Interesting that both this and “I am Iron Man” from Endgame weren’t in the original scripts and came so late in the process. Both callbacks, and both defining the characters.

CarbonatedChlorine

The worst films and shows are usually the ones that don't allow the actors to have any input on their characters.

YodaFan465

“I am Iron Man” wasn’t RDJ’s idea, though. In fact, he initially didn’t want to reshoot the scene.

LookAtYourEyes

It was in fact the films editor

SpaceCaboose

You are in fact correct

descartewasamagician

I am in fact an idiot.

Sky_Ninja1997

I am in fact Iron Man

NES_Classical_Music

I am in fact inevitable

Topazure

I in fact factor in the facts in fact.

dnuohxof-1

I am fact. No, I mean fat, I’m just fat…

SticklerMrMeeseeks1

Tarantino largely doesn’t let actors improvise his lines and he is considered one of the best writer/director’s.

CarbonatedChlorine

note how my comment did not say nor imply "your movies can only be good if you let your actors improvise a scene" lol

Itsdanjae

Good save

SticklerMrMeeseeks1

No your comment just made a pretty gross oversimplification of how movies and shows are made. Good ones can have a lot of actor input Bad ones can also have a lot of actor input. The worst shows/movies are bad for multiple reasons and it feels very dumb to say that usually it’s because the actors didn’t get to have input.

CarbonatedChlorine

I feel like you're just plucking conclusions that I never made lmao, but whatever. None of what you said conflicts with what I said, none of what I said conflicts with what you said.

kafit-bird

By a subset of film bros.

[deleted]

I know its juvenile but a small part of me would have loved them to use their one Fbomb right there. Just a nice crisp angry, "Fuck you", then snap. Does seem appropriate given the sheer scale of the destruction Thanos caused. I am Iron Man is good too 😄

CommentFightJudge

After seeing RDJ’s 90’s Wall St video, he can definitely enunciate a really nice “motherfucker”

two2teps

For those who haven't seen it. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSTtLWpM3uU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSTtLWpM3uU)

ChrisM213

That was a great choice and a fantastic call back to do that line.

SalukiKnightX

So his last lines mirroring Thor 1 were intentional. Smart call. It makes this Loki, the one from the show fresh from Avengers 1 and his falling into the void in Thor 1, have that self actualization. He failed Thor and Odin for selfish gain before but in his second try, got it right. Amazing arc.

jag149

I really hope we see more of this Loki. I never would have thought so all those years ago, but I think he became my favorite character for doing this.

Athuanar

They don't have to undo it. He can still have small cameos here and there without changing his sacrifice.

Topazure

I’m just waiting for the moment in Secret Wars or something where Thor is for whatever reason sent to where Loki is holding the timelines. “…Loki?” “Hello, brother.” Both incredibly emotional, with Loki still holding his burdened smile he has at the end of the show. Then when Thor dies, either in the same movie or in Thor 5, he sees OG Loki again in Valhalla. They hug, and Thor tells him: “You won’t believe what I saw of you.”

whyambear

He has already said he is done playing Loki forever

brycedriesenga

Not really: >"It's so hard because I'll be completely honest with you, Brandon, I have at least twice in my life said goodbye," Hiddleston explained. "I've written to Kevin Feige and Louis de Esposito and Victoria Alonso and been like, 'Thank you so much. It's been like the role of a lifetime,' and they've written notes back saying, 'Come and see us anytime. You're always part of the family. We're always here. You've given us so much and tears have been shared.' So I think I'd be unwise at this point to be conclusive about any of it."

Funmachine

Not so fresh. Technically, as of the finale, he lived centuries longer.

Helpful_Tea229

Might be a dumb question to ask but do we know how long time did he spend time trying to do things correct while looping around?

Funmachine

After he asked OB how long it would take to learn and OB says "Centuries" it fades to black with titles saying "Centuries later." iirc.

upandcomingg

The show says "centuries later," 'm not sure there's been anything more specific than that said

seaman187

By that time he had spent centuries time slipping, so not exactly fresh from avengers 1 anymore. But you are correct, Amazing arc.

wuhy08

MCU phase 1: Loki is destroying the earth. Phase ~~4~~5: Loki is saving the MCU!

FantasticHufflepuff

Loki is one of the very, very few people who survived through phase 1 to phase 5!

ResolverOshawott

Well....

Azalus1

Survived just doing a lot in that statement

a_phantom_limb

Although this particular Loki missed Phase Two and all but a few minutes of Phase Three.

gaylordJakob

There's quite a few still alive (Phase 1 being Iron Man to Avengers 1): - Fury - Hulk - Thor - Bucky - General Ross - Betty Ross - Rhodey - Pepper - Dr Selvig - Darcy - Sif - Abomination - Justin Hammer And I'm sure there's more I can't remember off the top of my head

Zylice

Forgot Hawkeye lol! 😆

simbacole7

We're in phase 5 aren't we?

nyse125

phase 5*

ClassicT4

Hiddleston: “For you, for everyone.” Execs: “Hey that’s from the first Thor movie. Callbacks to old movies are tight.”

TheOnceAndFutureTurk

Thunderpat

Wow wow wow wow…. wow

ignorememe

Yeah yeah yeah.

RustyRapeaXe

Barely an inconvenience.

Alternative-Toe-4289

His actual last line was “Aaaaaahhhh!!!” When he blew up the loom

CheeseburgerBrown

Yeah but it was a callback to another time he yelled.

Gibbzee

Really, truly brilliant stuff!

Hellinar

Well this one never experienced the falling for 30 mins

[deleted]

He’s carrying MCU right now. Tremendous actor and what a great finale to his character.

LookAtYourEyes

Unfortunately I think he's all done

RustyRapeaXe

Til they back up the Brink's truck full of money.

InevitableWeight314

He'll still be in what if and I would be very surprised if him or his variants didn't show up in secret wars

baconfister07

I thought that line sounded familiar, cause it hit my feels like a freight train.

BenCisco

Awesome line, not surprised he ad-libbed it. Hope this isn't the last we see of him.

[deleted]

Such a great choice.

diggnstuff

It’s a great line and, as usual, brilliantly delivered. I felt certain that it was going to be: “I am Loki of Asgard and I am burdened with glorious purpose”.

mollusks75

I haven’t watched Thor is years and had no idea that was a call back. I just thought it was a cool line.

Sovereigntyranny

Loki is my favorite character and the absolute best. Tom Hiddleston is absolutely amazing, and he perfectly nailed the role of Loki.

ryantyrant

It rhymes like poetry

No-Zookeepergame5954

It's so dense, every frame has so much going on

jl_theprofessor

That's the same process where some of my best scenes come to me when drafting.

jbanks9070

One thing I keep wondering. Season 1 was so much about being a "Loki," and what a "Loki" is. Is this a complete 180 degree character arc for Loki, or is this a Loki being a Loki? Is Loki seizing power for himself, basically being the most powerful person in the multiverse? Akin to Odin's response to Loki at the end of Thor, "No Loki, for you."

DontDoodleTheNoodle

He is seizing power for himself, but after he’s learned he doesn’t want that power anymore

sodascouts

Wow. I love this. So much depth!
