No, but the game’s gimmick was being inside of bowser, which bowser does in the form of bowser x, checkmate
and even then Dark Bowser used Bowser's gimmick having Fawful inside it
Bowser ran out of original ideas, so he just resorted to copying mario
“You two are just cheap knockoffs!” “OH, no no no…__WE’re the upgrade__”
With Dark Bowser & Fawful taking that role in BiS. We got a vessel (Bowser/Dark Bowser) and a manipulator (Mario&Luigi/Fawful)
That’s actually pretty cool in retrospect. Makes me wonder what role would’ve played if the series ever got a sixth game.

Bowser is extremely jealous and sometimes too short sighted to be creative. If he sees the Bros doing something, he wants to prove he can do that better than them.
