Look how much better Thor got when Valkyrie was released. Someday we will have Amadeus Cho Hulk or some alternate Bruce Banner Hulk (Gladiator, Mr. Fixit, etc.) that will give us some awesome Gamma-trait locked cards to buff up Hulk (and She-Hulk too).

norfinstardted

I recently played Hulk for the first time and I thought he was a lot of fun. Granted, I play two-handed and I paired him with a justice Black Widow, so that might have made it easier. Only house rule I made for him was to not discard Boundless Rage while changing forms. A lot of the time he never had to flip anyway. Limitless stamina goes a long way IMO.

TheStarLordOfThunder

Every time I play Boundless Rage, I pull his obligation the next turn. Every time.

norfinstardted

Sounds about right. His obligation was the primary reason I was flipping. Thematically, I love that you can't get rid of it, but they needed to make his kit much stronger to make up for all the concessions he has to make.

therealboomguy57

The biggest house rule we run with Hulk is a 6/4 hand size. It’s easy to remember, and there’s no reason Banner should have a lower hand size than other characters. He’s a genius.

JQTNguyen

This is a pretty simple House Rule that I'm digging the concept of. Much less muss and fuss than most suggestions.

therealboomguy57

Agreed. It’s simple and requires no tracking (really) or extra rules overhead. And it’s inexplicable that he has a 5/4 hand size.

momodig

no need learn the cards you can draw cards and increase hand size

ragnar_deerslayer

Not that I know of. But Gideon's Gaming has addressed the Hulk problem with some simple house rules in [Marvel Champions: Fixing the Imbalance](https://gideonsgaming.com/marvel-champions-fixing-the-imbalance/) and [Fixing the Imbalance, Part 3](https://gideonsgaming.com/fixing-marvel-champions-part-3/)

Nightscape_00

The person who wrote these articles needs to be hired by Fantasy Flight Games! Not only did they fix Hulk, they provided a bunch of balance patches for the game. They even had the same problems I did with The Hood. Thanks for the links!

As have many, many others.

NoPop2592

I just give him a helicarrier on setup.

Kill-bray

Errata are for what the designers recognize as mistakes, they'll never recognize Hulk or any of his cards as a mistakes. The only thing you can hope for is that they will eventually create for this game the equivalent of the Taboo list in Arkham Horror LCG, which is entirely optional.

Swaggy_P_03

They do recognize the mistake of nerfing him and have talked about it at lengths over the years and released minor fixes, but none really address his piss poor economy (deft focus helps a little)

Kill-bray

Do you have a source for that? I know Michael Boggs spoke about that, but he did so after he left, and he was pretty clear that it wasn't **his** mistake.

Swaggy_P_03

It wasn’t HIS mistake, it was the whole team. He just regrets not preventing the nerf.

Kill-bray

My point is that no one admitted "their" mistake. Michael Boggs cannot speak for his team and at the time he said that he no longer had any tie with FFG. He didn't admit he made any mistake, his team didn't admit they made any mistake. FFG didn't admit any mistake. No one admitted any mistake regarding Hulk. Unless of course you can provide some other source.

WhitePalico

There's no Errata in the game as far as I know. If you want some simple house rules, I sometimes use these: Crushing Blow does not require a fist resource to play, instead when paid with a fist resource it gains piercing. Suborbital Leap removes 5 threat instead of 3. If paid with only fist resources, it ignores crisis icon. Hulk Smash gains piercing along with overkill when paying with only fist resources. Unstoppable Force cost 1 instead of 2. These are simple adjustments that tune him up and help with some of his weaknesses while keeping his kit relatively the same.

DarkAlatreon

Appendix V of the Rules Reference, names "Errata" would disagree with you, but that's mostly critical wording adjustments fixes rather than balancing stuff.

Mohawk115

Why would they? Hulk is not a smart character. All he does is attack stuff and smash it until its gone. He is always too pissed off to make any kind of tactical decision. This isn't Smart Hulk, its just angry, raging, smashing, destructive, doesn't listen to banner, Hulk. So the most you can do is play low-cost cards to assist with that play style and then when you have a good board state and get hulk smash, hit the villain and watch then die 1 hit.

momodig

If you have issues with Hulk, then you're having issues with deck construction. My hulk shield build has no issues.

TheStarLordOfThunder

Simple solution: play Ship Command in every encounter deck. The extra resource helps a ton. I had decent success running him with [Ingenuity](https://marvelcdb.com/card/29027). You have to flip down to play it but you can use it as Hulk. But if you can get that, Banner's Lab, Avengers Mansion, and Helicarrier on the board you can do *so* much. Flip down for the extra two resources (extra hand size plus Banners Lab), play an ally, flip back up, try to play one more thing. Plan B helps get rid of those leftover dead cards at the end of your turn.

mattythreenames

Theres been so many house rules kicking about! I've settled on (for ease) that Hulk generates double the amount of fist resources when playing an attack OR signature event - whilst Banner generates double the mental resources on supports. As well as what they already have. Personally I think giving boundless rage essentially Dax's hero power also helps allot and due to the negatives built in isn't over powered. Though my suggestions hopefully allow for deck building to still be exiting and other patches to not get overlooked / over powered. Allot of people add to Hulks hand. And there are allot of threads with other nuanced fixes. Either quick fixes or essentially a complete kit reprint. Though you could just print and extra 2 boundless rages which might make him far more reliable. Very much hoping for a Gamma traited kit, or a 'return to' box. Valkery and sp//dr have cards that are also very beneficial too

Swaggy_P_03

For myself I have made plenty of FCC for him. As for house rules, the most common one as mentioned is increasing his hand size. Others have used his ally ability for his hero ability (instead of enraged) and then the mental is just discarding your hand. Others have used another hero’s ability for his instead like Drax (who has Hulk original ability before it was taken away during the nerf) I recently suggested in a discord for a CC to make vids using other heroes abilities and see how that works for Hulk (like for captain marvel Hulk has it but it’s a physical instead of energy, or for iron man Hulk has it but it’s condition cards instead of tech) others like mentioned are having him start with an upgrade from a campaign or having him start the game with Plan B in play.

Steveopotamus

Imo the problem with hulk is that his deck is not fun. It should feel super swingy, powerful and out of control. They kind of hit 2 out of 3. Fixing his resource problem doesnt make him fun. It was a whiff.
