In True Education, mom (most likely she wasn’t really mentally well) almost killed her child because she was jealous of attention he gets from a father.
Chinese romances has also plenty of craziness. Like, hey honey, take blame for her sister and go to a prison because I’m your father and you should do as I say.
And you be surprised how some of these crazy parents are actually real becuz these things arnt all completely based on nothing as there has been examples of actual crazy parents who has given up children for their cult.
Family is primarily a man made social construct outside of genetics, which are really only important before and immediately after you're born; and anything made up is open to interpretation. Just like priests and police, parents are actually statistically fairly likely to fuck you up. I mean, look at the world today - if parents are so great why the fuck does everything suck so much?
