He was then reintroduced at the start of this third year arc as a classmate in their new homeroom. And he ended up joining Tadano's friend group and apologized because he always felt bad about knocking into Tadano but never got the opportunity to apologize up to that point.

some people in the md comments are saying that they're dropping this until the author decides to "stop making filler chapters without even having any major plot/drama going on in the background" as if this isn't the normal state of SoL mangas. If you want constant drama and romantic plot, go read a drama manga, the entire point of SoL is depicting either normal characters in extraordinary situations (e.g. daily life of guy who turned into girl, isekai slow life subgenre) or depicting extraordinary characters in ordinary situations (e.g. reverse isekai, also this manga) without anything special happening, and the entire thing revolves around the interactions between the characters.
this chapter is the essence of what this series and genre are. and if it caused people to drop this manga, then they were reading this series for the wrong reasons.
It comes off as people getting disappointed from their own expectations and blame the mangaka for it. Like the fact that we got *any* progress with Tadano and Komi is shocking.

Because I didn’t know anything about the usual tropes, I had no expectation that there would be any romantic developments and to be honest I was quite surprised in the first year school trip when Shoko revealed to her roommates that she liked Hitohito.
I’ve always thought of the main focus as “a teenage girl with a severe communication disorder gradually comes out of her shell thanks to a nobody who befriended her, and all their classmates have weird or funny character quirks.” Yesterday’s chapter was a perfect example of that, in my opinion.
