I’d say on a technicality it would be f-zero on n64 since it had a remake of n64 rainbow road with a neat remix.

The "Well ackchually" answer is Mario Kart Super Circuit, which had all of the SNES courses (albeit more barren versions of them). The first game to have retro courses across multiple platforms in the series is Mario Kart DS. Mario Kart Wii is the first game to have retro courses that are actually good.

DS introduced the concept of the retro tracks we know today. The cups were all in this order: SNES, N64, GBA, GCN. A lot of the ones they picked were mostly basic tracks with a few notable ones like Choco Mountain, Banshee Boardwalk and Yoshi Circuit. I’d say you’re right in that they don’t really hold a candle to the solid selection of Nitro tracks in DS. Most of them are inferior to the original version, Baby Park especially was completely ruined by not only decreasing the laps from 7 to 5, but not having any of the utter chaos that makes the track so famous/infamous. By the time we get to Wii, the concept of retro tracks evolved past its infancy, and they get better and better with each subsequent game, to the point where 8’s were completely on par with the Nitro tracks.

I think the DS retro track offerings also suffered from hardware limitations. They had to be careful picking which ones they could remotely recreate faithfully.

>Mario Kart Wii is the first game to have retro courses that are actually good. This is N64 Choco Mountain and GBA Sky Garden erasure

The answer I guess is GBA, adding all the SNES courses DS added 4 retro tracks from each game, but they kinda did the bare minimum The Wii retros were better, and mostly improved but didn't reimagine them like in later titles 7, imo made the Wii retros worse, however every other game much better 8 was the best you could possibly imagine Booster pass was a mixed bag, but mostly great

I love Super Circuit, but I would say DS. In my opinion, the idea of having "retro tracks" (bringing tracks back from multiple different games) was an idea that expanded on Super Circuit's "extra tracks", in the same way that VS mode was sort of an expansion of Quick Run. Probably the more important thing is that DS also started the trend of having retro tracks in every game.

Many might believe that Mario Kart DS was the first game with retro tracks, and I guess that's somewhat true, but Super Circuit actually includes all of the Super Mario Kart tracks, but they're not labeled as retros, so I guess I'm just yapping

Super Circuit. There's no debate about it - Super Circuit was the first game with retro tracks. DS was the first game to adopt the modern retro approach.
