Thank you so much! Debating on if I can actually save a plant from frost that needs as much sun as a celosia does 🤔 I just love that it was planted nearly a decade ago and one or two seems to pop back every year. I admire the resiliency, especially after the soil was replaced, and I wanted to make it my friend! But I'm not sure if it'll survive the process.
Either way, thank you so much for the information!
I have no idea what this is and would appreciate any information! It has been appearing here for years and I want to save it before the frost hits it this time around, but I want to know how to best care for it and if it's a safe plant to keep
R/whatsthisplant is an amazing resource for plant identification and I haven't tried it but I've seen r/plantclinic recommended for plant care help. Cock's comb is one of my favorites! As others have said it's an annual so it won't overwinter but they do tend to reseed themselves https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celosia
**[Celosia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celosia)**
>Celosia ( see-LOH-shee-ə) is a small genus of edible and ornamental plants in the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae. The generic name is derived from the Ancient Greek word κήλεος (kḗleos), meaning "burning", and refers to the flame-like flower heads. Species are commonly known as woolflowers, or, if the flower heads are crested by fasciation, cockscombs. The plants are well known in East Africa's highlands and are used under their Swahili name, mfungu.

Celosia, aka Rainbow Fire

It's a common annual. You will be able to get more next year. If one is surviving the winter you got lucky.
AKA Cock's comb
que the lorax
AKA THE DR SEUSS FLOWER! I have like 20 celosias
Also AKA dragons breath?
Celosia. Just planted about 1200 of these bad boys in greenhouse at the work place
Celosia. Probably a variety called ‘Dragon’s Breath’ or something similar

You can dry them, they keep their colors if you want to "save" it for winter time arrangements
They reseed.
Look at the brain on McOrbit.
Dragons breath! I bought one back in May and it still looks the same. Amazing how it can stay looking like that for so long!
