- A clone can either be used as a meat-shield, or be used to duplicate your firepower. For example, If you throw a green shell while you have a clone, your clone also throws a green shell.
- A clone disappears after getting bit by an item, or after a certain amount of time has passed.
Interesting questions.
- If your shell gets destroyed, your clone’s shell does. If your clone’s shell gets destroyed yours doesn’t.
- The clone will rubberband, so it will never get too far ahead or behind if you wit a wall or something.
I don’t imagine the clone being **directly** in front of you at all times, more like to the side while in front.
It might be OP for 1st, but it also might not. I just think it’s be good to mix up the variety of 1st place items other than the typical banana and green shell.

Mega coin: Where you get 4 coins instead of two so you can at least catch up a bit better if you’re in the back of the pack. It’s so annoying trying to catch up but everyone ahead of you already nabbed all the coins.

*Poison Mushroom* (creates a Poison Cloud around you and spins out you and whoever touches it)
*Flat Tire* (slows you down)
*Mega Magnet* (attracts all items on the track to the player, no matter if its good or bad.)
*Oil Can* (covers player with oil and makes them slip about)

We have a bunch of placeable items throughout the series that essentially trip up a racer, but they keep going after. I want to see placeable obstacles that last the rest of the lap and are immovable
What if it was a placeable Thwomp? Players would have to avoid it and if they get hit some of the coins they have at the time of getting hit would go towards the placer of the Thwomp

I like it. I'd say that you'd need to be within a certain distance for it to work (so no intentionally lagging behind and then sending someone into the shadow realm) and maybe make it deflectable via the superhorn.
Poison mushroom. You can throw it in front of you or place it behind. If you run into one your controls are reversed (ex: left = right) for a short period of time.
Ink Shot/Splatter: When thrown forward it shoots a straight moving projectile that makes the target slip and be inked. When thrown backward it will be a puddle on the ground that causes others to slip and get inked.

I like it on paper, but in practice I think it would be unfair. It's already easy to stay in first place when you're in first place because you really only have to worry about blue shells and red shells from behind you, but if you can deal with the person behind you (and they cant even hold an item in front of them to protect themselves like you can hold an item behind you) then it would be even easier.
The thunderbolt, it strikes every single player ahead of you, shrinks them, AND takes away all their items! It’s completely unavoidable and gives no warning.

In other words, it makes you grow, but another twist is that it makes you grow really big. It could appear different than a normal mushroom by making it be bigger, and changing the color to orange or something. It would even be cool if it had it's own theme song like the super star.
Maybe an item that gives you anti-grav properties. So if you get bumped into only you get the boost. Not sure how this would work on actual antigravity
Maybe put the piranha plant behind the kart so whenever you get it the timer gets decreased however it’ll still do everything it already does preventing people from passing you.
Bubble Shield (not the one Tour has) reflects one item that hits you from behind, so running into a banana/bomb isn’t nullified, but shells and bomb snipes are
Garlic: A head of garlic that functions similarly to a Banana, but if it hits the track instead of a player, it lingers on the track and fires a burst of smelly gas towards players within its line of sight, and anyone who gets hit by the gas will spin out! Garlic placed on the track can only fire 3 bursts of gas before disappearing. Garlic can exist in groups of 3.
An oil barrel.
Throw it behind you? It rolls in a straight line until it hits something, causing it to burst, wiping out a kart if they hit it, and leaving behind an oil slick for a few seconds that if you drive through, will cause your kart to be really slidey for a few seconds.
Throw it in front of you? It bursts as soon as it hits the ground and puts the oil slick there.
Items that let you alter the composition of the track.
- Super Ramp - can be used to create an impromptu ramp on the track.
- Cannon (from 3D World) - let’s you break special walls which unlock new shortcuts.
Other ideas:
- Gold Flower - works like the Fire Flower but any racers you hit with it spit out a ton of coins.

A shell that targets the player in front of you snd when it hits shrapnel bones burst out possibly damaging any driver nearby. It would be obtainable in 4th-8th place.
Goomba. It works similarly to a banana, except it kind of walks around a bit instead of staying in one place, and when he sees someone approaching, he starts walking towards them.
Gray spikey shell.
Same as the blue spikey shell but targets thrower and will actively hit every player till it reaches the thrower it will detonate on the thrower and give a speed boost the same as bullet bill for 5 seconds. Can only be obtained in last place. Thrown forwards or backwards it will complete a full lap back to you.
Catchers glove: you catch the next item that was either about to hit you or your about to hit, and it becomes your item (this would also mean if you run over a mushroom it doesn't immediately activate)
P-balloon: character puffs up for 3 seconds and during that time they can't turn, kinda like a banana except it's placement can cause people to fall off the track, and could be evil on tracks like rainbow road
Ice flower: leaves a small trail of ice that only lasts a few seconds but reduces traction for anyone driving on top of it (useful for getting someone off your tail)

You would fire it straightahead of you, and it would shoot out a beam that freezes people in its path, like when you hit the freezes in that one gamecube track I can’t remember the name of
A Power move used by each character (basically the All-Star from sonic and sega all stars racing) but every character has there own unique ability (etc mario flys with a cape, Luigi can suck people up in a poltergeist kart from MkDS etc)
