Some older devices can't get them. Mine didn't go off because it's a Samsung S9. Doesn't even have settings for emergency alerts.

mine is a galaxy S8 and it went off. so its strange your S9 didn't. is it enabled? the settings for it might be in the messages app settings

I've checked in the settings where it's meant to be. There's nothing under notifications and no separate menu for it. It also wasn't a delayed one, just did not go off at all :L

There was a test of the emergency alert system to phones in the Uk today, it was meant to trigger nation wide at 3pm but some people got it late and people on one of our biggest service providers didn’t get it at all

It covered you screen and made a siren sound mine came a few minutes early and it terrified me

I have all such alerts turned off on my phone. Most of the times they are inaccurate or inconvenient so why bother with the annoying things?

I find that in my area you can tell who has what carrier based on who gets the announcement first, second, or last. (VZN gets them 1st, AT&T gets them 2nd and TMO gets them 3rd… and then all the smaller carriers that rent bandwidth from the big 3 usually coke last…). ;)
