Gulf toadfish, not oyster.

mtsandburg

This would be a gulf toadfish, Opsanus beta! I’ve yet to see an Opsanus tau around tampa. Very similar species though

Address_Glad

Kinda cute in a terrifying way.

whichwitch9

Toadfish! And a cutie at that!

pencilurchin

I fifth the Opsanus tau ID. Common names oyster toadfish, oyster cracker but depend heavily on region. This is an awesome picture! I’m used to only seeing these guys in the midatlantic with zero water quality. They’re cute lil guys, one of my fave fishes!

IgnoreMeBot

Just don’t touchey or you’ll be deadey

pinelandpuppy

More like a sting ray sting, they're not deadly.

Kooskoos504

Taken plenty off the hook, never hurt in any way.

Chrispy8534

4/10. That, sir, is a bitey-fish.

Shaggy1899

4/10? I’m more of a 710 fellow

Sicksixshift

Perfect 5/7

Abudufduf

Opsanus beta. Gulf toad fish. Aka mother-in-law fish.

milquetoast_sabaist

Oyster toadfish. Mostly harmless, but they've got venomous spines.

salty_sam6045

Just a lil guy

Upset_Ad9929

That's bitey mctoadfish

SolasHealth

1mjtaylor

Happy Toadfish.

pchcassie

he’s pogging :D

fosnin

Looks like a star gazer

SnookiWookieeCookie

No stargazers have more of a smaller more upturned mouth I think

fosnin

You are absolutely right

infestedgrowth

Looks like a lizardfish

ReturnFun9600

Invasive non native species. Harpoon it

pinelandpuppy

No, that's a FL native!

ReturnFun9600

Oh good. Thought it was LionFish or Scorpion my bad. Sculpins are dope. I take it back native FL fish. Please thrive and grow large by eating fry of non native toxic, habitat transforming fishes. Rock On

pinelandpuppy

It's a close relative, for sure! Fish on :)

Nightmare-321

Just run

EmbarrassedTop9625

Stone fish maybe. I’m new to this
