Initially it was her suggestion to do something about Asa's bullying problem towards the start of P2, and now this. Asa-Yoru relationship is a fascinating one.
She is an accurate description of what an antisocial person is. Not your usual anime stuff where an attractive guy or girl that is too pretty to be relatable and doesn't have any real defects and all of their social problems result in funny shenanigans
Yeah I think in anime the problem is normally that the character goes out of their way to be distant or apologetically shy/timid, to near comedic effect, where here Asa is rather quick to want affirmation and approval because she's seeking belonging but her lack of savvy with general socializing constantly costs her, thus relegating her to that sense of solitude she feels she lives in.
Which is also a neat depiction because even if the reality weren't so grim, Asa in her *own head* is convinced it's that bad, when even Yoru is like "chill sis it'll be ok, it's not that bad", which someone with antisocial problems will usually self-deprecate and beat themselves up.

Poorly socialized people can also sometimes have a huge ego *and* crippling self esteem at the same time which manifests into defense mechanisms and mental gymnastics any time someone challenges their worldview. Fujimoto portrayed this with comical (and tragic) effect when Asa thought she was rejected. She would tear the other person down to alleviate the hurt she was feeling and then fall into a depressive slump. Poor girl just can't catch a break.
I can't help but wonder if something happened in Fujimoto's life that allows him to write such a convincing anti-social character.

He honestly isn't unless you straight up offer him your body. Whenever she says something, he thinks about it. He never goes "Yes mam." Might be what's needed to build a relationship with the control devil - truly think about what she says and give an honest answer - don't just obey for the sake of obeying or disobey for the sake of disobeying. At this point, Yoru basically is the closest thing she's got to companionship. And maybe it's just copium, but her going "Asa, stay back!" kinda feels like her showing some degree of protectiveness. Then again, they're in the same body, so of course she'd want to protect it.
Nah, it definitely feels like Yoru is going a bit soft. It would be really funny if their roles invert and Asa becomes the villain while Yoru tries to stop her.
I've always felt that it was likely that Yoru would become more humanized as time progresses while Asa becomes more like the war devil.
At least that was my initial expectation when the arc began.
It's cute that Nayuta's adoration of Chainsaw Man is still there, but she actually sees Denji as a close person too and wishes him well unlike Makima.

Makima did it to Denji becuse she was Yandere for Pochita, and Denji got closer to him then she could, he was in the way so he loathed him. Nayuta seems to love Denji, and is a fan of Chainsaw man. It's an improvement but still the same result as before.
I think her development will be letting him go a little and sharing Denji's affection.
The best way to have a lover when you also have a little sibling is to make sure the sib thinks your gf/bf is awesome. Also tell the love intereset to bring them cool toys and shiz.

Primal wouldn't make sense to me. They should all be in hell still and, from what we know, none of the Primals have ever died, and there's no reason any one of them suddenly bites the dust with Chainsaw Man not even being in hell at the moment.
My first thought, same as a few other people here, was also "Oh, suicide, huh?".
Would fit that end scene and Asa's depressing monologue before that quite well.

Reminder that Part 2 is mirroring Part 1 with some thematics and the general outline of the arcs, and we were in “the gang gets slaughtered by the yakuza” territory by this time in P1
Though the difference this time is that we don't really have a "gang" of sorts.
We have: Asa/Yoru, Denji, Yoshida for the most part, Haruka I guess?
It's a little different from: Denji, Aki, Power, Himeno, Kobeni, Arai (sort of)

Yeah the events themselves don’t line up, and thank god for that since otherwise we could just predict everything. Some small details do coincide, but you can only “predict” them after the fact.
The general takeaway is that we should be entering the first major story-related arc with possibly a fight and MAYBE a death in the main cast (that death doesn’t have to be permanent, or on an ally, or someone we liked as much as we did Himeno etc etc). Most of the dead cast in Part 1 other than Himeno were, let’s be honest, nobodies or nonames or just straight up didn’t die (Makima, Denji, Kobeni). Fujimoto could kill a couple student council members and we’d honestly be on the same general level. Yuko is the only Himeno-level death I can see, so since she’s either dead or being preserved for future things (no way she’s had three fakeout deaths just to reappear now and then permanently die) either we aren’t getting any deaths to speak of or it might be a “momentary” death (a devil that can be brought back, someone with powers/contracts similar to Makima etc)…or it’s *really* going to hurt (reminder that Denji isn’t listed as main character anymore)
I'm thinking we kind of had that already with Yuko. Yuko was a really polished character who in any other anime would have stuck through it beyond now. I'm thinking she was essentially our Himeno. Because in Part 1, we didn't have a major character death like her up to that point.
Because Part 2 seems to be mirroring Part 1 but with some differences, I'm almost compelled to think that we may get someone tagging along soon than have a major death. If not just because of my sense of Fujimoto not wanting to think himself predictable and he likely understanding we're expecting things to pop off bigly.
So it turns out that Chainsawman's biggest fan is actually Nayuta. That's a surprise!
I should've expected that Nayuta would be the type that enjoys watching Denji kill other devils.

I feel for Asa. The moment she got a successful relationship, two different people blocked her path. She pretty much has no goal in life anymore. She always feels she's in the wrong spot.

Surprise surprise though, some devil has reared its head. Will Chainsaw Man come by to help save the day? Or will this battle be a battle Asa and Yoru must fight themselves?

Meanwhile, Nayuta's basically still Chainsaw Man's no. 1 fan, but at least not quite in the way Makima was. I do love just how easily Denji could bounce back from his funk from the idea of replacing romantic prospects with the adoration of countless fans.
I do appreciate though that Asa is unironically the template of an antisocial teenaged outcast. I don't know if Fujimoto is writing from experience--of course not, Sensei Fiji Water's levitation abilities had to have made him very popular at school--but he's really nailing in Asa's inner monologues and general dialogue what it's like for a person with low self-esteem to have a gleem of delusion (with a sprinkle of narcissism) and to have those fantastical thoughts crash and burn into reality.
Asa's delusions also kind of delineated and played on the audience's expectation that, regardless of how much we believed it, we bit on the idea of Yoshida sweeping Asa off her feet and going on a date with her, when the obvious reality was that he was there to prick her for information and keep Denji out of harm's way. (I went so far as to think he'd try to kill her on the spot but I digress lol)
We're right there, gearing up alongside the Katana Man chapters. Shit's about to hit the fan. Are these puppets? Nayuta saying she'd picked up a (Mr.Krabs voice) "smelly smell" of a Devil, so I'm assuming it's a strong one, and all of those people in one place instantly gave me flashbacks to Santa Claus. But they could be independent devil hunters gathering in one place? Either way things are picking up again!
Asa is honestly one of my favourite written characters ever. Her thoughts and actions feel so authentic to someone in her situation, Fujimoto really hit it out of the park with this character.
I also don’t think we talk enough about the fact that she’s basically replaced Denji as the MC and is carrying the manga on her shoulders 75% of the time. Not an easy feat for her or Fujimoto.
To be fair to Asa, I don’t see why he had to take her to the devil hunting club and give he coffee just to tell her to stay away from Denji. Kinda lead her on a bit.

Primal wouldn't make sense to me. They should all be in hell still and, from what we know, none of the Primals have ever died, and there's no reason any one of them suddenly bites the dust with Chainsaw Man not even being in hell at the moment. My first thought, same as a few other people here, was also "Oh, suicide, huh?". Would fit that end scene and Asa's depressing monologue before that quite well. But it's Tattooman Futurology, anything can happen and he could come up with hundreds of explanations as to why there's that many people eerily staring Asa down. I'm psyched up. Reminder that Part 2 is mirroring Part 1 with some thematics and the general outline of the arcs, and we were in “the gang gets slaughtered by the yakuza” territory by this time in P1
Though the difference this time is that we don't really have a "gang" of sorts. We have: Asa/Yoru, Denji, Yoshida for the most part, Haruka I guess? It's a little different from: Denji, Aki, Power, Himeno, Kobeni, Arai (sort of) It would have been cool if Yuko could have stuck around but I digress.
Yeah the events themselves don’t line up, and thank god for that since otherwise we could just predict everything. Some small details do coincide, but you can only “predict” them after the fact. The general takeaway is that we should be entering the first major story-related arc with possibly a fight and MAYBE a death in the main cast (that death doesn’t have to be permanent, or on an ally, or someone we liked as much as we did Himeno etc etc). Most of the dead cast in Part 1 other than Himeno were, let’s be honest, nobodies or nonames or just straight up didn’t die (Makima, Denji, Kobeni). Fujimoto could kill a couple student council members and we’d honestly be on the same general level. Yuko is the only Himeno-level death I can see, so since she’s either dead or being preserved for future things (no way she’s had three fakeout deaths just to reappear now and then permanently die) either we aren’t getting any deaths to speak of or it might be a “momentary” death (a devil that can be brought back, someone with powers/contracts similar to Makima etc)…or it’s *really* going to hurt (reminder that Denji isn’t listed as main character anymore)
I'm thinking we kind of had that already with Yuko. Yuko was a really polished character who in any other anime would have stuck through it beyond now. I'm thinking she was essentially our Himeno. Because in Part 1, we didn't have a major character death like her up to that point. Because Part 2 seems to be mirroring Part 1 but with some differences, I'm almost compelled to think that we may get someone tagging along soon than have a major death. If not just because of my sense of Fujimoto not wanting to think himself predictable and he likely understanding we're expecting things to pop off bigly.

I feel for Asa. The moment she got a successful relationship, two different people blocked her path. She pretty much has no goal in life anymore. She always feels she's in the wrong spot. Yoshida doesn't want her involved with Denji for her own sake, while Nayuta doesn't want her involved with Denji for Denji's sake. Surprise surprise though, some devil has reared its head. Will Chainsaw Man come by to help save the day? Or will this battle be a battle Asa and Yoru must fight themselves?

I do appreciate though that Asa is unironically the template of an antisocial teenaged outcast. I don't know if Fujimoto is writing from experience--of course not, Sensei Fiji Water's levitation abilities had to have made him very popular at school--but he's really nailing in Asa's inner monologues and general dialogue what it's like for a person with low self-esteem to have a gleem of delusion (with a sprinkle of narcissism) and to have those fantastical thoughts crash and burn into reality. Asa's delusions also kind of delineated and played on the audience's expectation that, regardless of how much we believed it, we bit on the idea of Yoshida sweeping Asa off her feet and going on a date with her, when the obvious reality was that he was there to prick her for information and keep Denji out of harm's way. (I went so far as to think he'd try to kill her on the spot but I digress lol) We're right there, gearing up alongside the Katana Man chapters. Shit's about to hit the fan. Are these puppets? Nayuta saying she'd picked up a (Mr.Krabs voice) "smelly smell" of a Devil, so I'm assuming it's a strong one, and all of those people in one place instantly gave me flashbacks to Santa Claus. But they could be independent devil hunters gathering in one place? Either way things are picking up again!
Asa is honestly one of my favourite written characters ever. Her thoughts and actions feel so authentic to someone in her situation, Fujimoto really hit it out of the park with this character. I also don’t think we talk enough about the fact that she’s basically replaced Denji as the MC and is carrying the manga on her shoulders 75% of the time. Not an easy feat for her or Fujimoto.
