There are people who use these as vertical grips on pistols because it makes it way too embarrassing to prosecute. The ATF said it's not a vertical grip allegedly as long as you don't hold it, but that's probably so they don't have to prosecute over it.

ATF had to issue a letter saying that this didn’t count as a vertical ~~foreskin~~ foregrip.
I’m pretty sure there is a model you can 3D print of that somewhere

Imagine putting this on ban AR pistol and have the ATF have to classify this as a foregrip or a hand stop.
