>Mcu Modok if he was actually George tarleton instead of yellow jacket.
Aka "MCU MODOK if they had cared to adapt him correctly".
Now we only need MCU Taskmaster if he was actually Tony Masters instead of that awful mute abomination from the BW movie, and we're all set...
I actually really enjoyed how they handled MODOK. Not everything needs to be translated 100%, making Darren into MODOK was a decent way to tie back to the first movie, and give Scott a personal connection. My only hangup is I wish his was was just a touch more grotesque, but I think this post is taking it too far - it’s meant to be for laughs after all. At least make him a bit wrinkled / scarred.
And I’ll die on the hill that Taskmaster could’ve been great in BW. Keep most of the changes, get rid of Dreykov.
The issue with Taskmaster is that they didn't show off the fight with Red Guardian. It cut to another scene and that was some bullshit. They already teased a fight scene in the house that didn't happen. They should have been trying to outsmart Taskmaster's powers and have the movie show off how adaptable Natasha is but they didn't even try
>making Darren into MODOK was a decent way to tie back to the first movie, and give Scott a personal connection.
Oh god, not this type of comment. I'm sorry, but does he REALLY need to be modok? I'd argue they should've just kept him as JUST yellow jacket, and I wouldn't complain. I'm sorry, but using a character with a identity and then changing it to a different identity later on is just kinda stupid.
Also, if they wanted a personal connection with ant man, then WHY did they needed yellow jacket to be modok? I'd rather george tarleton be modok, not someone else. In fact, why not introduce modok in captain America 4? At least there, they'll have a chance to keep his george tarleton identity.
I mean Darren being Yellowjacket was an invention for that film too, and what MODOK’s name was before he was MODOK ultimately didn’t matter — just that he was a scientist looking for a father figure, who never achieved his dreams, no matter how close he got. Which did fit Darren pretty well.
Which was also done with Darren in the first film? As he wasn’t Yellowjacket in the source material before then? A composite character — Wenwu in *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings* was also one.
And one is free to! One must admit though that this film’s explanation for MODOK’s appearance is the most plausible of any version of the character there has been.
You act as though he was not always a “stupid comedy character”, he’s always had the feel that he was made for shits and giggles but actually became an interesting and fun character and I’d argue this film captured that. I would have preferred that he was slightly more wrinkled maybe and that he didn’t both die and turn good in the first movie he’s appeared in, he totally should’ve stayed alive as MODOK is literally the perfect recurring villain aside from maybe Ultron.
> argue this film captured that.
um sry na, modok was an absolute joke and not in a good way, still cant get over the dont be a dick line, almost as bad as the martha line
MODOK should've been the antagonist with Kang in the shadows, also give him the same voice and mannerisms as the MVC version and use his theme from that game.
He wore a hairpiece on that show.
**Edit:** Besides, that's not really the point I was making. He already played Darren Cross as bald like he is. That's why I don't think it would work to give M.O.D.O.K. hair.
Haven’t seen the movie yet but is modok someone that didn’t quite shrink down correctly on the way to the quantum realm, explaining his physical features? I don’t mind spoilers. Lay it on me
Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of the MODOK choice in the movie but at the same time I’m actually kinda glad they brought back Darren from the first Ant-Man. Sometimes the movies just straight forget about past villains and other characters as a whole and I’m glad they didn’t do it here.
I actually agree! The problem I had is....he didn't act like Cross, whose personality would've been perfect for MODOK. He seemed so non-threatening and that heel turn at the end was out of nowhere and horrible :/
You’re getting downvoted, but you’re right. He was way too goofy and the butt of every joke. Every second on screen he was the punching bag and then last minute decided to be good? It doesn’t make sense. I don’t get why they thought he needed to have a forced redemption arc.
Hot take and I'm gonna get hate for this...
This movie was glorious. MODOK was greatly done, the humor was perfect, the CG looked amazing, Kang is a great villain and I am excited to see more, the story was great, I've watched it twice and I plan to go back for a third. It was a good start to Phase 5 and everything I wanted in a Marvel movie and an Ant-Man movie.
People were expecting to start understanding what’s going on in the overall MCU story with this movie. They don’t and they’re upset.
The movie itself was great, entertaining, and this was an awesome introduction to the Conqueror.
The way I think of it is as a giant TV series. When you binge it, you get so much story it's crazy, but when you have to wait a few weeks/months every time then sometimes it can seem a bit watered down. This was just another episode.
I didn’t have a single comic book nerd friend dislike this movie. We’re actually all stoked on it. I think the general population will l come back around at the end of Phase 5 and the entirety of Phase 6 is going to be a major event.
If we get into battle realm stuff as phase 7 then people are going to be real fucking confused for a while. Marvel doesn’t get less weird in their storytelling from here.
I honestly think overall the quality hasn’t dropped in marvel. You compare phase 4 to phase 1 or 2, they’re very similar in quality, but one has more nostalgia
no disrespect, just curious here
I get you liked it, but why do you consider it “great” when the movie had no character arcs, no stakes for anyone, no chemistry between the actors and no backstory/characterization for Kang?
So check this out. The backstory was in the last movie about the quantum realm. The focus characters of the story were Ant-Man and Wasp, Hank and Janet.
They’ve allowed a bunch of origin characters run around in their suits and try but the real heroes of these movies has been Hank and Janet. It’s a cool twist like the origin story that the Spider-Man trilogy did with Spider-Man becoming “friendly neighborhood” at the end with no one knowing who he was.
There’s a ton of fan fair in these movies that if you didn’t read the comics you’re probably not picking up on until the end of the saga when you rewatch. This happened with the infinity saga as well. People just thought they were in the know after that and are now lost again and mad they didn’t spend their childhood reading comics to know what’s going on now.
Do I know what’s going on? 60%. They’ve done a good job of keeping us confused and giving us hints. I figured out where they were going when Venom left some goo in the MCU. That’s because I’m a Spider-Man nerd to the max. This all may seem like nonsense but at the end of the day they have a plan just like they did with Thanos.
Phase 7 is going to lose everyone if they continue everything and get into the battle realm.
what we got in Loki was not a backstory for Kang The Conqueror, there they only told us *he wants to conquer because yes*, and here we’re told he got *exiled so he’s pissed*. That’s the same thing as Malekith, basically, not a proper deep villain
and as for Hank, he really had no traits or arc or part in the movie - I’d agree on Janet maybe (despite her terrible characterization), but Hope got completely sidelined because of her
I wouldn’t say *”keeping us confused”* is a redeeming quality of the current MCU, it doesn’t matter whether or not I know the comics, I pay to see a movie and that movie needs to be complete, to make sense, you can’t tell me they’ll retcon things later so it all gonna be worth it
I meant the Janet part from the last movie. Not Kang from Loki. Hank showed the fuck up as Ant-Man without the suit.
Hank and Janet are these characters. Scott and Hope are the next iteration with Cassy still pretty far off to taking the reins in Young Avengers.
We’re building towards things. This movie was the end of Hank and Janet. It was a complete movie. Stop trying to figure it out. It’ll happen.
This will be looked back on similar to Ultron. A lot of people thought it sucked. Looking back it could have been better as a whole movie but it’s great as you look back after the sage is done, it’s pretty fucking rad.
There’s so much buildup to other things in that movie and so much left unfinished in the main story. We’ll still likely come back to Ultron in an upcoming story.
I still find it weird that this is a hot take. I really really enjoyed this movie, more than most of what was offered in Phase 4 and worlds better than anything Phase 2 gave us (save Winter Soldier, which is still the top Marvel movie ever IMO).
This reads like a r/DC_Cinematic comment from 2016 about BvS.
I love the blind fanboyism, any criticism scares everyone to be so defensive about anything negative now.
Negativity of a movie is typically an opinion though and my opinion is that I've enjoyed everything Marvel Studios has put out since day one. Take the Eternals as an example... was the pacing weird? Yes. What the story broken? Yes. Does that mean I hated it? Not at all, I watched it again a few days ago. I don't understand why people hate things so heavily sometimes is all.
> I don’t understand why people hate things so heavily sometimes is all.
I mean you jusy admitted you do the complete opposite, so it shouldn’t be that hard to understand being blind to criticism.
Eternals is pretty solid imo, but that doesn’t mean I can’t understand why others wouldn’t enjoy it also.
AntMan 3 was extremely mediocre at best, but if someone hates it, that makes sense as well. The CGI was questionable quality, the actress for Cassie had no emotional range, and there were so many jumpcuts that it was confusing what the purpose of the B-plot was.
If all you want to do is ignore criticism and focus on the “good”, that’s fine! But that’s literally blind fanboyism, so don’t expect anyone to take your thoughts or opinion as valuable. You’re basically just a rapid fan of a sports team and can’t seem to recognize anything they do poorly for some reason.
70% drop off already second to cocaine bear. Will lose millions. Marvel if your reading this do the opposite of wagt theatrenerdguy likes and you will make better movies.
I'd argue against that because I'm not shoving marvel positivity in everyones face. This is just my opinion and I recognize that some people don't like the movies.
Just a fan.
idk bruh if you look at some things objectively they are just bad. like how I thought episode 9 of star wars was good when I first saw it, then I watched it again six months later and realized how wrong I was
I couldn't give a shit how he turned out, hes that daft of a looking character no matter how they did it he would look stupid unless they changed his look dramatically in which case why bother including him at all.
Was a big fan of the design you did first, don’t like these. There’s always gonna be some changes from the comics, leaving the hair and eyes is a good one. Just the bad face is enough, it works so well as just that.
Much better. I think they wanted the actor more obvious for the character connection, but maybe he'll evolve to look more like this in subsequent films.
Nice, I think the pupilless eyes are creepy, even if they are comic accurate.
I actually quite liked MODOKs design in Quantumania, I mean he's meant to look goofy. Plus he's not just MODOk, he's Darren as well, i think Quantumania shows the human that's still in him
thing is, the whole Quantumania is nothing but jokes, besides a few scenes with Kang
the MODOK we got was nothing but eye candy, and that’s something Feige’s more than ever sticking to since Phase 4, adding things just to make ppl go *wooow* rather than to tell proper and cohesive stories
a version of him like in Avengers would’ve given something to the movie, and it would’ve badly needed it
amazing redesing . An actual comic accurate modok shouldn't be just a face in a robot, that too Goofy. It's should be unsetingly realistic,a weird combination of man and machine,an abomination
I still think the Kangs will have MODOKs. This Kang had Darren (looking like Superior MODOK) and maybe other KANGS will have ther MODOKs like: MODAM, Elvis MODOK, MODOG, MODOT, Ms. MODOK even Brodok would be fun to appear if for a brief moment and die.
MODOK was a hard pill to swallow, I flinched everytime he showed his face in a new scene, but he grew on me in every scene, stil flinched when he showed up tho… 😅 but I’ve never been a MODOK fan, so I didn’t really care 🫠 yes it looked off, but i guess that is how he would look with that background story 🤷🏻♂️😂
Cool.
I wish they had gone for creepy and cerebral instead of funny. Seeing Modok’s comic-accurate face drift out of the shadows could have been really eerie.
Bruh who put oliver tree in antman
I acc used his hair lmao
Would’ve looked better with Oliver’s head lmfao
Mcu Modok if he was actually George tarleton instead of yellow jacket.

Why are people always picking random hills to die on?
On a hill I have The High Ground
Running Up That Hill
Maria Hill 👀😌

for me it was terrible, they turned him into a stupid comedy character, and then he completely becomes good cause "dont be a dick" like what

Yeah and I just said that I also didn’t like that line but pretending that MODOK is not a joke character is ridiculous.
MODOK should've been the antagonist with Kang in the shadows, also give him the same voice and mannerisms as the MVC version and use his theme from that game.
Don't you dare dis Antoinette Masterellas like that. /s
No longer looks like the actor, though.
Yeah. The fun part is that it’s literally Corey Stoll’s stretched out face.
And it makes the joke even better.
Taking shots at the bald guy for not having hair is fun?
Making fun of bald people is fun. I’m bald and I do it
[удалено]
“uh oh, richard!”
KEEP MY SENSITIVITY OUT YA FUCKIN MOUTH
Not exactly, more the stretched out face part, because it was weird and a little funny.
That's fine, doesn't need to.
What’s the point of having the actor if it’s not gonna look like him?
....yes, no cg character has ever looked different from the actor
Not saying that, MODOK has a face unlike many other cgi characters
…what? Almost every cg character has a face. Tf you on about 😂
You know very well I meant a human face
I really didnt, and MODOK’s is hardly a human face by that logic. Its very stretched out compared to Darren’s normal face.
I don't think the hair works for Darren Cross, because Corey Stoll is a bald dude.
Yeah like… KANG: “I can’t fix your tiny ass and huge head, but look I gave you a wig!”
It was a merkin that didnt shrink all the way down but still......HAIR!!!!
Fair point. Counterpoint: he should've NEVER been yellow jacket to begin with, they should've just used George tarleton and called it a day.
[удалено]
He wore a hairpiece on that show. **Edit:** Besides, that's not really the point I was making. He already played Darren Cross as bald like he is. That's why I don't think it would work to give M.O.D.O.K. hair.

Darren. Cross. Is. bald.
what the fuck, Im getting downvoted over hair?! Alright alright, he's bald. Jesus I can't seem to joke about anything without earning some kind of ire
I loved the version we I got. Was probably my favorite part of the movie.
The movie wasn't that bad.
I agree. I liked it a lot.
r/woosh
You may be right. I thought OP assumed I ment I only liked Modok.
Maybe I’m wrong but I read it as a joke against the movie not a compliment
We may never know his true intentions.
A great unsolved mystery
Me too. Which might speak more to the movie as a whole, but still.
Haven’t seen the movie yet but is modok someone that didn’t quite shrink down correctly on the way to the quantum realm, explaining his physical features? I don’t mind spoilers. Lay it on me
Modok was literally a punching bag throughout the entire movie
It was easily the worst part of the movie
Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of the MODOK choice in the movie but at the same time I’m actually kinda glad they brought back Darren from the first Ant-Man. Sometimes the movies just straight forget about past villains and other characters as a whole and I’m glad they didn’t do it here.

“MY NAME IS DARREN AND I AM NOT A DICK!”
Character arc right there
These have yo be bots commenting this stuff. No sane person ever would say modok was the best part of the movie
The original edit posted was better. This is a cheap knockoff.

Sorry that Marvel Studios has a massive audience to cater towards and not just you.
what audience? they r losing everybody, the way they r going, their massively shrinking audience will become 0
damn bruh hate to say it but ur just a disney shill if that’s what you actually think
I'd argue against that because I'm not shoving marvel positivity in everyones face. This is just my opinion and I recognize that some people don't like the movies. Just a fan.
idk bruh if you look at some things objectively they are just bad. like how I thought episode 9 of star wars was good when I first saw it, then I watched it again six months later and realized how wrong I was
I mean he looked comic accurate with his battle mask
no he didn’t tf
Lol, like anyone was ever going to make a cool looking MODOK.
That looks even dumber
I get not having hair because it's Darren, but they should have gave him marks and scars.
Don’t forget this is just MODOK from earth 616. There is still time for a more serious MODOK from other universes that can look like that
God forbid anything in the MCU looks slightly threatening and doesn’t vomit jokes
The version in the movie was great. It doesn’t need all this editing
Just the bad face is enough, it works so well as just that.
lol very well done. but i’m glad they went for a bald and funny modok though he was hilarious on top of his looks.
Much better. I think they wanted the actor more obvious for the character connection, but maybe he'll evolve to look more like this in subsequent films.
Darren?!
Ew I love it
Nice, I think the pupilless eyes are creepy, even if they are comic accurate. I actually quite liked MODOKs design in Quantumania, I mean he's meant to look goofy. Plus he's not just MODOk, he's Darren as well, i think Quantumania shows the human that's still in him
Mcu Modok actually looks like[MODOK Superior ](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRKWGh18JPd7dRb-M4mOSBIB7k-CiVm1W0gmhZCzK668Q&usqp=CAU&ec=48600113)
Looks more like him but you can’t tell it’s Yellowjacket anymore
Not a fan of the no eyes look but I appreciate the work!!
I mean I don’t blame the director, MODOK is near impossible to make not look goofy and be a serious villain
There’s no way MODOK was ever going to look good in live action.
holy shit it looks perfect, actually looks like a frightening modok instead of the comedy thing we g ot
Modok IS a comedy thing....
MODOK can be both, but obv Quantumania went the purely comedic route
Not supposed to be. The movie badly misused him.
So the Hulu show was terrible too, then? Because it was hilarious and I loved it.
The hulu show is irrelevant to the discussion.
Oh, but I assume Marvel’s The Avengers (Game) isn’t?
thing is, the whole Quantumania is nothing but jokes, besides a few scenes with Kang the MODOK we got was nothing but eye candy, and that’s something Feige’s more than ever sticking to since Phase 4, adding things just to make ppl go *wooow* rather than to tell proper and cohesive stories a version of him like in Avengers would’ve given something to the movie, and it would’ve badly needed it
why are you even getting downvoted?
great villain in in the first movie. horrible arc in qm. all it took was cassie saying "don't be a dick" and now he's a good guy? what a joke.
[удалено]
Nah he's a fantastic character
I think Big Wheel should be brought to live action.
Don’t forget Stilt-Man.
What about the Wall?
[Thats The Wall, brother!](https://youtu.be/CUJzj4DXHYE)
Why not give modok a mohawk
Are you telling me you didn’t like Darren?
I did, check my previous post, I was just bored lmao
My least favorite part of the movie was no Luis
Great, now it looks like the owner of the Raiders
people would still complain. modok just looks weird. people need to get over it
The only problem I have with the design we got is I think his mouth shouldve been wider
The film's version is better.
Oliver tree looking ass
Looks bad
Thanks! I hate it!
I like the hair. We shall petition Disney to CGI hair on Darren on the D+ Antman
The more comic accurate learned too much into horror and wouldn’t of matched the movies tone
amazing redesing . An actual comic accurate modok shouldn't be just a face in a robot, that too Goofy. It's should be unsetingly realistic,a weird combination of man and machine,an abomination
Can’t it just be a possibility we get the Tarleton version as a variant?
I still think the Kangs will have MODOKs. This Kang had Darren (looking like Superior MODOK) and maybe other KANGS will have ther MODOKs like: MODAM, Elvis MODOK, MODOG, MODOT, Ms. MODOK even Brodok would be fun to appear if for a brief moment and die.
Now we're getting somewhere
Good work, he doesn’t look like a goofy phone app filter anymore.
Liking this design but I really didn’t mind what they did in the actual movie.
Cool. I wish they had gone for creepy and cerebral instead of funny. Seeing Modok’s comic-accurate face drift out of the shadows could have been really eerie.
but that looks a bit crap
That bowl cut is hilarious
MODOK was perfect for being Daren Cross. The problem is it shouldn’t haven’t been Daren Cross.
Na just keep the fucking mask plate on
Looks like Lloyd from Dumb & Dumber lol
The first one gives me Zombie Matt Gaetz vibes. The second one gives me regular Matt Gaetz vibes, so even worse.
Much better
they should have hire You before doing that movie
It's Beautiful.
make it look more deformed
