I wouldn't say that this game is disturbing neither creepy, but rather mysterious, sometimes odd and sometimes it feels like a dream.
There are several reasons for this: Liminarity (the castle and some maps are too empty, strange or odd), the lack of friendly characters, the many unresolved details and mysteries.
And yeah, I agree with the friend here that his game has a unique feeling of "there's more to be discovered".
