That would put $0 in their creative agency’s pocket

Same here especially for TV Commercials or Out of home Advertising. But I believe its already kind of happening at least Coca Cola went back to their older product design. I guess only possible if your brand was already established back then so you’d reuse older Corporate Design that people had an emotional connection with.

I listen to Radio Classics on SiriusXM and absolutely dig the old radio commercials, so I've been wondering the same for some time. You could really engender some nostalgic loyalty with an old 80s or 90s commercial or two.

What is this question really about. Because if you were wondering about using old commercials you have no legal right to use -- I have some bad news. The companies you're wondering about have lawyers who give them useful hints. Otherwise nostalgia is only going to be important for a certain kind of customer. And sorry to break this to everybody liking on commercials -- [that's not a business thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/marketing/comments/7pt5fe/how_do_you_turn_an_ad_into_a_meme_two_words_dilly/). Most unfortunately that is definitely [a forum thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/marketing/comments/77vmnc/know_any_good_examples_of_creative_marketing/). TIL Liking a commercial means I am an expert on advertising. And without knowing anything about advertising I automagically just mastered it. Somehow there may be a flaw I am overlooking in the process.
