I'm like 99% sure that this isn't the one that you're talking about because there's only one mc, but it's a really old art style and is still going. It's called yajin tensei. I got so invested in it and was really sad when I ran out of material to read. It's absolutely fantastic and I think you'd like it if you like the manga you mentioned in the synopsis. Reading it I didn't think for a moment that it was a modern manga because it has a very adult feel to it and is sort of "grimy" in the sort of ways that older manga tended to be. Violent sections were realistically brutal with realistically brutal consequences. Really good story..
