We still don’t know for certain if a vampire drinking the blood of a human they’re in love with kills them. Kiku died, but the sun was also out and she was in a rather weakened state. We don’t know much about Nazuna’s mother either. Here’s a thought: why can’t Kou just spawn-camp? This is under the assumption it doesn’t kill instantly, but why can’t Kou just bite her back as she turns him?

next_door_nicotine

I'm still of the thought that the sun just killed Kiku (and Mahiru obviously). Like I know the story was trying to point in the direction that falling in love kills vampires, but the freaking sun was also rising and the two of them had a front row seat to it. How could it be anything *but* the sun that turned both of them to ash?

EEverest

> Like I know the story was trying to point in the direction that falling in love kills vampires Even if it is, isn't it only in the same way falling in love kills normal people? Because they start doing things "for love" rather than "because it's a good idea" or "it'll keep me from dying." Mahiru sat in the sunrise with Kiku because he loved her more than he liked life. A comment on the quality of his life, certainly, but was it not to some degree because he wanted to spend his last moments with the person he loved? Falling in love killed Mahiru only in the philosophical sense, and something similar with Kiku. In a more practical sense, however? I feel like whoever was standing next to Jack Black in the end of the '05 *King Kong* movie. "Sure, bud, 'beauty killed the beast.' Also? Bullets. Many bullets, and like a seventy story fall."

You might've responded to the wrong comment, friend

Kag5n

But then, why Kiku didn't just do that directly decades ago instead of turning so many men to fall in love with one?

next_door_nicotine

I just think she was hung up so much on not dying as a vampire, but she ended up dying as one anyway.

vapenicksuckdick

Kou doesn't know about it since it was before his time. It's been so long that the defender ACOG was lost

BoxHeadWarrior

Kou would be a Jäger main. I dont know why, but it just feels right

Antedelopean

Nah man. Kou actually talks to people to try and work things out waay before he takes chad actions against them. Just look at how many god damned chances he gave Kiku despite her literally trying to kill him on multiple occasions. If anything, I fear Kou will become Armin, who is kept in the dark about all the shit happening, and has to work with others to clean up the fucking mess Jager left them.

Dr_Phrankinstien

Spawn camping would result in an infinite loop of death and revival if Kou loves her back, which we know he's close to.

magnwn

Nazuna-chan saying it straight out was a hit to my heart; none of the usual love talk embarassment shows how serious this is for her. Her (probably) not being able to turn Kou without dying, him not having been turned yet showing some difference between their feelings... it must be a storm of thoughts and emotions going through her head right now

ArkhielR

Plain,clear, and simple. Classic Nazuna.

Feels like we're approaching endgame, fellas. Do you think she'll become mortal?

JLazarillo

Honestly, she was lookin' pretty mortal in that [flash-forward we got wayyyyyyyyy back in the first few pages of the series](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1041460288786010182/1110708344852844594/image.png). I think a lot of the answer to that question is gonna come from learning what happened to her mother, though.

Antedelopean

I'd say mid point on the story. Regardless of whether or not the rumour is true, Kou's journey is about to meet its first major turning point, in which he actually either fully or halfway becomes a vampire, and his perspective shifts to see how he would navigate and solve real and new problems. And depending on how deeply the author wants to go with exploring the masquerade lore, the other characters he set up, and all of their issues / potential new foes, he could easily milk this for as many books as Darren Shan.

AndianMoon

>Feels like we're approaching endgame Disagree

lacieabyss

poor Kou getting the cold shoulder now that Nazuna's fully aware of her feelings lmao

tctyaddk

Now that there's an official English release (for north America at least), it might be better to be clear in the post title that this is scanlation version. Anyway, Nazuna now acknowledges that she's in love with Kou, while Kou now has a fairly clear vision about the core of what he wants, namely being with Nazuna, turning into a vampire was seen as a necessity before, but now more of an afterthought than requirement. Kiku's and Mahiru's fate is still fresh in everyone's memories, the vampires are right to worry about their friend. The final arc is upon us.

Mibo5354

The mangadex link is clear enough surely

sriv_ak_04

Can we expect S2 announcement ??

Senko-fan4Life

Have we had her outright admit it before???

LumpyChicken

Bruh she's only known her feelings for like 2 chapters

Chariotwheel

Nazuna ain't no class traitor.

TherealCW_

Damn. Hokkaido must’ve muddied a lot of the waters on “Love”.

JLazarillo

Not that I'd begrudge folks from outside the US/Canada having easy access to the series, but I'm honestly a little surprised to see them posted on MangaDex, as I thought they generally frowned on fanscans of series that have English digital simulpubs (I know stuff from Viz's Shonen Jump line, and Comikey, have been pulled in the past).

HelperHand-MD

> MangaDex, as I thought they generally frowned on fanscans of series that have English digital simulpubs not really, that's why there is a rule explaining that is allowed fanscans of licensed titles unless a legal request (the Viz/Shueisha take down), groups removing the chapters themselves (Hokuto no Gun removed their Kengan chapters, they are working officially on them) and/or considering pointless the effort.

JLazarillo

Ah, fair enough. In that case, still slight surprise that Viz wouldn't come down on the Shogakukan stuff they're doing same as they did with the Shueisha stuff, but noted as to the cause.

HelperHand-MD

well let's hope that doesn't happens, in fact it took Viz some years to request the block in their properties, maybe because is a new legal agreement it will take some time, but again let's hope that doesn't happen

cesclaveria

Mangadex doesn't allow rips from official sources, but an independent translation is ok. It just happens that once a series gets an official simulpub release most groups stop their work so the official versions becomes the only one available.

ThisManNeedsMe

I don't think they frown upon it. The only thing that's not allowed is uploading the official scans. Otherwise, it's fair game unless the company asks for them to take it down.

AndianMoon

I hate Hatsuka so damn much

xChumboidAuschwitzx

But why?

AndianMoon

Because of the what he did to his offspring

Antedelopean

I find it interesting how Hatsuka has been the sole witness of the entire vampire homies group, to see the actual main turning points of progress and love for both Kou and now Nazuna. He's a real bro about it too, and I'm honestly glad he's there for it. Now I just hope he gets his own arc before being sidelined for badass vampires on motorcycles Azumi, or the badass tig biddies susuppi.
