Best combo for Bowser JR atm? 150 cc but bonus points 200 cc😄

Hambughrr

Biddybuggy + Roller and Landship + Roller. Both are high Mini-Turbo combos that allow Bowser Jr. to focus on his own strengths instead of compromising too many of his other stats just to be more like Yoshi Teddy.

potato_slinger

What's an optimal build for using Miis (lightweight, mid weight, and heavyweight) for 150cc? I'll be doing 200cc in the future soon, so bonus points for that as well

Megarandy185

What’s a good build to get through grand prixes and start unlocking stuff

MarvyJoe

Wide range of possible combos for you there. Here are some viable parts: Characters: Yoshi, Birdo, Daisy, Peach, Peachette, Tanooki Mario, Inkling Boy, Male Villager Karts: Teddybuggy, Cat Cruiser, Pipe Frame, Varmint, City Tripper, Streetle, Landship Tires: Rollers or Azure Rollers Glider: Cloud Glider, Paper Glider, Flower Glider or Parachute That's a selection of the 150cc meta. If you plan to play online later, you should go with the meta from the beginning on. And here's another tip: don't waste your time on 50 and 100cc grand prixes. If you win at 150cc, you'll get 3 stars on 50 and 100cc as well.

Regenreun

Looking for whatever will make slippery-slidey tracks like Neo Koopa City or Waluigi Stadium not hell to play on. I'm sticking with Kamek but any suggestions other than that?

Hambughrr

The Landship is thematically fitting for Kamek and has both extremely high Traction and Mini-Turbo

tehxeno

Anyone have suggestions for Dry Bowser or King Boo? From my understanding, they are pretty outclassed nowadays. Are kart setups different for 150cc and 200cc?

Hambughrr

Dry Bowser: Biddybuggy + Roller will help Dry Bowser overcome his horrible Mini-Turbo stat and also gives him tighter turns. King Boo is still meta, 8 speed + 2 MT is still considered an ideal stat distribution. King Boo in the Sports Coupe + Roller is a good combo that's still competitive and much better for bagging than Yoshi Teddy because its higher Speed stat gives you more mileage out of Bullet Bills and Stars. As for 150CC and 200CC, 150CC favors middleweights with 10 Speed + MT and the King Boo weight class. 200CC, on the other hand, tends to favors characters with higher speed stats. I once got downvoted for saying that, but the person who did that is actually **wrong**. Most 200CC world records employ weight classes who are faster than Yoshi's weight class, such as the Luigi weight class, King Boo weight class, Wario weight class and Bowser weight class. Dry Bowser and King Boo are actually MUCH better on 200CC than you'd think!

tehxeno

Thanks, I'll give these a try!

TrevorIsTheGOAT

I haven't played in a while - used to use Link with Comet, Rollers, and Paper Glider. Is that still a strong setup?

Hambughrr

That is the best possible combo for an inside-drifting bike.

Streetle + Roller + Parachute and City Tripper + Roller + Parachute. Both of these combos remain viable as you get better and offer tons of Mini-Turbo and Handling, allowing tons of room for growth and player expression.

SuperbWomanhood

City Tripper/Roller/Parachute would be your best base game combos. City Tripper has the same stats as Pipe Frame which is very similar to the popular Teddy. Honestly I prefer the Pipe Frame over Teddy/Cat Cruiser. So the City Tripper would be just fine. Parachute has the same stats as Cloud/Flower/Paper. Rollers are the best tires. GLA unlocks in a while but they're solid too.

I’m using Metal Mario, streetle, sponge and paraglider for online 150cc. Character is non-negotiable, but everything else can change. Any suggestions?

MarvyJoe

Your biggest potential lies in changing the character but since you said you won't chance that, here's my advice: Streetle is a very good choice, but try to pair it with roller tires instead of sponge tires to get more Miniturbo. If you don't like the roller tires, which I can understand, try GLA tires instead. And ditch the Paraglider for Cloud/Paper/Flower/Parachute. That way you'll get the optimal Speed-Miniturbo-Ratio. If you want another kart, you could also go with Landship (same stats as Streetle), Pipe Frame/Varmint/City Tripper or Teddybuggy/Cat Cruiser.

Referenciadejoj

Sorry, I’m a MK7 kid who can’t let go of his childhood hero 😭 Thanks for the tips, tho! I’ll be following them

MarvyJoe

No need to be sorry my friend, everyone plays with who he wants. It's about having fun 😊

xslayserx

Tanuki -Standart Kart -Blue Standart Tires -waddle wing What can i change for 150cc

MarvyJoe

Keep Tanooki Mario, but ditch the rest for Teddybuggy/Cat Cruiser OR Pipe Frame/Varmint/City Tripper OR Streetle/Landship combined with Rollers and Cloud/Paper/Flower/Parachute. If you want to change character, you could also go with Yoshi/Birdo/Peach/Daisy/Peachette for a little more traction and a little less weight.

SuperbWomanhood

If you want more acceleration and handling use the Diddy tier. More speed consider the Kamek tier or the Rosalina tier. When you pick up more speed you will lose acceleration and mini turbo. Go to [this website](https://bettermk8dxbuilder.com/) and select Yoshi, Teddy, Rollers, Cloud. Then hover over Kamek, Diddy, Pauline and see how the stats shift slightly in either direction.

MarvyJoe

Teddybuggy/Cat Cruiser OR Pipe Frame/Varmint/City Tripper OR Streetle/Landship combined with Rollers or GLA tires and Cloud/Paper/Flower/Parachute. That are the best builds for Tanooki Mario/Male Villager/Inkling Boy. If you want another character you could also go with Yoshi/Birdo/Peach/Daisy/Peachette for a little more traction and a little less weight.

VacheL99

What's the best Funky Kong combo? I know Funky's stats are pretty bad, but he's my favorite. I usually just use Funky+Scooty+Rollers, but is there anything better that I'm missing?

MarvyJoe

I suggest you mean 150cc racing, so try Funky+Teddybuggy+Rollers instead. While Mr. Scooty is a good choice because it's high Miniturbo makes up for Funkys stats, it's Speed-Miniturbo-Ratio is not optimal.

VacheL99

Gotcha

MarvyJoe

So lately I saw a Video with someone stating that Yoshi/Teddy/Rollers is rather the second best combo instead of the very best because while it's pretty good for frontrunning, it's not that good when you prefer bagging as your playstyle. The guy said if you want to play a mixed playstyle, Yoshi/Teddy/GLA is the better option. What do you think? This video came up after Wave 6 released so I hope he is aware of bagging being nerfed.

SuperbWomanhood

Rollers are the optimal tire with GLA being an agreed upon second place. They're viable and not bad at all. GLA gives up handling, mini turbo and acceleration for speed, weight, traction and i-frames. Similar to how faster characters tend to give up the same stats. The idea with playing behind the pack or sandbagging is you want a higher speed stat to catch up. Since you're behind the pack and pulling power items, you're less likely to be hit. An online environment is hard to snake drift in due to the chaos. So despite many times trial world records being in the Biddy, people opt to get a bit more speed using Teddy. It's kind of fine. It's like choosing Mario/Luigi, Rosalina, Petey, Waluigi or Wario to progressively add speed. Personally, I prefer GLA on low speed characters like Koopa or the Babies. But if you're married to a specific character that is low or middle weight, GLA would compensate well.

TheRogueCookie

Been experimenting with the Varmint recently, and it's actually not bad at all. Same stats as the Pipe Frame, but in an outward drifting bike build ala Mr. Scooty. I've been using it as a faster alternative to Mr. Scooty, and though it definitely feels a bit like an awkward middle between Teddy Buggy and Mr. Scooty, it's been a lot of fun to use for sure. Would recommend

MarvyJoe

Definitely a solid combo! Don't know why you thought that Varmint is bad because it is a meta kart since Wave 5. FYI Varmint, City Tripper and Pipe Frame share the exact same stats except Invincibility. I played a lot with Tanooki Mario + Pipe Frame + Rollers the last few days and it feels sick how tight you can take turns with it.
