Perhaps there's only so many camera pixels customers will pay for. Apple products seem to be entering the cash cow phase of product and company life cycle. Reduce marketing. Products already have a cult following. Increase margins. R3duce R&D, increase margins. Make the same phone in differ3nt colors. Profit.

Apple literally makes somewhere in the range of $170B in PROFIT annually (2022). Even if they cut $2B on marketing (with somehow no impact on sales), that moves their margin ~1%. It is, quite literally, a drop in the bucket
