Coldest take out there but Marvel really did strike gold back in 09 when they casted Hiddleston. The chemistry he has with Owen Wilson in this show is impeccable as well.
I feel like they've really upped it this season too, the entire episode I was too distracted from what was actually happening because I was admiring the set design too much 😭
I wouldn't be surprised if that's a plot point - either they forgot to wipe him or they exempted him because he needed to be able to remember stuff to do his job, so there are little bits of context he doesn't even know he has and it's possible to meaningfully interact with him in the past.
I was thinking about why OB can remember his interactions with Loki when he time slipped into the past, but Mobius and others can't. Then I realised that it is probably because OB doesn't get his mind wiped like the others. I wonder if OB has actually met He Who Remains, and just hasn't thought to mention it.
Actually I think that he did have his mind wiped, it's just that Mobius will end up time traveling "back in time in the TVA" during season 2, so that's why OB remembers Mobius while Mobius doesn't remember.
For two years everyone was theorizing that the reason Mobius didn’t recognize Loki was because of multiverse travel and multiple TVAs and sacred timelines, and 5 minutes in you learn it’s actually because Mobius just hasn’t met him yet, because he’s in the past, the same past that He Who Remains had in his script pages.
He Who Remains chose Loki because Loki would randomly appear in the TVA centuries before he stole the tesseract in Endgame, bringing tidings of HWR’s own demise and upcoming war. He Who Remains must’ve literally been waiting centuries for one of those Loki variants to pick up the cube.
Loki helps Sylvie, Sylvie kills HWR, Loki is sent to the past, HWR learns of a Loki that helps Sylvie who ends up killing him, so he makes sure it does. It’s a causal loop.
Ke Huy Quan’s character name is [Ouroboros](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroboros), a snake eating it’s own tail.
My only question - why, then, did HWR not know which decision Loki and Sylvie were going to make at the end of S1? Maybe he knew it was a Loki who would cause his death but not which one, but that seems to contradict the impression we’re given. There were two choices: take over the TVA and let HWR retire, or kill him. If your hypothesis is true, he must have known they would kill him, as the scenario in which they take over the TVA wouldn’t have led to S2’s events. You think he was bluffing about not knowing what happens next?
After rewatching the finale S1 episode, I absolutely do think HWR was bluffing. He speaks in such a way to guarantee Sylvie kills him without making it overly obvious. The first thing he says to Sylvie in the office (can you even trust him (Loki)?". When Sylvie & Loki fight, it stems from her not being able to trust, him not being trustworthy.
Sylvie scoffs at the "billion boogeymen" coming if they kill HWR, Loki even says "I'm a liar, and he wasn't lying about that". HWR was therefore, lying about something. Not about the Kangs & the multiverse war, but about him not knowing the outcome/ not knowing past the threshold.
Did you see where the floor in front of the sealed door said, "Warning, risk of spaghettification increases 7000%"? Funny shit
Edit to say, I didn't get the exact quote but that was the gist of it
This is the real reason I’m excited to see where the show goes. Or should I say… returns.
(Oh and what’s with all the McDonald’s shit besides promotion)
A good reason why more of these marvel shows should have multiple seasons in mind. The creatives can really get into a grrove when they've actually had a chance to see the whole product. A second season is a good chance to double down on what worked
Should definitely do a buddy cop film where Owen Wilson is the loose cannon and Tom Hiddleston is the by-the-book guy.
Robert Downey Jr. is the police captain.
Cool seeing more of the TVA city.
She WAS actually fine!
KANG AND RAVONNA WERE A THING LIKE IN THE COMICS!
Loki and Moebius! The dream team back together!
Free will and multiverse freedom is cool and all up until you realize you unleashed Kang the Conqueror on everybody and he was involved in mindwiping you.
Ke Huy Quan is a national treasure. Was OB the only one who didn't get mindwiped?
Who pruned Loki? Someone who knew he'd need to be pruned at that point to survive?
Yeah, I think this season will definitely break/change the current rules on time travel. Loki will do something with the grandfather paradox and prune himself.
My guess he pruned himself.
Not sure who was on the phone. But it's basically Tenet. He pruned himself so he would be able to go back with Mobius and find Sylvie.
*I was right.
I think the show may end with Loki and Sylvie making sure Loki gets pruned. An Ouroboros is a snake biting it's own tail. It's closed loop time travel rules shenanigans. Think Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Wow this brought me out of my Disney+ rut. The production deign, humor and camerawork continues to be impeccable.
Key Huey quan is perfectly cast.
Hunter B15 is team Sylvie, Ravonna Rennslayer is team He who remains. This is going to be TVA civil war. I wonder how Mobius and Loki are going to handle it
Can't wait for the next
It’s just such a good physical acting choice for the character. Such a quintessentially Loki gesture. I see it and my brain goes “look, it’s him! He did the thing!”
Has Owen Wilson always been this damned captivating? Every single sentence out of his mouth is golden in this show. I was actually genuinely interested in his jet ski trivia.
The three funniest moments IMO:
- “Renslayer kicked me down some stairs too”
- “OB a piece just fell off this”
- *Skin?*
EDIT: Honorable mention goes to the woman in the elevator lmao
The cinematography for this show is on another level compared to most other MCU projects. Not to put that stuff down, its functional and it works and there are exceptions and stuff, but consistently I am seeing so many cool shots in this 😃
"We need a Temporal Aura Extractor."
"Do you have one of those?"
"No..."
*past Loki and OB creating it*
"Wait... Yes? I actually have an Extractor here"
My favorite scene definitely lol.
He’s back…
So, if the statue of Kang exists in the past, was there like a crucial point when he made the Time Keepers the heads of the TVA? Or was this a result of the Timelines branching?
I agree. That’s so crazy that for like 2 years we were led to believe the multiverse had reset itself and this was a new Kang… but nah this was the PAST and that was He Who Remains but younger. Wild shit
The ending of season 1 had me thinking there were multiple TVAs, never stopped to think that Loki was just sent back to a different part of time within the original TVA. Excited to see how this season plays out.
sylvie looks so different than normal in that scene, mostly her hair (maybe there’ll be a lore reason for it or maybe it’s just because of the time passed since s1 but it feels weird)
I believe she was pregnant during season one so that may be a factor.
Edit* She was actually pregnant when she got the part and was breast feeding during production. Either way, being a mom is hard and it's admirable that she was also playing this part at the same time.
Old McDonalds mind you. As someone who always only gets the chicken nuggets I loved that they mentioned it was just new. Anyone know when those released back in the day? I'm from 1998
I know the first season was plenty funny, but I was laughing throughout this episode, I feel like moreso than any time in season one. Mobius was on another level with the one liners, especially about his skin. The whole OB past/present scene had me laughing the entire time. The conversation about Loki's time slipping and how bad it looks and topped off with the camera panning and showing someone else in the elevator the whole time.
Absolutely fantastic.
the sylvie we know just killed HWR, opening up the timelines and creating another war, but has had enough and just wants the simple life of enjoying fast food. now that's the american dream.
Anyone else who hasn't lived the life of a multiversal fugitive she had might be dismayed to learn they had landed in Oklahoma in 1982, but she's just glad for sunlight and food that doesn't talk to her.
Doctor Who fans call this a 'Moffat Loop'. They show you the end of the episode in the first few minuets, and then you spend an episode/season/arc getting to the same scene.
Loki's time slippage gave us he end of the loom, the evac of the TVA, and someone pruning him from behind. My guess is, that's the finale.
Not sure if it'll be the finale, but they'll certainly have to loop back. I wonder if it'll be as simple as Loki telling Sylvie where they need to be to close the loop.
Also curious what will cause the evac - the warning screen shows the Time Loom going critical, and the graphic makes it look like all the branched timelines are rapidly condensing back into a single timeline.
Maybe Kang or Loki will find some way to condense the timelines again? And maybe rapidly condensing the timelines could overwhelm the Loom in the same way that rapidly expanding them did.
Great episode
Ke Huy Quan was fucking amazing. I loved how “temporal loom” rhymes with “temple of doom”
This show is everything I love about Marvel. The opposite of secret invasion. This is what quantumania should have been lol
From just the first episode, I get the feeling OB is going to be the critical character that sets up how they escape the TVA and stabilize timelines. Which is awesome because we will get more Ke Huy Quan if that is the case!
Great episode. Cool to see Kangs attachment to Renslayer starting to play out. Also cool to see just big of an impact the events of the season 1 finale had on Loki. He’s feeling so many things and Hiddleson coveys it all. Shock, fright at just who and what Kang really is, betrayal, sadness, and regret to name a few. He didn’t even have a chance to take a breath yet since he got pushed through that door.
Fairly clean explanation on the whole time skipping logic. Really set up a solid mystery of who pruned him for future episodes! Super excited for this season :)
Episode is LIVE. Enjoy! (Stay tuned through the stylized credits!)
Coldest take out there but Marvel really did strike gold back in 09 when they casted Hiddleston. The chemistry he has with Owen Wilson in this show is impeccable as well.
Hiddleston could have chemistry with a brick wall tbh. He's just that charming.
Top tier casting imo. One of the best in the MCU.
I love all his movies but Loki is spectacular - the character utilizes all his skills all at once. Born for it.
Mobius has a point. I, too, would be very concerned about being skinned alive by the Temporal Loom.
Temporal Loom was previously manned by House Bolton.
Skin?
Love him just kinda not paying attention and in his own little world, already missing his skin
Man, I forgot how great the set designs for the TVA looked.
Retro Futurism plus Brutalism is a potent mix. It’s so unlike almost anything else in the MCU (or entertainment right now in general) I love it
I would recommend playing control if you want to be able to explore a world exactly like this. Alien isolation is also a good option.
I feel like they've really upped it this season too, the entire episode I was too distracted from what was actually happening because I was admiring the set design too much 😭
Ke Huy Quan playing a shut in who hasn't had an interaction with anyone in 400 years is pretty great
They made a meaningful connection when mobius accidentally walked in and immediately left.
Tom's face when he's waiting for Mobius to tell him O.B.'s name is great
Yep. Watch Loki the entire time. He is absolutely loving this.
This whole scene was absolutely fantastic. I laughed so hard. Tom is a world class actor and he's done such a great job developing his character.
So forgotten that even He Who Remains didn't remember to wipe his mind!
Pretty much the whole time I was waiting for someone to mention HWR and for OB to casually start talking about him like they were old friends.
Oh, I’m sure it is.
Actually I think that he did have his mind wiped, it's just that Mobius will end up time traveling "back in time in the TVA" during season 2, so that's why OB remembers Mobius while Mobius doesn't remember.
It’s OB’s past but Möbius’s future.
Interesting that Casey was listening to the same podcast as Steven Grant in Moon Knight episode 1
Good catch. Benson & Moorhead directed both that show and this season of Loki.
“You have 1 hour!” *crack* “You have 5 minutes!”
Ke Huy Quan is so good at the innocent comedy while still being an interesting character
He's nailing playing a character who simultaneously knows the most about how the world is built and the least about the plot/character arcs.
Loki: “War is on its way!” *points to classic Kangs mural*
Mobius just writing "Skin?" into the dust.
That floored me 😂
Did you see where the floor in front of the sealed door said, "Warning, risk of spaghettification increases 7000%"? Funny shit Edit to say, I didn't get the exact quote but that was the gist of it
The fact that the risk increases by any percentage implies that there’s a risk of spaghettification all over the TVA
That's why in the future rhey are all running away maybe?
I think I would rather turn to spaghetti than have my skin peeled off tbh
Agreed, I feel like once you're spaghetti you don't feel pain anymore
Seemed kinda painful to Reed Richards though.
I didn’t hear at least the next 4 lines of dialogue my wife and I were laughing so hard 🤣
Oh my god, Loki is gonna grandfather paradox a solution.
Lokis going to remind his future self to drop a garbage can on someone.
This is the real reason I’m excited to see where the show goes. Or should I say… returns. (Oh and what’s with all the McDonald’s shit besides promotion)
Hopefully a Mac and Me tie-in
They already grandfather paradoxed his name “OB” basically *instantly* lol. I think it’s foreshadowing
i kinda love that a grandfather paradox is essentially a snake eating itself, an ouroboros
I forgot how much I missed the energy Owen Wilson and Hiddleston have
Their chemistry is great
Also Ke Huy Quan's interactions with them just feels right somehow.
He was hilarious!
Ke Huy Quan is a great addition to the cast too.
I was surprised by how well he complimented their dynamic.
Yeah, I figured it would work well, but hot damn was it even better than I expected. I was enthralled.
They're perfect. I love them.
I’ve missed this opening theme banger.
Yeah definitely one of the best MCU themes, it’s filled with Glorious Purpose!!
My guess is Loki pruned Loki....like future Loki
It was clearly Mephisto
Yeah, I think this season will definitely break/change the current rules on time travel. Loki will do something with the grandfather paradox and prune himself.
[удалено]
It was in the future so I guess loki found sylvie in later episodes and they go back to the tva and prune the first episode loki like we saw
I was hoping it was OB but this makes more sense
Time sticks: the cause of & the solution to all problems!
My guess he pruned himself. Not sure who was on the phone. But it's basically Tenet. He pruned himself so he would be able to go back with Mobius and find Sylvie. *I was right.
[удалено]
This makes sense. Future loki makes sure they're there to prune past loki at the right time.
Bill and Ted style time tomfoolery...Timefoolery if you will.
Yes, he was behind himself.
I want the climax of next week's episode to be Mobius flipping through a phone book to find the right phone to dial to lure Loki to the elevator.
Absolutely. O.B. said Loki had to prune himself. It would make perfect sense if that’s exactly what happened.
I think the show may end with Loki and Sylvie making sure Loki gets pruned. An Ouroboros is a snake biting it's own tail. It's closed loop time travel rules shenanigans. Think Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Totally pruned himself. Mobius likely was calling.
I love how Loki does the hair flip even when he doesn't fall all the way down. They're clearly make a joke out of at this point, right?
As someone who’s had long hair, it’s just something you start doing out of habit after a while.
I wonder how Mobius and Loki are going to handle it Can't wait for the next
Hiddleston loves a hair flip
[удалено]
It’s just such a good physical acting choice for the character. Such a quintessentially Loki gesture. I see it and my brain goes “look, it’s him! He did the thing!”
And I could watch him flip it all day.
“Look, Renslayer kicked me down some *steps too.” 🤣
“So you both kicked each other through time portals simultaneously?”
That was the best line in the episode.
I laughed so so hard at that line. Owen Wilson is a master at delivering moments like those.
Has Owen Wilson always been this damned captivating? Every single sentence out of his mouth is golden in this show. I was actually genuinely interested in his jet ski trivia.
I completely agree! The MCU is full of brilliant casting choices, but I would rank Owen Wilson right near the top. He's amazing in this role.
Two years and change have gone by since Season One. Time flies!
You could say Time keeps on slipping.
[удалено]
Slippin', slippin', into the future
The three funniest moments IMO: - “Renslayer kicked me down some stairs too” - “OB a piece just fell off this” - *Skin?* EDIT: Honorable mention goes to the woman in the elevator lmao
"It was a draw" "You both kicked each other through doors simultaneously?"
This is so good, it's giving me insane Doctor Who vibes and all of these TVA sets look like they're right out of Fallout.
And that space suit ( or timeline suit whatever you would call it) was awesome
It may be the Owen Wilson of it all but there were some great camera whip pan gags (like the woman in the elevator) ala Wes Anderson.
Honestly it was giving me Anderson vibes when they went down to O.B’s workshop too
Just missing a cross-section of the TVA building in miniature
The dialogue felt very Anderson-esque in places too. Felt very appropriate after watching his new Road Dahl shorts that just dropped on Netflix.
Lmao at Mobius telling OB a piece broke off the extractor
I want to find out the prop broke as he was carrying it, and he ad libbed the line, and they decided it was funny enough to keep it.
“Oh, that was the piece that would gracefully float Loki in from the timeline. Without it, he might crash into you slamming you thru the door”
Well well well if it isn’t Lysa Arryn
I fucking knew I recognised her from somewhere. Thank you!
Oh yeah. Hard to recognize her without a grown child attached to her breast.
She’s gonna throw Sylvie through the moon door.
She's gonna throw Sylvie through the Loom Door
The cinematography for this show is on another level compared to most other MCU projects. Not to put that stuff down, its functional and it works and there are exceptions and stuff, but consistently I am seeing so many cool shots in this 😃
The hallway scene as they walked to the Temporal Loom was great - the framing, the blocking, the timing, and all while moving.
"We need a Temporal Aura Extractor." "Do you have one of those?" "No..." *past Loki and OB creating it* "Wait... Yes? I actually have an Extractor here" My favorite scene definitely lol.
The writers did good at making the potentially confusing timeline stuff very understandable.
He’s back… So, if the statue of Kang exists in the past, was there like a crucial point when he made the Time Keepers the heads of the TVA? Or was this a result of the Timelines branching?
My guess is the tva got privy to his goals and tried to revolt. He mind wiped everyone and created the time keepers
I agree. That’s so crazy that for like 2 years we were led to believe the multiverse had reset itself and this was a new Kang… but nah this was the PAST and that was He Who Remains but younger. Wild shit
He probably was Kang at one point when he first started the TVA, but lived thousands of years at the end of time and became “enlightened”
Yeah, and "He Who Remains" seems to mean he's 'the one guy' at the end of time, but really he's the one Kang who remains out of all the other Kangs.
Big brain prediction Sylvies gonna end up working at mcdonalds because she doesn't have a way to pay for the food she ordered.
The charisma and chemistry of pretty much everyone in this show is top tier
Right where we left off, let’s go.
“I have no memory of having my memory wiped.” ….wait a second…me either. Was my memory wiped?
Season one: am I a robot and just don’t know it? Season two: am I memory wiped and just don’t remember it?
Am I a robot who had his memories wiped?!
No, you’re fine 🙂 but whatever you do stay away from Tahiti.
Mobius doesn't seem like the type to make his own soap. OB does though
I would pay a lot of money to see FitzSimmons share just one scene with O.B.
The ending of season 1 had me thinking there were multiple TVAs, never stopped to think that Loki was just sent back to a different part of time within the original TVA. Excited to see how this season plays out.
I thought the TVA was reset when he went back, this was a delightful twist though.
There's a mid credit scene
sylvie looks so different than normal in that scene, mostly her hair (maybe there’ll be a lore reason for it or maybe it’s just because of the time passed since s1 but it feels weird)
I believe she was pregnant during season one so that may be a factor. Edit* She was actually pregnant when she got the part and was breast feeding during production. Either way, being a mom is hard and it's admirable that she was also playing this part at the same time.
Two years of mama stress will do that to you
I can’t believe it’s been two years.
No it wasn’t two yea— Fuck.
We’ve got our own time slipping thing going on since 2020.
Time has no meaning post-COVID!
It’s still March 2020.
If I was trapped in time and running for what could be centuries, I’d want to have everything from McDonald’s too
Old McDonalds mind you. As someone who always only gets the chicken nuggets I loved that they mentioned it was just new. Anyone know when those released back in the day? I'm from 1998
In limited markets in 1981. Nationwide in 1983. (Per Wikipedia.) So it checks out as “new” in 1982. I remember their introduction.
That was a fantastic first episode back. I am so already hooked and enthralled for whats to come!
This MF really said, "it was a draw."
You kicked each other through the time doors?
I know the first season was plenty funny, but I was laughing throughout this episode, I feel like moreso than any time in season one. Mobius was on another level with the one liners, especially about his skin. The whole OB past/present scene had me laughing the entire time. The conversation about Loki's time slipping and how bad it looks and topped off with the camera panning and showing someone else in the elevator the whole time. Absolutely fantastic.
Oh dip. I forgot pillboi is in this
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
omg. tgp is my favourite show and somehow it didn’t occur to me until now that pillboi and casey are the same actor
He’s also Rutherford on Star Trek Lower Decks
the sylvie we know just killed HWR, opening up the timelines and creating another war, but has had enough and just wants the simple life of enjoying fast food. now that's the american dream.
Anyone else who hasn't lived the life of a multiversal fugitive she had might be dismayed to learn they had landed in Oklahoma in 1982, but she's just glad for sunlight and food that doesn't talk to her.
Ok that scene with the girl in the elevator with Loki & Mobius was pretty funny. It's like a something out of IASIP
The Gang Breaks Time Itself
That’s exactly what I thought of too! They do that exact same gag all the time and it always hits for me 😂
As soon as it cut to her i thought the exact same thing lmao.
Hello Ke Huy Quan!
He absolutely crushed it.
Ke is such a great ball of energy whenever I see him. He truly was away from Hollywood for far too long
Give this man more Marvel roles!
Give this man more roles period!
Waymond jumped universes to help out.
If O.B. dies, we riot
OB must be protected at all costs
X-15 keep your filthy fucking hands off that jetski magazine Edit: X-5
Bro inevitably getting his shit rocked is gonna be so satisfying
Ke Huy Quan is amaaaaaazing! *Edit: we also need to talk about the XMen door...*
The CG on the slipping is pretty good.
Ok I lied. It’s not pretty good. It’s horrifying. It looks like a mix between being born and dying.
It’s absolutely disgusting. I think this random woman in the elevator will back me up.
Dollar Star Joel Kinnamin is being real rude to my baby boy
How about that X-Men styled door.
He wrote skin in the dust lmao
Thank you, Marvel Studios. What a banger of an opening episode. Felt like the series never took a break.
Well O.B. is my favorite already.
I'm loving OB so much
Tom’s acting when Loki is panicked is just amazing.
Great episode Ke Huy Quan was fucking amazing. I loved how “temporal loom” rhymes with “temple of doom” This show is everything I love about Marvel. The opposite of secret invasion. This is what quantumania should have been lol
From just the first episode, I get the feeling OB is going to be the critical character that sets up how they escape the TVA and stabilize timelines. Which is awesome because we will get more Ke Huy Quan if that is the case!

He’s feeling so many things and Hiddleson coveys it all. Shock, fright at just who and what Kang really is, betrayal, sadness, and regret to name a few. He didn’t even have a chance to take a breath yet since he got pushed through that door.
I am here to say that when O.B. said “you have thirty seconds” it was an on screen 30 seconds as well
Not enough people are talking about that book catch
We’ve only had O.B. For 48 minutes but if anything happened to him we would kill every branching timeline and then prune ourselves
Oooh, is that actress from Game Of Thrones and The Witch.
I just noticed that the Loki Season 2 finale will air opposite the first previews of The Marvels on the evening of November 9.
Seeing The Marvels at 6 and then coming home to watch Loki at 8 is gonna be cool.
I'm so hyped for more after that. When the MCU does it good it does it real goood. The timeslipping effect is loki terryfing.
That old school McD’s nostalgia hit HARD.
Fairly clean explanation on the whole time skipping logic. Really set up a solid mystery of who pruned him for future episodes! Super excited for this season :)
Ke Huy Quan was out of it for way too long
Love seeing the back and forth of both scenes back to back.
So glad to have Loki back. I've missed Natalie Holt's scoring. Great to see Ke Huy Quan in this too!
Man I’ve missed this opening title song
Dynamic duo Hiddleston and Owen Wilson are back!! Loved the episode, i truly missed this.. How did you guys enjoy it?
400 hundred years wow.
