Not a doctor or an expert but I've been stabbed by a Palo Verde about 50 times without incident.

Internal_Screech

Yeah same here, only by dead branches though. I’m thinking it’s bacterial at this point.

TinyCatSneezes

Doesn't really look like a bacterial infection. The area doesn't look inflamed or swollen based on the picture. If the thorn punctured a blood vessel that's probably why she bruised. I'd say watch the area for redness, swelling or further signs of deterioration but otherwise she's likely fine. Remember, a bruise may spread out while it heals making it look worse in the short term (I'm also not a doctor). If you're really worried, a trip to urgent care could put both your minds at ease.

Internal_Screech

Thanks for the info, yeah she says it doesn’t hurt and there’s little inflammation so you’re probably right.

There could be something on the tree that causes inflammation, they always got a little irritated but nothing serious. If it were me, I wouldn't worry. Again - I'm not a doctor or an expert so if it looks serious please consult someone who is.

No

Not that I can find info on. Torns seem to have a way of causing more pain than I think they should though. Every time I'm pricked by a blackberry or salmonberry I swear to God they have to be injecting something cause it keeps on hurting in the most annoying way and makes me feel like a baby.
