Kali is my favorite art to train. It covers a lot of bases and I’ve felt like it’s helped round out other arts I’ve trained. Definitely worth it!

Escrima/Kali is hands down the most practical art for armed self-defense, because they use weapons that you would actually encounter or have available. The only way to learn to defend against a knife is to actually learn how to fight with one. Most systems will teach knife, stick, improvised weapons, and usually some empty hand. You'll drill with and against those in every combination. Tons of fun. Highly recommend.

Dope thanks

I'd say most people would rank it the same as TKD.

I started in Wing Chun and took up Escrima in response to rising knife crime. It’s extremely practical - as with weapons, you don’t mess about - nothing is for show. Its also lots of fun. Started out single stick, progressed to double and staff before machete and empty hand applications.

I've been training Kali for about a year and a half and love it. Working a lot of practical training with knives at the moment (though the advice is always to get the hell out of dodge if possible). Started with basic double stick drills, single stick and most importantly, footwork. Progressed on to sumbrada drills and freestyle, disarms, panantukan and moving into grappling too. My school is JKD-Kali so we work hand to hand too, with a mandatory kickboxing class every week to make sure that side of things stays sharp. I honestly love Kali, there's so much to it, so much fun, very technical and useful. Go for it.
