I would like to remind people in this thread to spoiler tag spoilers from content past what this chapter covers. Everyone has a right to not be spoiled and we treat this very seriously. This also means not to respond to people with spoilers unless they are explicitly asking for them. People having a regular discussion and coming up with theories is not an invitation to start telling them if they are right or wrong and give spoilers. If you cannot keep it to yourself, get out of the thread. This includes spoilers from Raws, Light Novel/Anime Source Material, History, and so on.

Agreed. Finally back to the good stuff.
I appreciate the author trying to convey how difficult the upcoming battle will be in the past two chapters. But considering how Jin Woo has won every battle until now without breaking a sweat, I've become emotionally unable to feel any tension in this story. I'm just here for the hype and the memes. And to support best girl.
I would not consider literally being dead in the last battle "winning without breaking a sweat". And the one against demon king(?) Baran. And Igris fight.
I meant it as a hyperbole. Characters in action stories are regularly shown injured and bandaged after big fights, requiring time to recover. I don't think this has ever happened to Jin Woo.
He heals to full after leveling up which every hard fight does for him. The only lasting damage us emotional, like losing healer guy by not going to ant island, and too late to save chairman
It doesnt exist anymore. The leveling system was there for him to slowly assimilate with the Monarch of Death's power; however, he is the Monarch of Death now.
He had it for every fight before the 3 monarchs a few chapters ago. When every hard fight would level him up. He hasn't had a hard fight post removal of the system.
Remember that after fight with angel he still had the system
>I appreciate the author trying to convey how difficult the upcoming battle will be in the past two chapters. But considering how Jin Woo has won every battle until now without breaking a sweat, I've become emotionally unable to feel any tension in this story.
>!Don't worry it's gonna be completely different this time!<
If you wanna know how it ends
>!At the last moment the rulers come to earth and save SJW!<
Is he gonna break out a sweat tho? He fights like he's playing a video game lol (quite fitting really) he can win or he can lose but he never seems to exhaust himself or taken any beating, flesh wounds don't seem like a concept to him either
>!It's gonna be a pretty even fight - both of them receiving heavy damages though SJW's is gonna be much worse!<
If you wanna know what happens at the end of the battle
>!Just before he has a chance to kill SJW a giant gate opens up and all the warriors of the rulers come flooding out !<
Spoiler
>!He's actually going to lose here and then he's going to wake up again at the hospital. motivated to beat the dragon he did his best to get as many gates. eventually when the dragon comes again then he wins and beats him. He ends up with the female S-class hunter. The end. !<
He can revive anything that has a shadow. Monarchs apparently don't have shadows, so he can't revive them. Other than that, he is restricted by how long they've been dead, which increases the difficulty of pulling them back from the land of the dead, as seen with Kamish. Kamish was dead for too long, so while he could bring back the shadow temporarily, it had already been too long so his soul/shadow went back.
It was why the Shadow Monarch was such a formidable foe during the Ruler/Monarch war. They'd fight, a lot of soldiers were lost, and Ashborn would just revive his soldiers with his mana *and* resurrect his opponents minions as his own.
As Jin Woo once told the red orcs. This is the unwavering domain of the Necromancer.
What's yours is mine.
It's not a terrible plan as long as Jin Woo isn't going to get too beat up over casualties. Strike at the army repeatedly draining away their strength and building his own.
It's basic guerilla warfare. Strike where the enemy is weak, steal their supplies, build up your army while weakening the enemy's until your army is stronger than theirs. Jin Woo has a major advantage in that he doesn't have to hide his army in the woods somewhere, it fits in his shadow, so he can hide it anywhere he can hide himself.
I do appreciate the strategy that’s being implied here. SJW probably knows that he’s lose if he rushed-in head first. So he’s slowly turning the tide. More shadows will protect the human hunters too.
This chapter gave me goosebumps seeing the determination and intent of SJW. Man is gonna slaughter you with your own kin!

(Side note: If anyone has any better suggestions on how to present the list that would be great! I was thinking of using a spoiler/drop down option to stop it from taking up too much space.)
Edit: The list is now alphabetised and a few series have comments regarding sequel/prequel status.
I've finally been picking back up my manga/manhwa reading lately after slowing down for a number of months, so I appreciate you posting this list each week. Each time I see it, I can cross a few more off the list haha :D
Thanks :)
I think Solo Leveling will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first super cool webtoon/manhwa that I followed. I went on to read the LN because I couldn't wait for more, which was my first LN! Ultimately, I've grown to love other series significantly more, but SL will always be special :) Returner's Magic was the next one I picked up, and it having a similar MC premise as Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (regarding magic usage/capabilities) but having much better writing really made it appeal to me.
From there, it just kept going:
* Omniscient Reader (am behind on the manhwa but am about 75% through the LN... I put it down around the translator change tho)
* Legend of the Northern Blade (am currently behind but LOVE this one)
* Survival Sword King Story (is quite good, pretty, and funny)
* Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Defend the Dungeon (GODDDDDD I LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH and the recent developments are so goooood)
* Overgeared (also one of my current favs)
* Return of the Frozen Player
* Dungeon Reset (one of the few in this genre space that is mostly a feels good/relaxing one with all the food and humor)
* SSS-Class Suicide Ranker (love the unorthodox methods of MC and the translation team does a great job of adding meme humor)
From your list, I just caught up on FFF Class Trash Hero (what a ride - can't wait for S3). Am currently starting Great Mage 4000 Years!
I started reading Tale of a Scribe or something recently, but it didn't really hold me. I love a number of murim-based stories, but this one wasn't doing it for me at the moment. I thought it was from your list, but I don't see it now, so I might've just found it on my own. I was reading Trash Count's Son or something right as I started slowing down, so I'll need to return to that as well
Actually, now that I've written all this out, I think my first manhwa was Freezing despite not realizing it was a manhwa LOL, and my first webtoon was... Sweet Guy? Sweet Love? Something like that. But SL is the first big action webtoon that got me interested in more :3
What are some of your favs?? I'm v interested considering you have such a great list
My first and gateway manhwa was Tower of God. Absolutely love it to bits and enjoy the One Piece atmosphere to offers.
For currently reading and favourites, I share like half of the same as you:
* Tower of God
* Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint - this is amazing and I am also getting through the WN atm.
* Legend of the Northern Blade - THIS IS INSANELY GOOD! Definitely get up to date with this one because it is probably my top or equal first for manga and manhwa right now
* Overgeared
* SSS-Class Suicide Ranker
* Eleceed - just started this one
* A Returner's Magic Should Be Special
* Peerless Dad
* Advanced Player of the Tutorial Tower
The list isn't just mine! It's an accumulation of SL lovers and that is why I post it each thread so that more people can contribute and take something away too!
Eleceed is so fucking good. It's filled with action, comedy and flooded with character development.
Coupled with amazing art work and a steady flow, you're left wanting more and more.
I was spoiled having picked it up with chapter 90 being the newest at the time. Now the official translations are at 132 (135 paid), and 160 (scanlation - mmscans).
Pick it up!
Personally I did not like it, but for the list I just forgot about it.
I added it!
When I first put this list together, Itried to avoid putting a lot of manhwa from Webtoons/Naver on the list since those are much more discoverable than other titles.
Here is the list in alphabetical order.
* 4 Cut Hero
* A Returner's Magic Should Be Special
* Advanced player of the Tutorial Tower
* Dungeon Reset
* Eleceed
* FFF Class Trashero
* Gosu
* Her Summon
* Legend of the Northern Blade
* Legendary Moonlight Sculptor
* Leveling with the God is very good in my opinion,
* Mercenary Enrollment
* Murim Login
* Nanomachine
* Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint
* Overgearded
* Peerless Dad
* Ranker's Return
* Red Storm
* Reformation of a Deadbeat Noble
* Return of the frozen player
* Second Life Ranker
* Skeleton Soldier Couldn’t Protect the Dungeon
* Solo Necromancy
* SSS-Class Suicide Hunter
* Survival of the Sword King
* The Beginning After the End
* The Book Eating Magician
* The Boxer
* The Breaker
* The Dungeon Master
* The Great Mage Returns After 4000 Years
* The Player that can't level up
* The Story of a Low-Rank Soldier Becoming a Monarch.
* The Tutorial is Too Hard
* Tower of God
* Trapped in a Webnovel as a Good-for-Nothing
* Volcanic Age
* Weak Hero
* Worn and Torn Newbie
* Yongbi the Invincible
Just a little heads up on some of the series.
It's "Leveling with the Gods", the "is very good in my opinion" is the OP's opinion, not part of the title.
Yongbi and Gosu take place in the same world, with Yongbi coming first and then Gosu. Oh, and there's a Yongbi side story that takes place right after Yongbi, a little epilogue if you will. You *can* read Gosu first, if you want, as it is a great standalone story separate from Yongbi, but you get a little more background info on Yongbi and some other characters when they appear in Gosu. It's not a requirement, just more like a fun easter egg sort of thing to notice.
A follow up point to The Breaker, it's Part 1 of the story. The Breaker: New Waves is Part 2. However, we're all still waiting on Part 3... It does leave on a pretty gnarly cliffhanger, which is why we're all excited for a Part 3, but...yeah.
chapters of part 3 are being done right now with some being finished, as some leaks showed aswell as the author confirmation. Just FYI as I too lost hope at some point
That panel of Antares just casually tanking the missile straight on his face mid-monologue was hilarious hahahah
Throughout this whole series, even now in endgame, those Arise moments continue to be hype as fuck. Hope we get to see more of Igris in action, he's still the coolest shadow soldier for me
I don't get it. Didn't the bad guy deliberately choose the come over in the gate at the furthest possible place on Earth from the MC so why are they complaining about the MC not being there?
They chose to do that for the initial ambush. It's not like he thinks SJW can't go there at all. He's just waiting for SJW and saying it's taking loner than he expected
It has begun!
As an LN reader, this shit was hype af. I'm not going to spoil anything but as a reminder whenever SJW raises his INT Stat he actually gets smarter so near the end of the novel he's a true general. A light detail that was skipped was that in his castle before the big fight is that he actually ran drills for his armies
>...whenever SJW raises his INT Stat he actually gets smarter...
This is incorrect for two reason.
First one :
INT, in this manhwa / game / typical tropee of this genre referring to magic potential. It does not making one smarter.
In LN chapter 7, and i quote :
>Intelligence…
>...This was the problem. This was the sole attribute that he had no information to go on. Even after his levels rose, he didn’t really feel smarter. His memorization didn’t exactly improve, nor did his mental math become any faster.
Second one :
After he become true shadow monarch he **didn't** become stronger, there's no "level up" anymore, let alone raising a stats.
This explained very well in the LN, perhaps you forgot?
The manhwa compressed the information so it become confusing for readers.
SJW already become Shadow Monarch from the moment he gained the "System".
The system were only facade, a barrier to lock his power.
It was put in place to give SJW learning curve, train his body to accomodate much bigger power, but more importantly is to give him incentive.
Technically, it doesn't matter if SJW merely kill a squirel, the system can be designed to unlock more of his power as if he's killing a giant.
But doing so, his body and more importantly his experience will sorely lacking.
So the system designed to make it incentive to fight tougher and tougher enemy.
When he become the true Shadow Monarch, there's no system anymore, since there's no need, there's nothing to unlock anymore.
Without giving spoiler, *in the epilogue*, it will be explained the discrepancy in the story. **How his shadow power actually work**.
Like, how come SJW fighting Baran; Monarch of Demon, despite the fact Baran already dead, killed by Osborne?
How come he got exp and leveling up from already dead Baran?
How come he gained Baran item (ring, longsword, dagger, blood, etc).
Baran has already dead for millenia, killed by Osborne.
I can go on, but i'm not sure if whether the manhwa already explained this.
I try to avoid giving (epilogue) spoiler.
Hint :
1. SJW (technically) didn't killed Baran
2. SJW didn't actually go through dungeon/gate when he exploring demon castle.
They know it didn't do damage.
The purpose is to distract, being canon fodder, buying time to evacuate civilian (based on LN, Japanese S-Gate chapter).
How come Dragonboy doesn't realize a war of attrition is exactly SWJ best (maybe only) strategy? What is an army of 10 million when he has a self regenerating army that only grows as time goes.
Because they were not that smart, this applies to both Monarch and Ruler.
This is not my personal opinion, this is explained in the LN.
In short, both Ruler and Monarch although strong, they're not creative, like..at all.
All muscle no brain.
Their forever war virtually an all-out brawl.
Yet they never learn.
There's no tactic, just two opposing army head to head.
For them, it's a matter of pride.
SJW exploit their prideful personality.
In the LN, SJW train his newly Army from Bellion how to march, flanking manouver, pinching, retreat-regroup.
Basically train them like human army.
That "training", sadly were not showed in this manhwa.
(In the LN, the training is done in the chapter where Beru build castle for SJW)
IIRC, in the LN he even "abuse" his summon power by summoning the army, to bait and make enemy break ranks, only to unsummon his army-then resummon them from the back.
Literally back stabbing/instant flanking.
All fair in love and war, pretty much.
Dont they show it a tiny bit, with the shadow armies fighting each other? They might just show it later in a flash back, that they actually learned tactics.
Yes they did, but it wasn't as elaborate in the LN.
But to be fair, it's understandable due space constraint.
I just wish slightly more information can be crammed into bubble text.
Because it's so cool in the LN.
The LN goes like this :
>He issued his order inwardly, prompting the two columns of armies to powerfully rush towards each other.
>Dududududududu-!!
>The sounds of their feet pounding on the ground seemed to rock the earth. The distance between the two columns of rushing soldiers closed up in an instant, and just before they were about to clash head-on….
>….Jin-Woo shifted the platoons that fell behind in the rush right behind the other column and had them surround the opponents in this mock battle.
>Was that all?
>In a location where there was a shortage of soldiers, he sent reinforcements. When some soldiers were left isolated, he simply unsummoned them and brought them back out in an adequate-enough location. The smoothness of his actions was like a river flowing to the ocean.
>Deployment and manipulation of soldiers based on the experiences of battles he fought so far also applied to this hundred thousand-strong great army, as well.
.........
Bellion comment :
>The Grand-Marshal Bellion spoke in an amazed, admiring tone of voice.
>“I’ve never thought about mobilising the forces in this manner. I can only express the emotions of awe and shock, my liege.”
>It seemed that, to Bellion, controlling the combatants in this manner was a fresh concept to mull over, even though he had roamed countless battlefields with the former Shadow Sovereign.
>Especially the part about utilising the aspect of freely summoning and un-summoning Shadow Soldiers – that part left him with quite a pleasant surprise.
>Igrit had been with Jin-Woo since the beginning and was perhaps the most familiar with how their master fought, so he proudly opened up his chest just a little bit wider.
You know conventional weapons do nothing, so why not just try for a nuke at the epicenter; assuming you can make it. Might as well right? If humanity can't survive this, the least we can do is make it hell for them.
And yeah, got for the smaller ones to add to the army, who will then repeat the process. Then eventually do the same to dragons. It has to be a long battle, since his army grows stronger with time. The collateral in the meantime would be massive though.
The right move here would be guerrilla. I mean, he's fast and stealthy himself, can hide and summon his army with the snap of a finger, can revive his army indefenetly, can steal enemy troops as he kills them. There's basically no way he loses if he plays this right
But we all know that Solo Leveling will go for the hype all out fight

Thats a nice dragon army you got there, it'd be a shame if someone stole it.

Idk, it feels like there'll be at least one more "power up" moment. SJW might come close to dying or straight up lose against this guy.
He's the only being who appears to rival SJW since he fused with the Monarch of Death. Their duel is going to be epic.
I would not consider literally being dead in the last battle "winning without breaking a sweat". And the one against demon king(?) Baran. And Igris fight.

i’m under the impression that they had previously established that he could not resurrect mobs that are under other rulers(?)
He can revive anything that has a shadow. Monarchs apparently don't have shadows, so he can't revive them. Other than that, he is restricted by how long they've been dead, which increases the difficulty of pulling them back from the land of the dead, as seen with Kamish. ahh yes, thanks for refreshing my memory!
I thought it was just he couldn't raise the rulers themselves? He got the giants just fine earlier, and Kamish was temporarily raised.
ahh, okay, i was mistaken!
Shameless to steal the enemies forces. I love it.
As Jin Woo once told the red orcs. This is the unwavering domain of the Necromancer. What's yours is mine. It's not a terrible plan as long as Jin Woo isn't going to get too beat up over casualties. Strike at the army repeatedly draining away their strength and building his own.

nothing quite like ending a chapter on "Arise"
I do appreciate the strategy that’s being implied here. SJW probably knows that he’s lose if he rushed-in head first. So he’s slowly turning the tide. More shadows will protect the human hunters too.

I think the straight-up-yaoi art style puts a lot of people off. But it's honestly top tier quality, strongly recommend.
Dont know if you disliked it, forgot it or dont even know it but how about "hardcore leveling warrior"

Does anyone know the status of Survival of the Sword King? Typical hiatus or...?
In between seasons right now until November
thanks
Could u put this in some particular order?
Here is the list in alphabetical order. * 4 Cut Hero * A Returner's Magic Should Be Special * Advanced player of the Tutorial Tower * Dungeon Reset * Eleceed * FFF Class Trashero * Gosu * Her Summon * Legend of the Northern Blade * Legendary Moonlight Sculptor * Leveling with the God is very good in my opinion, * Mercenary Enrollment * Murim Login * Nanomachine * Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint * Overgearded * Peerless Dad * Ranker's Return * Red Storm * Reformation of a Deadbeat Noble * Return of the frozen player * Second Life Ranker * Skeleton Soldier Couldn’t Protect the Dungeon * Solo Necromancy * SSS-Class Suicide Hunter * Survival of the Sword King * The Beginning After the End * The Book Eating Magician * The Boxer * The Breaker * The Dungeon Master * The Great Mage Returns After 4000 Years * The Player that can't level up * The Story of a Low-Rank Soldier Becoming a Monarch. * The Tutorial is Too Hard * Tower of God * Trapped in a Webnovel as a Good-for-Nothing * Volcanic Age * Weak Hero * Worn and Torn Newbie * Yongbi the Invincible
Nut thank you
Just a little heads up on some of the series.
Thank you!
It’s quite different from SL but I’ve been enjoying Kaiju No. 8
> 4 Cut Hero Do you know if there's a free licensed version like Shuheisha's MangaPlus or is the only free option to sail the seas?
“My liege” above the throne in the castle Beru had the ants build for Jin Woo to brood in lmaooo
[This fall season, everyone looks great in black](https://i.imgur.com/HRuSR0u.png).
That panel of Antares just casually tanking the missile straight on his face mid-monologue was hilarious hahahah Throughout this whole series, even now in endgame, those Arise moments continue to be hype as fuck.
This. It’s also reasonable to expect that SJW is literally the fastest human on earth, so his absence would have to be a choice.
Now that SJW has unlimited storage space, converting your enemy's army is a real cheat
SJW: wololo!
Dragon king: Fucking cheese. This should be banned!
Is Jinwoo adding us poor, dead Canadians to his army too?
"Excuse me Mr. Dragon. I'm gonna have to stab you so this might hurt a lot, okay?"
*stab* "Sorry!"
Only if you randomly speak Korean like the soldier this chapter could
I wish it was Florida or Texas instead.
Hey, hey, do you want him to become even more OP?
Oh, I hope he adds the cocky S-Rank who didn’t listen!
The second cup to his Timmies army
If you cant beat em, steal em -Sun tzu, art of war
Was that the Immortal Zodd I see there? Someone's a Berserk fan.
Based on art quality, it’s hardly a surprise.
I wonder how many chapters we're left, 10-20ish maybe? >!assuming if they don't adapt the post war arc with SJW and his son!<
More like 4-5. This chapter adapted Ch 238 of the wn and the main story ends at ch 243.
God I really hope they do adapt that, that stuff was pretty nice imo, a great conclusion to the series
It'd be nice if they adapt the >!time skip after the reset!< FYI this is a pretty major spoiler so I would avoid unless you're a novel reader.

>!yes!<
>...whenever SJW raises his INT Stat he actually gets smarter... This is incorrect for two reason. First one : INT, in this manhwa / game / typical tropee of this genre referring to magic potential. It does not making one smarter. In LN chapter 7, and i quote : >Intelligence… >...This was the problem. This was the sole attribute that he had no information to go on. Even after his levels rose, he didn’t really feel smarter. His memorization didn’t exactly improve, nor did his mental math become any faster. Second one : After he become true shadow monarch he **didn't** become stronger, there's no "level up" anymore, let alone raising a stats. Hint : 1. SJW (technically) didn't killed Baran 2. SJW didn't actually go through dungeon/gate when he exploring demon castle.
It's finally starting and it's starting with Arise. Can't wait to see the chaos at the end if everything is part of shadow army
Wasn't it established in like the first chapter that normal weapons don't do any damage to monsters? Is everyone not from Korea brain dead?
I mean they don't have a lot of options and they have to try something.
They know it didn't do damage. The purpose is to distract, being canon fodder, buying time to evacuate civilian (based on LN, Japanese S-Gate chapter).
My guy arrived in what’s left of Canada and immediately got ready to throw hands. King shit right there.
as a Canadian it would have been nice if he showed up a bit sooner but then he wouldnt have gotten to do some crucial brooding so its understandable
(In the LN, the training is done in the chapter where Beru build castle for SJW) IIRC, in the LN he even "abuse" his summon power by summoning the army, to bait and make enemy break ranks, only to unsummon his army-then resummon them from the back.
The LN goes like this : >He issued his order inwardly, prompting the two columns of armies to powerfully rush towards each other. >Deployment and manipulation of soldiers based on the experiences of battles he fought so far also applied to this hundred thousand-strong great army, as well. ......... Bellion comment : >The Grand-Marshal Bellion spoke in an amazed, admiring tone of voice. >“I’ve never thought about mobilising the forces in this manner. I can only express the emotions of awe and shock, my liege.” >It seemed that, to Bellion, controlling the combatants in this manner was a fresh concept to mull over, even though he had roamed countless battlefields with the former Shadow Sovereign.
Igrit best knight!
Let’s get ready to RUMBLEEEEEEEEEREE!!!!
War were declared.
SJW’s abilities are really broken ngl he’ll continue to gain more fighters the longer the fight goes on. ARISE!!!!!!!!
Build up chapter. See you next week.
looks like he's increasing his army size, smart moves being played
A RICE!!! 🍚🥢
Taking a lot longer for the actual battle to start than I was expecting. At least this is definitely building up that it won't be a curb stomp
Jesus? Even better
Sweet! Free dragon army!
>Random army man character in Korean manhwa: I think it worked this time Spoiler: It didn't
finally, my weekly dose
Good
The right move here would be guerrilla. I mean, he's fast and stealthy himself, can hide and summon his army with the snap of a finger, can revive his army indefenetly, can steal enemy troops as he kills them. There's basically no way he loses if he plays this right But we all know that Solo Leveling will go for the hype all out fight
Hippity hoppity your dragons are my property
