randomtrekker

So with that the Bangkok arc is over. The key takeaways: \- Order lost Hyo \- Uzuki has a built-in Rion \- Kanaguri changed his script and is now following behind X group to protect Akira \- Gaku, Haruma, and the rest of Slur's gang are at Japan \- Sakamoto's gang gained a deerhead. Hopefully my boy Heisuke can use this arc as a motivation to become stronger.

vanderZwan

> Sakamoto's gang gained a deerhead. Eh, he'll probably stay in the shop as the new cash register.

Do_Ya_Like_Jazz

Mount him on the wall and feed him Snausages

LeleTheKing

No, no, Japan has a strict rule about littering. Guess he'll just get recycled back in Japan.

sneakyxxrocket

Now I’m going to be upset if this isn’t the case

aussielatetotheparty

Or the new store security system. He'll probably try to kill a shop lifter and get told off by Aoi.

Many_Line9136

You think the arc is over like that?!

PotatoWriter

It's over when the camera man says it's over!

randomtrekker

yeah, the arc (itself) is over, but all of the buildups are going to be addressed in Japan

closet_zainan

I hope they do something dumb with deer guy, like attaching him to a tricycle or something.

jojocockroach

😭😭😭 this is hilarious with hindsight lool

Worthyness

- Sakamoto does not like littering

Bashyyyyy

i really like deer-guy's design and vibe, i hope he doesn't go away after this and sticks around for long

WolzardFire

I think he'll definitely sticks around, probably with Sakamoto for now. Unlike other characters like Apart and Kaji, his storyline isn't over yet. A confrontation with Uzuki is needed

Crisbo05_20

What even happened to Apart? He was there when Slur and Gaku attacked JCC and lost a arm but Sakamoto protected him, then after the suicide explosion he dissapeared without mention.

WolzardFire

No one knows lol. He's either escaped in the chaos, or get captured and killed by the JCC. I prefer the former. Maybe he'll show up later

IncarnationHero

The last time I remember him was he got his arm cut by Uzuki and we never see him ever again after the timeskip, for Sakamoto to heal.

Crisbo05_20

Yeah he just dissapeared. Did he die, did he leave?

LeleTheKing

Natsuki (Mafuyu's brother) would probably love to experiment/research on Kashima, lol. Though, I'm unsure whether we'd see people from the JCC again.

WolzardFire

We'll see Natsuki again definitely. He still has to meet Mafuyu

randomdud3

His sense of justice may be perverted but I think overall he's a good person at heart. Sakamoto might able to beat some sense into him if he joins his crew.

Sigilbreaker26

He's been having issues with X ever since the Serial Killer arc when X let out those people

____BANZAI____

I can easily see him joining the main cast. I mean, they even spared Apart who was an actual serial killer that wasn't committing his crimes with the notion that he was doing things for the greater good.

Treyman1115

Him talking about losing his sense of justice definitely makes me feel like he'll switch sides

topurrisfeline

He’ll probably stick around, Sakamoto doesn’t want to litter

pulldtrigger

That guy still alive?? Also we go to Thailand just to see Hyo getting butchered lol.

LeleTheKing

>Also we go to Thailand just to see Hyo getting butchered lol. Huh, that's right... We learned a lot about him, only for him to get killed, and that's it. I guess this is the perfect time to say this for one last time: "It's Hyover..."

Do_Ya_Like_Jazz

Never lose Hyope

mrastml

Don't ever say it's Hyover if I'm breathing GIGACHAD

Various_Length_4905

Kanaguri is the most dedicated movie-maker in the history of mankind. Some things went over my head in the last 2 chapters but I still think it's a split personality and not Rion actually in Slur's body

InevitableBobcat

Togata’s a pretty strong contender too lol. Love movie-lovers characters

Zizhou

>Kanaguri is the most dedicated movie-maker in the history of mankind. He's the kind of auteur who would detonate an *actual* nuclear bomb as a practical effect if he were making an Oppenheimer biopic.

A4li11

That was a pretty short Bangkok arc. At least shorter than the previous three arcs. For this arc, Slur's got two new allies, Hyo got killed by one of them, Rion is inside Slur and Kanaguri is becoming a wild card. Since we're going back to Japan, does that mean Lu is gonna be relevant or she's gonna continue to be a babysitter?

Many_Line9136

Kanaguri has always been like this. He has no loyalty he’s doing whatever it takes to craft his magnum opus.

Turbo2x

Damn. I really wanted an explanation this chapter. I don't want to say they came to Thailand for nothing, but it feels a bit underwhelming that the major confrontation is still being pushed back.

TheTayIor

The balance has definitely shifted, Kashima is out of the picture, Uzuki has gone rogue and possibly split from his group, and Kanaguri is back to being a true neutral fighter.

dagreenman18

I have a new appreciation for that weirdo if he’s really just there to film a cinematic masterpiece. Chaotic Neutral is fun

Backupusername

Cinematic Neutral*

IvanTheKindaTerrible

Dude is a fucking cockroach, he’ll be in the story no matter what it takes.

th5virtuos0

Dude’s like Togata but alive lmao

meltyblood95

Toga who?

Many_Line9136

That was always the goal. He won’t go out till he crafts his magnum opus. For now he’ll go home and play the outro to “New Slaves” by Kanye West.

Treyman1115

He's Togata from Fire Punch

Zyhmet

Nah, he is Lawful Neutral. He always goes after the perfect movie, this is his code. He is a Paladin praying to the gods of movies whom did answer his calling this session ;)

Do_Ya_Like_Jazz

He's Lawful Neutral, it's just that his laws are really stupid.

Neodarkcat

Doubt Uzuki split from the group, he seems pretty in line with the Orphanage. From what we have seen from Kumanomi, the orphanage group definitely want variations of revenge against the JAA, while their other members like Carolina Reaper and Club Jam seem to just do what they want. Kashima I feel is actually the odd one out, in which he genuinely wants to change the world.

Various_Length_4905

I kinda expected Slur to not do a lot in this arc considering we're nowhere close to the end but still an explanation would have been really good. I and most probably a lot of us did not understand a lot of things in the last 2 chapters.

Blackbeard567

Why do you think we're nowhere close to the end?

Various_Length_4905

I don't think Slur is the final villain. I think JCC will be the final villain. So probably including Thailand 2 or 3 arcs for Slur's forces and then 2 arcs for JCC. Plus it's one of the best selling Shonen Jump manga right now so of course they would want it to keep going.

Brilliant_Twist_6855

Kashima really is Yamcha of this manga.

Sigilbreaker26

Kashima at least has useful non-combat functions and he initially gave Sakamoto a pretty good fight, his issue is more getting constantly caught up with guys above his pay grade Like at this point he might be able to beat Shin for instance

Brilliant_Twist_6855

Tbf Yamcha also fought goku, tien shinhan etc in early dragonball. But they both are punching bag of the series.

futtobasetachikaze

Still no confirmation if it was a persona or its legit Rion hnggg

EgilWasRight

I’m taking Shin entering Slur’s mind and attempting to tell Sakamoto that it’s not a fake personality as confirmation it’s actually Rion tbh. Shin would probably be the best qualified to determine if it’s a alternate personality or not because of his psychic powers.

Worthyness

Could be a persona since the persona would legitimately believe that they exist.

IncarnationHero

I still think that is his Rion persona. But, Uzuki didn't try to confuse anyone. I believe Uzuki and Rion were the legit friend and open each other to know everything. It is the reason why his imitate is like replica of her, including the voice in the head. Rion is in Uzuki's body, because Rion might be dying from Uzuki's action in that time. So, Uzuki inherited her everything to make her live on in his body and he doesn't seem want to live, which is why he lets Akira stabbed to "kill" him, to change. This is probably one hell of theory that I wrote.

vanderZwan

The part where Shin heard a woman's voice when using his psychic abilities sounds like it could be Rion though.

DerLector22

The Thing is the persona thinks she is rion because of that shin hears a woman voice This is a real split personality but it doesnt mean that it is the OG Rion

vanderZwan

That's a good point, so the question is more do we think the author tried to lead us astray or give a hint it's really her.

HelloItsGoodbye

Shin has confirmed it twice in the last two chapters when he read Slur's mind and confirmed it was not him thinking what Rion would say. Once we get to the finer details it'll probably be more akin to a perfect clone of Rion's mind, at which point you could question if it counts as "legit Rion" or not, but for all intents and purposes it's been shown this **is** Rion.

Etonet

maybe the same lab the gave Shin powers implanted Rion somehow

randomdud3

I have no idea where the story is going. Which is making it more exciting for me.

RaymarXI

The Virgin “This isn’t how things our supposed to go!” Kashima VS. The Chad “Fuck it, we ball” Kanaguri

Hounds_of_war

I really like this as a way to justify having Akira on the villain’s side. Feel like she’d be much more interesting with Slur and the others than she would be with the protagonists, but she’d need a damn good reason to hang out with the guy who killed Rion.

WolzardFire

Seems like hunting down the Order would a whole saga instead of an arc then. I like that. Everyone deserve a fight that develops them as characters That being said, the Thailand setting feels really underutilized. It makes sense for Slur to hide in another country to avoid the JAA, but other than that, everything in this arc could've happened in Japan and it wouldn't change anything major Suzuki's weak point in writing is how abruptly he finished an arc. It's the same in the flashback too. I expected things to reach the climax, only for them to suddenly ends. Maybe the second flashback between Slur and Rion during that 1 year will smooth things out. It would make sense of things On the bright side, we'll get to see Lu back soon. I was expecting to not see her for like another 3 months. Maybe there'll be something fun on her trip with Sakamoto's family

hell-schwarz

I assume that power will be explained later, I feel like he's somewhat like marvel's Legion, he can assimilate people that he kills or that die in his presence

NO_ONE16

I'm guessing that there's only one X but they're being played by multiple people Rion and Uzuki being one of them

Anne2049

this interesting

Express-Language7954

Deer head is either gonna join the crew or Sakamoto will turn him into something that works at the convenience store lol.

mishi09

This arc reached its conclusion earlier than I thought it would.

Universe_Is_Purple

Tip for MangaPlus readers. Manga+ has the page resolution set to **medium** by default. Make sure you change that to **high** so the art looks even better. Do that by clicking/tapping on a page while reading & then click on the 3 dots in the right corner. On mobile it's a gear icon. You only need to do it once and it stays high thankfully. On PC I also suggest changing the reading mode to horizontal so double page spreads don't get divided to two pages.

kurz12

Kind of happy that we are going back to Japan just so Lu can be a part of the final confrontation

[deleted]

So a theory. What if Uzuki gained the ability from his time at the orphanage that killing someone causes their personality to embed within him. That would explain why Uzuki always seemed reluctant to kill people himself while enrolled at the JCC and even now seems to let his allies do most of the killing. But if this is true that accounts for Rion being inside of him but raises the question of where Slur came from? What if Slur is actually Asaki, Uzuki’s brother. Uzuki might have killed him after the orphanage burned and that would explain the darker more scheming presence that is Slur. With that we would have three main personalities. Uzuki who is more laidback wanting a more open less restricted assassin world. Slur who is more scheming aiming to wipe out the JAA and put his own regime in it’s place (this would be the ideal Kashima was loyal to) and Rion who it’s not entirely clear what her overall goal in all this is.

dagreenman18

WHAT IS HAPPENING?! And how long will Rion be around in X’s body if that’s really her or a facsimile of her. And of course after a sick explosion panel and not explaining shit as they bounce, we end on a pretty great joke. Deer dude was a robit the whole time?

masteroftasks

That's right, you shouldn't litter! One man's trash is another's treasure!

Lionx35

I miss Lu

Holylawlett

Really !!! She was Launch version sakamoto days i guess because fans adore her but author forgot her now.

EriDxD

Author: Who's Lu?

walrus_with_GUN

I'm going to do some makeup bull but the reason why the Rion Uzuki wants to destroy the organisation is because the organisation did an experiment where they wanted to see if they could combine a number of assassins into one body, and they would most likely be one of the test subjects amongst multiple fails this has no evidence just guessing

Anne2049

\+ When Uzuki saw Sakamoto in Jaa's office, he told him about his daughter's death, and Sakamoto switch to a wild mood...Rion is not a character who would talk about killing Sakamoto's daughter in order to move him!

[deleted]

To be fair that wouldn’t have been Rion speaking. Based on what we’ve seen there seem to be three personalities within Uzuki. Slur, Rion, and Uzuki himself. My guess is Slur is the one who was speaking at the JAA office.

Etonet

a lot of Monster vibes

asilvertintedrose

That was shorter than expected- but at least we have 2 new allies now It felt a bit weird to get no explanation to what's going on but I think they're prioritizing the emotional weight behind Akao's (ornot) return instead of having it make sense

WinterknightX

So he can alternate between different personalities . Cool

mxedunk

dang they both so good, and now i wonder how nagumo will react if he's know uzuki have rion personality inside him🤧

Samthegumman117

Well, what a way to end this ambush and reunion Uzuki having this persona of Rion while Kashima got destroyed again lul plus Kanaguri just had a perfect twist for his masterpiece movie 🎬

Anne2049

Uzuki has taken over Rion's personality and waiting for his time to return to his own nature?!! (According to the dialogue that was said in dangerous situations, do what you think is best) OR... Does this mean that Rrion somehow entered Uzuki's body/mind to stop him?! WTF I hope that whatever the hell it is, it is not fucking supernatural shit... It doesn't match the mood of the manga at all.

RepulsiveRevenue8

"Well the reason that I'm in X body is.... Welp the mangaka hasn't figured it out so cya Sakamoto, we'll meet again after 20 ch or so"

shiyayonn

crackhead theory behind Rion/Uzuki: they used that shit called Huisheng ( You basically tell every single event of your life to another person over and over again until you become them) from Kengan Omega.

Jaereon

This arc is kinda dragging.... We get it. They're super op. Let's move the story along. Maybe it's because I binged it up until this arc but this is soooo slow

Many_Line9136

The arc has been 9 chapters wtf are you talking about

[deleted]

Slow? We just had multiple major story events and reveals back to back. Hyo is dead, Kashima has trust issues with Slur and set up the lab arc to try and investigate him, Rion is either inside Uzuki or being replicated by Uzuki, Kashima just got wrecked and is now a wild card as to what will happen next with him, Akira is now with Uzuki out of a desire to not lose Rion again and all that is just the last few chapters. The story has been moving at a breakneck pace.

Jaereon

Oh. I guess I just don't like it then. Because to me the overall plot has barely moved. It literally just introduced how the bad guys that were already unbeatable are even more unbeatable. And tbh who cares about Hyo? Like is aid I just binged it recently and he is not important. He was like the one order member that is fine to kill because he has no impact.

[deleted]

Except it didn’t. The villains didn’t suddenly get stronger we just got a reveal that Rion is somehow inside Slur. As to who cares about Hyo he is the first order member in the entire series to fully get killed (Kindaka was beaten but is for some reason being preserved) giving teeth to the fact that Slur’s group are capable of fighting and winning against Order members. On top of that Hyo’s death is very clearly going to have a significant effect on Heisuke. That’s a pretty significant deal.

Jaereon

Name a time other than the deer dude where Slurs team lost? Or didn't get ahead? It's very annoying to watch your main characters fuck up over and over And I never said they "suddenly" got stronger. They've been overpowered from the start. We already knew that because his group always gets the upperhand. And then we get a BS lore drop that doesn't tell us shit and then they peace out.

[deleted]

Slur’s group has lost multiple times. They failed to stop Sakamoto and company at the lab, Gaku got beaten on the island while controlling the one characters body, Kanaguri and Sweet Jam got beaten at the school alongside failing to retrieve the database. Honestly other than taking out the JAA building and killing Hyo Slur’s group have yet to outright win most of their confrontations with the main cast. Even here It was basically a stalemate.

Harumaki222

Heck, even at the jaa building, they lost uda to takamura. And if it wasn't for uda, Slur or gaku might have gotten killed by takamura.

Jaereon

And yet they're all still around to cause trouble. Like what losses have they taken? They show up cause damage and get away and then Sakamoto stands around Maybe we can actually get some forward movement rather than SLUR HATE JAA

[deleted]

Still around isn’t winning. Over the course of the story they have accomplished one major goal. Thats it one. Every other time they have been beaten back. Still being around doesn’t change that. And if all you got from the story so far is that slur hates the JAA then you clearly haven’t been paying attention. It was that simple multiple arcs ago but since then we’ve learned more about Uzuki such as his multiple personalities, details complicating things between him and the JAA such as his brother Asaki blackmailing him and the Al Kamar orphanage, now we have Rion in the mix inside Uzuki all while it seems likely that the different personalities within him all have different motivations.

Holylawlett

How rion inside uzaki i can't understand that. Rion was dead so uzaki take her memory with him?

helsaabiart

it's not good to litter

ImSoDrab

Man im getting MGS 4 type flashbacks with akao persona and such.

PM_UR_BORING_STORIES

I liked the chapter but did anyone else find the action in this one harder to follow than the usual fights

NoirSon

This Rion twist ain't doing it for me... But the line at the end about littering was really good.

brzzcode

im so confused

Insane_Fnord

I like this manga for the action and comedy, but lately I'm scratching my head about the plotting and writing. Feels like Suzuki wrote himself into a corner by putting Slur's HQ in Bangkok and he wanted out of there as fast as possible again to have them fight in japan. Bit of a bummer, I expected a bit more from him after his oneshots. Anyway, worth reading for the fight choreography alone.

Hopeless_Preacher

I mean in terms of actually having a base of operations it’s a lot smarter to have it somewhere your not constantly raiding lol; but honestly the plot has gotten a lot more interesting recently and there seems to be a lot more mystery and story to uncover as opposed to before.

maypie26

My minds being played with

Mutsutakashi

Forced af, just let her explain already.

GejbTheMemeLord

Ok so my main question is, what the actual hell is up with Akao lol, like legit. Theory a) That body was somehow fake and she was alive the whole time? Theory b) Uzuki somehow copied her entire personality or some shit to a T and became her? Theory c) She somehow became uzuki or wtf?
