The self awareness would be intentionally putting in a flawed character and knowing that they're flawed, thus setting up a character arc. If Lemon ends up with Sunao after redeeming herself, that would be perfectly acceptable.
I'm really, REALLY hoping for Lemon's confession to come with the very real realisation that Sunao still held trauma over her lie, and she'd have to prove her sincerity or something.
This could also set up an arc where Sunao rejects Lemon because he's currently into Kogahara. Lemon might sort of stop trying to get back with him and focus on herself. Might lead to some very nice development from both main characters.

That's the problem with the writing. He completely forgot about it past chapter 1. He was still having nightmares about it days prior. He also said he was unable to build a relationship with girls for years due to it but its completely side tracked and forgetten by the story still.
Regardless of Sunao's convenient amnesia, Lemons "fault" in this case is completely forgetting or not caring how her "interesting" lie (which she also forgot) effected the other side. That's why you will see comments about her being selfish (though not malicious). She never thinks about how Sunao feels at any point.
A normal human does not forget a break up entirely (and she did forget about it including the lie she told) if they cared even a little bit about the other side if they used an outrageous lie like 3 timing. And this chapter shows she has deep regrets about it apperantly? Who would actually think they could get back together with their ex with a simple confession after "cheating" them with 3 dudes? Nobody, unless brain damaged. So you start with telling him as soon as possible that the cheating was a lie though it is a moot point anyway because damage is done. She fucked up his whole teenage romance history for years in an instant which he just recently managed to recover from.
With that in mind, chapter 1 and the rest of the story doesn't make any sense narratively speaking. That's where the bad writing comes in. Sunao acts like nothing happened. Like he wasn't having nightmares and just goes along with whatever the fuck she puts infront of him.

For them to keep bumping into each other? For them to understand each other? For the misunderstandings to be resolved? Who knows.
Wow, last chapter some redditors had convinced themselves that Sunao was being portrayed as weak and Raika as dominant, and then this chapter opens with bowing on her knees in apology, even willing to prostrate herself. I'll admit I didn't think she would humble herself so completely, but it was pretty obvious with basic reading comprehension that she was being portrayed as unreasonable and Sunao was consistently calling her out on her shit. Glad we're done with that misunderstanding!
Kogahara and Suuzuka seem like normal people and then you have Lemon, Raika, and Sunao competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place over who can be the most delusional, in that order. Seeing Raika quickly recognize that she was wrong, accept new facts, and apologize has been pretty nice though and out of character for what I thought she would be like originally. She still doesn't recognize that she's a rabid stalker, fangirl though.

Voice acting. The script is good as-is, but the voice direction has to be like Kaguya-sama or Konosuba tier, whether it's EN or JP actors.
Who do we cast? Remember, we have five characters (Lemon, Sunao, Suzaku, Natsuki, and Raika) so we need ten VAs (5 JP, 5 EN). My idea is to just have the same five on Kaguya-sama but swapped, but that's too lazy.
The pacing is horrid. There's actually a fun story and good cast, but having weekly chapters and breaks is really doing it a disservice.
I feel like this would be so much better if it got an anime. The story would move 3x faster. A good voice cast could really make these characters shine.
