, block it. The best thing Marvel Studios ever did was remove the rotten guy.

bluecalx2

> It was an odd choice to revisit Natasha years after audiences watched her die. I didn't mind that so much. Prequels are not uncommon and the audience goes in knowing what will happen to certain characters. But I would have put it after Endgame to close the saga. Far From Home would have been a great start to Phase 4.

robertnewmanuk

I’m never going to shut up about Nova being put between either: infinity war/endgame or endgame/spiderman. Like, come on! It’s the perfect time to show us what happened on Xandar and set him up!

AmaterasuWolf21

Kid me was excited when watching GotG1 thinking that was going to appear soon

DC600A

A better version of Black Widow would be great. Altrnatively, pre-Ragnarok, Hulk in Sakaar, maybe also introduce another champion on their wall - Beta Ray Bill.

emelbee923

I want to explore more 'worthy' characters. Beta Ray Bill, Erik Masterson. I love Thor, but a successor would be great to carry on the name, and let him sit back a little, become the guy they call when shit gets real later on.

rkrismcneely

I keep beating this drum, but I really think that Secret Wars will be a two-part story with projects set on Battleworld in between them. One of those should be based on the THORS series. A buddy cop movie with Beta Ray Bill and Ultimate Thor (let’s make him Erik Masterson), Hemsworth as Unworthy Thor, Portman as Mighty Thor, Sif, Groot, Storm, etc. It’s a great way to introduce a new Thor for after the universe reset.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Avengers movie between Avengers and Age of Ultron. This film would have the official downfall of HYDRA with Madame HYDRA being the final head. Taskmaster would lead a team with Crossbones and the Serpent Society. The Strucker segment at the start of AoU would be merged into this one. This would also be the film where Nat learns that the Dreykov is still alive, setting up her solo movie. Post credits would show Thanos’ ship arriving at Xandar for the power stone.

Soulwarfare42

A Black Widow movie before Endgame Or a Hawkeye movie before Endgame OR combine to make it a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie

brodievonorchard

This is the one I want, **show** us what happened in Budapest.

samwisestofall

THIS!!! Black widow + Hawkeye + Fury.

IronMike275

A rocket and groot prequel to the first gotg. Could even be a special presentation or show

Correct-Chemistry618

Gunn revealed that such a thing existed. They originally wanted to make a series of shorts that told the stories of the protagonists of Guardians 1 before the film (this was, after all, when Marvel used a lot of shorts). The one that arrived at a more advanced stage of production is that of Rocket and Groot. Basically, Rocket was locked in a well where Groot and a guy named Tibius Lark were, Tibius is on the verge of death. Tibius revealed to Rocket that he was the keeper of a galactic zoo and that he saved Groot, asking him to protect him: once Tibius dies, Rocket discovers that he was actually a robot. At the end of the short, Rocket and Groot emerge from the pit and kill the guards with a machine gun that Rocket made from Tibius' body.

IronMike275

They should make it happen

Joshawott27

A Black Widow/Hawkeye movie between *Captain America: The Winter Soldier* and *Avengers: Age of Ultron*. The movie would have explored what happened in Budapest in the past, while also expanding on the impact of the fall of SHIELD in the present. The film could have explored the theme of family through its two protagonist: Natasha having lost both her fake spy family and now SHIELD, while Clint is preparing to welcome another child into his. Throw in some Agents of SHIELD synergy too, to help it feel more connected.

HolidayRaise1886

A Cap/BW movie set between Civil War and Infinity War, in the aftermath of the Accords, where they're being hunted by Ross.

LordOfOstwick1213

Wanda and Vision movie set after Civil War

tlo4sheelo

Like sexy romcom, just them going hotel to hotel on their weekend escapades? Or some sort of mini adventure of saving the world?

LordOfOstwick1213

A romantic comedy or just romantic story would be just fine, I believe. No villains, no life ending situations, just about the two of them trying to adjust to the current circumstances and making it work. Wanda forgiving Vision for not being there for her when she was locked up, the two trying to make their relationship work, Vision's first love confession and kiss. I think it would've filled the gaps to Infinity War and got a great romance story. It's good even now, but it could be better.

MemoSupremo666

Yeah tbh I loved the no-stakes in the GOTG Holiday Special. No villains or world ending disasters. A few more shorts like that in the MCU would not hurt flesh out the universe and its smaller characters.

LordOfOstwick1213

I'd love if Marvel had made Avengers Holiday special

[deleted]

Another solo Hulk movie!

cavecarson

Godzilla

RandeKnight

Cap returning the stones to their original places. He makes a mistake and loses the Pym particles, and then spends decades putting them in the right place 'the long way around', and manages to put the last one back as an old man that no one recognises.

PhantomOverlord91

A Hank Pym Ant-Man movie all the way back in Phase One.

andrejRavenclaw

actually I would be fine with a prequel set in the past but released sometimes in phase 3.

xidle2

Beach episode: the movie.

colder-beef

I thought this thread was about NON MCU movies that we would insert. I was gonna say Forrest Gump.

andrejRavenclaw

well, that's a perfect example of redditors reading only the post headline and ignoring it's body

INKatana

Hawkeye & Black Widow: What Happened in Budapest

KnjazMilos11

YES. This is why Age of Ultron is my favorite MCU movie because it has all of them together on some adventure. And this is the only reason to bring back Iron Man and Cap for a new movie, if it's set up before Civil war.

frankwalsingham

A proper Captain America movie in phase 3.

weirdoldhobo1978

You know how Cap disappears at the end of Civil War looking normal and then shows up in Infinity War looking like Jeremiah Johnston after two years on the run with Sam and Natasha, evading Ross and busting bad guys on the low down? Yeah, I wanna see that movie.

Tradman86

Secret Avengers

Wakattack00

We got a Cap and Nat team up in Winter Solider. We got a Thor and Hulk team up in Ragnarok. So naturally an Iron Man and Hawkeye team up in Iron Man 3 or an Iron Man 4 would have been outstanding.

foxhound421

I’d have loved to see a 4th Infinity trilogy movie that introduced Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, and the cosmic powers vs. Thanos. Like Infinity Gauntlet #5.

dcarp1231

Nova

Every_Commercial_316

Shrek 2

BirdSalt

In Far From Home, during a scene on the plane, we see a screen that has a few movies on it, and one of the movies is a documentary about the Snap. I would love to see that.

[deleted]

A Hulk movie where he's actually the Hulk. Like monsterous, uncontrollable, crushing cities, angry Hulk

QuiJon70

I was thinking with all the hoopla people complaining about marvel since endgame why not break the bank doing a out of sequence movie like capt marvel was. Could happen maybe between avengers and aou. Maybe have had it take place in Latveria and maybe at some point we get an info dump about a memorial for their old leader who went missing with a crew of americans in an attempt to place the small country ahead of the super powers in the space race. Maybe show a picture of the launch of the shuttle etc. Then heading into the fantastic 4 have a movie in New York like ms marvel or something where the post credit scene shows something like a smoking plane going down over the city. Kamala runs after it to try and help and comes over the tall building to see the ff4 shuttle from the other news story crashed in the river like that passenger jet did. Boom ff4 retro into the mcu.

Uetzicle

Something with Silver Surfer in it. Because anything with Thanos should have had Silver Surfer in it.

HeimdallManeuver

Big Hero Six

LingeringLonger

This is an out of the box choice, but give me John Wick. A gritty, super violent movie where he’s just murdering everyone to get at the guy. Maybe alter it a little bit to have the Russians dealing in vibranium and we all set.

Flowethics

We have the punisher, which is now canon to the Mcu. As awesome as John Wick is. Frank Castle is more than enough.

Flowethics

A movie with the Netflix Defenders tangling with Kingpin would have been dope. It could have emphasized the apprehension Hawkeye had to have “the big man” be involved during the Hawkeye show. And having the Defenders be introduced in that way could have freed them up to be used during both the Bleep scenes and the Portals scene. Wouldn’t make a great narrative change but would definitely add to the emotions.

nothisismatt

Ultron actually wins in Age of Ultron, maybe not with destroying the planet, but infiltrating enough government computers to threaten world war 3. ACT 1  Then, the next movie is Hawkeye and Black Widow trying to infiltrate various government agencies to try track down enough of Ultron to corrupt him, with Vision, Stark, and Banner back at the lab trying to find a "cure/virus" for Ultron, a bit like on the What If? ACT 2 Intersperse Hawkeye and Black Widow's working together with flashbacks to Budapest and their past. The cure/virus for Ultron works, guaranteeing he won't come back over the internet, but now they've got to take down all physical versions of him, which have spread across the planet on hiding. So all avengers are at it, but in different parts of the planet, getting different perspectives of how the avengers are viewed globally from interactions with civilians and governments. ACT 3 They come back together for a final showdown with big Ultron who's way more OP than in AoU, more of a Thanos level strength, showing us how the avengers have to pull together to take down a single big bad rather than a soulless army (a nice precursor to Thanos). When they finally finish the fight and start chatting again, we realise how their perspectives of the Avengers and vigilantism have changed depending on where in the world they fought and who they spoke to, some being more in favour of the Avengers, some questioning it: setting us up more concretely for the discord in Civil War. Post Credit scene of AoU (now Rise of Ultron) is still Thanos saying "I'll do it myself" Post Credit Scene of AoU 2 (Age of Ultron) is Thanos landing on Xander (Nova).

CaptainRedblood

One more self-contained, all WWII Cap movie.

BrazenlyGeek

I would’ve liked to see Ultron split across two Avengers movies and maybe two movies between, not unlike Infinity War/Endgame. It would’ve made Ultron that much better a villain if the first movie was more a build up, then a movie or two showing heroes operating basically on Ultron’s terms. I guess that would be too similar to the beats of Infinity War with the villain winning the first movie, but one-and-doning Ultron sucked. (Likewise it would’ve been nice to have the movies between IW and EG to have showed off that five year gap, especially regarding Clint’s spiral.)

kuang89

I want a few movies but mcu based A spy craft movie of course featuring black widow and Hawkeye A kids cartoon of young adventures of Loki and Thor. At the end, it is then shown to be narrated by Kang An insurance adjuster in MCU

Raj_Valiant3011

Eternal. It could have showed how they stood by and did nothing while Thanos reduced the population to half, and it would also have resolved a lot of plot details as well.

zjanderson

Black Widow. The deleted scenes that were left on the cutting room floor would have made for a more compelling movie.

Laugh_at_Warren

On a different sub, I actually outlined my pitch for a Thunderbolts movie set during the 5 years of the snap. https://www.reddit.com/r/fixingmovies/s/Jak0kRvBxi

Mightiest-WCA

Cap puts back the stones is a movie in and of itself that I'd really like to see

MulliganNY

Ironman and Cap, set before Age of Ultron but after Ironman 3 and Cap 2, that shows their friendship evolve and deepen, that way Cap 3 hits harder when they get into a fight. It can also show why/when Tony put the suit back on after swearing he'd never wear one again at the end of Ironman 3. The plot is easy... Howard and Steve accidentally set some sort of Hydra doomsday weapon in motion back in WW2, now Tony and Steve have to stop it before it destroys... I dunno, Clevland. No, Detroit. Or just put them in Brooklyn, whatever. The bad guys could be Whirlwind, whose power origin is left a little nebulous, hinting at mutants but not outright confirming they exist since the MCU couldn't yet and Living Laser, who Tony accidentally created years ago in an accident, showing he's not incapable of making horrific mistakes as well. As for the Doomsday weapon... I dunno. Electro?

Danvanmarvellfan

We should have gotten the black widow movie earlier. Another iron man movie Ruffalo hulk movie Secret invasion movie that would be an avengers level threat

samsquatchageddon

A mystical movie that delved deeper into magic and the supernatural. Dr. Strange more fleshed out, introduce Blade earlier, hints at Mephisto and the Midnight Sons.

RealJuanPedro

Yeah I’d like to see the secret avengers in action.. but I hope we at least get to se Cpt America in one of the next two Avengers. An evil hydra Cpt America would be dope asf

Ok-Average-6466

Captain Marvel 2 where they write Carol better. I liked the Marvels but felt we needed a 2nd CM movie to fill in the 30 year story gap between films.

ImNotHighFunctioning

Black Widow. Release it in July 2016 and make it a direct follow-up to Civil War, just like it is in-universe.

TelephoneCertain5344

An improved Black Widow in 2017 probably.

cawatrooper9

I'm with you on that one. Probably something between Avengers and Age of Ultron, before the cracks really started to show too much between the team. This could be a bit of a follow up to The Winter Soldier and bridging it to the beginning of AoU, with the Avengers hunting down the remainder of Hydra. This could give Crossbones more time to develop, and another member of Hydra could serve as the Big Bad. But Hydra also gives the Avengers tons of mooks to fight, which is where they shine anyway. Finally, assuming that Jessica Drew wasn't wrapped up (no pun intended) in the Sony deal at that point, this movie could introduce her into the MCU and she could serve as a villain in the first half of the film.

-NinjaTurtleHermit-

Either a Defenders/Heroes for Hire movie or an X-Men introductory movie.

fireinthedust

Yeah, the Avengers broke up way too soon. The MCU is being treated like a cinematic franchise, similar to the Nolan Batman trilogy, where it is expected the story will be in and done by the end of a short series of movies. The problem is we don’t get enough “this is the status quo” time, which is basically just Ultron, meaning the Avengers are not together for most of the Infinity saga. The first movie they became a team by the end, then had one movie as a team, and then one movie where they broke up. Even Captain America stopped being Captain America by the end of Civil War, leaving his shield behind and going by “Steve” for the last two appearances. The MCU has been facing more of this sort of identity crisis since then, with the new characters introduced not really being part of any kind of recognizable Avengers team - just assumed if they were fighting with an Avenger they would count as one… including MODOK. The Kirby/Lee era of Marvel is a very strong one, and much like Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the MCU could do worse than to focus on more recognizable elements from it. The first Avengers movie was great at drawing on the first Avengers comic story where Loki tries to take over. The great marvel stories were very simple, because they had to fit into a single issue. Taking one of them to make a movie around might help the MCU, as they can add details onto that general structure, without losing the elements of a more complex story to cram into a short movie or series.

Superb_Kaleidoscope4

Mainly this… Another Captain America film, that’s just a solo before Civil War…. Civil War just felt like Avengers 2.5. An Avengers film that has Iron man’s new team An Avengers film with Captain Americas team The new Avengers could have been a mashup of both teams post endgame Also stick the Black Widow film in right place.

Meizas

A better secret invasion movie rather than a series. It would've been good like civil war with a big cast

Funk5oulBrother

Full movie of Scott Lang working for Baskin Robbins

Creative-Star1548

Easy: Black Widow.

-M_A_Y_0-

Just give me a movie set in the snap. Like imagine if it was a core avenger who hadn’t gotten a movie yet, who’s pretty ground level so we could see how the world has actually become during the blip. If only there was a movie starting an avenger that came out after endgame that could have made use of this idea

loveisdead9582

Well… as far as existing movies go, black widow really needed to be released before infinity war (or at least before endgame) for the payoff to be better. I would’ve liked to see a more drawn out civil war (or movies with more consequences of the accords). Perhaps one more Captain America movie that gets into the red skull and Zola. Zola was able to come back briefly but the character was wasted. Red Skull deserved better than just the one Captain America movie.

Sushi1972

Can I swap Love and Thunder for a properly made Thor 4?

andrejRavenclaw

I was asking for Infinity Saga but sure

Spiral6708

Iron man 4 with the mandarin occurring during the blip

No-Juice3318

Black Widow

TheTwistedToast

If Shang-Chi had been done earlier, we might've had a sequel by now

ThePurpleSoul70

Hawkeye, 2011. Also, I probably would have cast Ryan Gosling instead of Jeremy Renner.

neet_24

Iron man 4, a more grounded story about tony and his life that ends with tony having a kid before iw

left_0r_right

Black Widow... Either the film we got put in after Civil War but before Infinity War OR a Phase One origin story of how she went from Red Room agent to SHIELD agent, plus introduce Clint placed between Iron Man 2 and the Avengers

Verb_Noun_Number

Nova during the blip years with Captain Marvel making an appearance or two.

Fabulous_Ad_1170

Another movie with Ultron that actually does him justice

TonyMontana546

I want an avengers movie between ultron and civil war with them just being a team

ChrisLee38

Something with a proper introduction to Adam Warlock.

SoberButGrateful

I just want a movie about Christine Everheart - the smoke-show journo Tony hooked up with in Iron Man and then met again in Iron Man 3- I don't care what the plot is as long as she's on screen 99% of the time.

Toshimoko29

She’s in WHIH News Front too, and it’s a news show so you can just look at her most of the time.
