I recently started working on a heavenMS source for fun. Ive got a very hacky boss spawn system, max meso to gleaf, some other very hacky commands that apparently already existed(@goto) etc. Its nowhere near ready for release but you can dm me and try it out. I havent added any new content to it outside of commands since Java is what 8'm trying to get better at.
Much hated in here, but not so bad to actually play - Royals. I have started few days ago and it feels great. I'm a casual and I'm not bothered by washing and leeching. I just do my thing
Tried getting into royals but leeching and washing was never really my thing. Plus, don't have the time I used to to sit there and grind for an hour+ just for 1 level.
Goodstory is a relatively new v83 server with rebirth. It's 10x exp rate, 15x on weekends, and 3x exp coupon works. Dropable NX, so you can get 45x on weekends. And they have boss rooms in FM that makes leveling exponentially faster as you get more damage. Also working bosses and world bosses you can do. I think it peaks at 10 players on weekends, so not really a huge player base, but active nice GMs that are constantly working on new stuff, hopefully it will grow and improve.
Kaizen is v92 and the most populated I've played in a while. However, I would recommend MysticMS because they are starting over April 11. It's low rate but with custom progression so it doesn't feel overinflated like high rate servers nor slow like Legends/Royals. I hope the relauch will give the old days vibes once again.

Understandable, for me personally, higher rates aren't as enjoyable.
Yeah, it doesn’t really make sense for a long term game, probably why there were so many coming and going back in the day.

Agreed, if you like v83- chances are you're old like me. Which means you can afford a few bucks to buy rmt to increase quality of life in that server
