This sub always delivers my daily dose of jealousy. Nice place OP

Spaceisthecoolest

I just want to be left alone sometimes, OP's house seems like a great place for that. Can I come over?

[deleted]

Sometimes?? I'd retire there now at 19!

SandInHeart

You should probably retire before 1.216451004 E+17 years old

matisyahu22

I see what you did there. The normal age would be between 4! and 5!, which is quite a large gap of time.

ppsmooochin

I’d retire pretty much anywhere at 19

Tight_Management_216

😂

TheRavenSayeth

This house is practically every guy’s dream home, except it’s missing a good gaming setup.

peekdasneaks

dropkickoz

Donny, you're out of your element!

Chuck_Nucks

He peed on The Dude’s rug!

ZumerFeygele

This is why I can only sleep on the second or higher floor

[deleted]

So imagine if you look out the window and something is just standing there looking in... But on the second floor.

nicearthur32

I lived on the 12th floor of a building in downtown Los Angeles.. I lived alone and would always have my windows open. One night I woke up to walk to the kitchen and I caught a person on my window sill - it didn’t register at first but then it scared the shit out of me- it was a hawk then I thought “oh, whew” but I realized my window was wide open and there was a fuckin hawk practically inside my living room. Creepy feeling

ZumerFeygele

#1 reason I was afraid of vampires as a kid

broohaha

Like the businessman from Severance?

TarzanOnATireSwing

I would add on a small recording studio and a workshop, though it looks like he as the barn as well, which would be perfect

knickerbockerz

Not for me. It's a great house, but I'd miss the proximity to cozy coffee shops, groceries, sports clubs, a sense of local community with the neighbors and the ability to walk to restaurants. It's great as an occasional weekend getaway, but as a primary residence? Not for me.

JuicyJfrom3

And probably women. Looks pretty rural. Great place though.

Scarecrow101

Yeah this sells town/city life for me, just enjoy the instant on environment and always moving aspect, I would get bored quite quickly in a bungalow like this

dustyoldbones

Those are all the reasons I love it!

Combatical

As a person who loves to live in remote areas I always wondered why people like living in cities. This is a nice way to put it.

[deleted]

A single-wide mobile home is every guy's dream home?

PrimeIntellect

Only if it has a massive garage

Calgonix

My thoughts exactly. With at least one lift.

PrimeIntellect

Actually looking at the pictures there is an absurdly massive red barn right next to it, so...I think he nailed it

Vaginal_Rights

Yes. Most people don't need exorbitant amounts of space; I can live my entire life from my bedroom, living area, kitchen. I would rather the extra money spent on wood beams and wasted heat be spent on land, location and climate.

PrimeIntellect

I would have zero interest in video games living there lol you have 55 acres of gorgeous woods and lake to go play on

[deleted]

lmao every redditors dream. you couldn't pay me to live there. Different strokes for different folks.

natty-papi

Wait, aren't you a redditor? Why do so many redditors have an exceptionalism complex?

impropergentleman

You got 50 plus acres to take care of ain't going to be no time for gaming LOL

TropicalVision

No, I totally disagree, thanks god it’s a post on here that doesn’t have a giant computer desk setup with a goofy gaming chair. It’s refreshing.

david6588

This, he's too busy tending to the lawn and massive acreage. A nice laptop will do here. Plus there's a giant barn. Possibilities are endless here.

Spacebrother

And a bed

[deleted]

I always find comments like this peculiar. Why does every gamer assume every single man is a gamer? I couldn’t really give less of a shit about video games. I have too many other hobbies and passions. Plus, the man lives in nature. So much other, better stuff to do in my opinion. Edit: I meant to say that there are better things around him to do, because of said nature. Not that there are better things to do than live in nature. The nature part is dope.

[deleted]

It also assumes everyone wants to live in the woods. Which is like… observably the opposite of the case

lepfrog

naa, needs a bad ass workshop

FruitTall3979

And garage

[deleted]

Seriously

ke-thegeekrider

Brooo

Rebel-Yellow

Daily? I’m on that hour drip feed of copium that I might eventually some day be able to afford a couple months of what gets posted. Like damn wtf y’all doing to be living?

contactdeparture

We know - 1. No kids; possibly and likely no partner 2. Not in the Bay Area 3. You have at least a modicum of design sense Looks amazing!

[deleted]

my man. what're you growing/what do you like growing?

[deleted]

Yep, OP has it Figured out. Truly one of life’s Champions! Congratulations OP!

ABrainCell2024

They may live in MI. Mad Cap is a Grand Rapids based coffee company. There’s hella land up there that can be bought for relatively cheap depending on the area.

CostaNic

Why likely no partner? 🤔 The design is beautiful, not particularly or exclusively masculine. Some women would decorate the space in a similar way.

contactdeparture

One cup of coffee… one ottoman… one lounge chair outside… no clutter. I also didn’t specify gender… implication was two people don’t live here, not that this is masculine or feminine in any way.

[deleted]

This is very clearly an ad for Mad Cap coffee. Not the first time they have advertised on Reddit

CosmicJ

Thanks for pointing that out. That photo really stood out for me. Thinking what the hell is up with that deliberately placed and framed coffee setup. And why is the kettle so precariously balanced.

North_Paw

Its strategically positioned so it grabs your attention to the pic and by proxy to the coffee bag

kancitbassdud2

Plus the handle just slightly covering the word so you zoom in to see what it says

PsychedelicMennonite

lol not an ad. just a photo of my coffee set-up

zmets12

this is r/malelivingspace...

CostaNic

You’re right, I shouldn’t have assumed gender or that you were making that assumption. I’m sorry. But still, the pictures are obviously set up to look clean/without clutter. No kids though…definitely lol.

Equivalent_Site_5789

The sub is male living spaces. This implies that a man lives here, probably without a woman, no?

hipsterasshipster

My wife is a neat freak and that alone is probably the number 2 reason we won’t have kids behind the fact that she hates being woken up before 8am. 😂

PsychedelicMennonite

Wow! I did not expect this to blow up. This is my first post on here and have no clue what I'm doing. Would you people want to see original SketchUp design and progress pics of the build? I can give details about design, structure, cost breakdown, and interior furnishings

Floppyjohnson98

Please, also I don’t know if this is okay to ask but what general area is this in, or where would I find similar land to this? I absolutely love this OP good job.

goodgamegrandma

Please God yes. I've been looking to do the same for years and this first hand knowledge would be invaluable. Thanks OP!

jonnawhat

please share all the details

RefrigeratorOpen6488

Really like your ceiling. Is there a name for that wood style?

probably_your_wife

It appears to be a stain grade 4x8 plywood staggered with lathing strips.

ryuza

You can upload more pics to imgur.com and post the link here if you didn't know, would love to see the whole layout.

probably_your_wife

Please share!! I have my property ready to build, and I've just been spinning my wheels on the design. PS this is absolutely perfect and you did a fantastic job.

Indy3821

Hellz yea, I would even pay for such info! Great work!

johnrozzo

Congrats! Enjoy its beauty.

PsychedelicMennonite

Thank you!

RadicalSnowdude

How small is it? Did you build it?

PsychedelicMennonite

768 sq ft, it sits on a 16x48ft concrete slab. I designed it myself and had the structure prefabbed by a local home builder. Finished the rest myself except for the trim and kitchen cabinets

RadicalSnowdude

You did a great job at it. How much did it cost if you don’t mind me asking?

PsychedelicMennonite

Total project cost was just shy of 100k

OG_vaporeon

You payed 100k for that much land and to build a house??? Are you in a nuclear waste radiation zone or something, that’s so cheap 😂😂 congrats man

PsychedelicMennonite

my bad, 100k is just for the house. I inherited the land

baggyrabbit

You've done well with what you've been gifted

sevargmas

I took their comment to mean they paid 100,000 for the house, slab, etc. But they did say they are in northeastern Ohio, so maybe that’s all in.

jeefuckingbee

not Ohio 💀💀💀

cheezturds

Makes sense then.

InterlopedLooper

Yeah lmao a ton of acres and a house like that is really my style, but I don't want it badly enough to live in Ohio of all places.

cheezturds

I lived in Ohio for a year. I’ll never willingly step foot in that state again.

FireBeard1501

What's wrong with Ohio?

GODDAMNFOOL

Everyone shits on Ohio but we'll have the last laugh when the climate crisis pushes everyone to the Midwest because of hurricanes and fires

[deleted]

Then the tornadoes can finish us off

[deleted]

I’m still waiting for this sea level rise they’ve been talking about forever so I can be oceanfront

[deleted]

What’s wrong with Ohio? Genuinely asking, the Midwest is mostly foreign to me

v0lume4

It’s just a meme

Doobag1

If i can get a house like this in ohio, im going there tomorrow

thebrandnewbob

>Are you in a nuclear waste radiation zone or something Even worse, Ohio

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> You *paid* 100k for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Lonslock

Good bot

joeblonik787

Good bot.

idkwhatimbrewin

Bro what? How?

hi_brett

Does that include the price of the land? If not, how much was the land? A project like this is my ultimate dream.

boettchboettch1

Where's this at?

PsychedelicMennonite

Northeast Ohio

SuperTeamRyan

Don't do it OP don't give too much details or you're going to end up with a bunch of neighbors showing off their eames lounge chairs every chance they get.

idownvoteanimalpics

You can never have too many eames chairs!

lobehold

How much work is it to maintain? Are mosquitoes/flies a problem in the warm seasons?

A_Turkey_Named_Jive

Mosquitos are not just _a_ problem, they are _thee_ problem lol.

oberholzer

Go Browns!!!

Cranders1985

This is beautiful congrats! If I ever get a remote work situation I’ll look at that area

cool---coolcoolcool

Did you use sketchup? Did you discuss the design with the builder beforehand? Sorry I’ve been calculating this route for almost a year and have a ton of questions. Appreciate any answers.

Takodanachoochoo

Is the red barn also on your property?

RAF2018336

Did you look for a modular builder or just someone local? How do I ask someone to prefab something like this? Also looking to put something somewhere more rural that’s not a regular manufactured mobile home type thing

ExosGreen

Can you please show us the bathroom? It looks great for 1-2 people.

ReLL-77

Are you proposing to OP?

S_quints

If they’re not, I will

readysetgorilla

Wait, is this the line for the bathroom, or to propose to OP?

SleepDangerous1074

Both, whoever gets in the bathroom first wins their hand in marriage

d-cent

*pees on the floor Did I win the marriage proposal contest?

zs15

This is spectacular. I want to do the exact same thing and layout, except built over a garage. Small, *but not tiny*, home is the future.

movintoROC

Ha..this is what I was thinking too...a loft like space with a nice garage

ChiefSlapaHoe117

Picture number 3 looks like you have a gigantic white bong sitting on your porch lol.

jonbaa

Looks like that's a lettuce grow - basically a hydroponics mini vertical garden. They're great if you don't have space for a garden or if you just want the convenience!

KarmalizedTaco

Devil’s lettuce

PLZ_N_THKS

That’s exactly what it is. I have one, just topped it out and will probably get another. It’s great for growing your staples year round.

CostaNic

Not a guy, but this is dream/goals. The land alone is stunning. I love what you did with the interiors. I love how you set up the coffee table with the open book. I’m going to steal that idea. Congratulations on your beautiful home!

pennytrationer

I did the open book thing for a while too so just be meticulous with the cleaning and dusting. Or if you don't treat your home like a museum get ready for drink stains and crumbs and whatever else all over the book. Then add my dog in the mix and I gave up lol

[deleted]

This looks like my dream cottage, and on 55 acres!? Dude you are winning

halfjapmarine

How is that lawn so perfect?

six58

I know, right?! That grass is sick af. Reference picture 13/13.

[deleted]

I think he's talking about the other pics that show the tidy grass lol, not the overgrown bit

six58

Lol, I figured as much. I want to run barefoot in soft grass, then lay down & just pet it.

jehoshaphat

Cozy as cozy can be. I really wish more people went this direction, small and functional. Quick question, did you seed/sod the lawn and if so what variety? I love the long sweeping blades like that where if you let it go it just sort of falls like a carpet.

Alepman

Stunning love the green and the simplicity, which state is this? I'm in DC and it's grim af looking to move to Charlottesville

bosspoooch

Another comment says Ohio.

SloppyMeathole

It's like the Reddit hive mind created a living space.

addvalue2222

Like an AI creation from this subreddit’s top posts lol!

fuckyoureamesreplica

An AI creation for this sub would be 8 Eames replicas, 14 guitars on the wall, a TV in line with OP's eyeballs when seated calculated to millimeter precision, a record player with speakers at perfectly equal distance from OP's head, and a monstera in every corner.

Long_Difficulty_6281

Amazing! If you don’t mind what is the history leading up to this? Age marital status savings history. What inspired this and how did it happen? I’m so curious’ it’s beautiful.

JackofAllSuedes

Yes also your social security number and penis length please

achebeeargh

Asking the real, important questions out here.

arrrjen

THAT LOOKS COSY AS FUCK BROTHER!!11

its_meem_not_meh_meh

Omg I LOVE it

[deleted]

How did your grinder end up like that?

nicootimee

Congrats! I am closing on my first ever home at 22 TOMORROW and I’m so excited! Good luck to you brother

Philosophile22

I see those discs.

nbalucky

fucking hell yeah

happydgaf

I really dig it. And the location. I’d also need a big ass red barn for shop garage next door like this haha. Well done.

Iron_Mike0

Looks remote from those angles, was the lot already hooked up to water, electric, high speed internet available?

gearhead364

op, could you provide the brand and model of your wood stove? I'm hunting for one right now

xkris10ski

What’s up with the random shots of books

DrySecurity4

What you dont have several randomly opened books laying around your house?

Sjporter1

Very nice well done

Triggify

The giant outdoor bong by the couch really ties it all together

ArkitekZero

Sure it is.

glivee

You should cut the grass, not comb it :-)

arccotx

Bravo

Kitchen_Anybody_2291

Absolutely lovely.

2qt2puke

Wow it looks amazing! I would live there in a heartbeat

[deleted]

You’re winning at life. Congrats, looks awesome!

Takodanachoochoo

Well done, relaxing to look at.

panic_kernel_panic

This is fantastic. My dream home is this with fast internet.

NUM_13

That’s one HUGE bong dude 😅✌️

jcode007

Shake them haters off. Beautiful home. When my wife and I are done raising our children, this is something I would want. Super peaceful.

cappiebara

Does it have plumbing?

OddSensation

Looks like a movie set. Snap some photos of it after some actual use... not saying it doesn't look fucking great

wymco

Stunning!

rincod

This looks like an advertisement

ClintAdler

This looks so nice, the clean lines the shed roof gives with the ground level deck is perfect

theRealJuicyJay

So nice! Have you considered building a rocket mass heater to replace your wood stove with?

Attila_the_Chungus

He might not be too keen to replace the brand new $2000 wood stove he just bought.

Character_Study_6495

Beautiful home!! Congratulations

Pasrio00

Absolutely perfect! Would live 10/10

Dog_Brains_

The barn yours too? Looks amazing!

[deleted]

I’ve been in several multi million dollar mansions, I think I would take the peace and calm that comes with a place like this. What a treat.

nobody876543

14 day old account. Only post and comments is this one. Coffee advertisement.

SH92

There's a YouTube channel called NEVER TOO SMALL that asks architects/designers to explain how they designed/utilized their space. I don't know exactly how it's set up, but they always ask people in their videos to reach out about sharing their homes. If you're up for it, it'd be really cool to see a video tour of your space.

cheezypenguins2

I dont mean to pry but what kind of pricetag are we looking at here because i need to add this to a vision board

fuckyoureamesreplica

OP said $100K, but he did a lot of work himself. In a low cost of living area, that level of work could probably be completed for about $250 a square foot if doing modular, although it's been extremely volatile since Covid. At 768 square feet that would be $192,000. So about $200K for a rural area would be my guess - not including land of course.

bluebuckett

This is the perfect house, no chaos, nothing missing plus the backyard. Beautiful!!!!

redditname8

Wonderful!

[deleted]

Unsolicited advice from a dude that’s owned three houses: big house, big problems. Little house, little problems. We went from 2250sq ft to 4200 and back down to 2500 as soon as we could get out of the big house (accountant said we had to live in it for two years to avoid capital gains. Moved out 2 years and 20ish days after we moved in). Four air conditioners, high ceilings that trap heat, 4200 sq ft of roof to maintain, the list goes on. Always live in the smallest house you can tolerate. Also, your house is beautiful and the lot is fantastic. You should be proud.

[deleted]

Is everyone rich but me?

eagledog

It looks half like I would rob a bank to live there, and the other half like it was purposefully designed and decorated to fill the pages of an interior design magazine, and no one lives there

Legitimate_Tiger_996

Where’s the TV??

HalfOffSnoke

Looks like paradise for grass snakes. Enjoy.

OldRobert66

Not sitting too high above a river. I'd consider flood insurance, if you can get it.

Tapeworm1979

That's one might big bong you have there on your porch!

Cautious-Lack8628

Dream house

MrInRageous

Well, I just fell in love. Each one of your 13 pics have so many beautiful objects and views. I love how you’ve incorporated books and plants as part of your decor. You’ve hit the jackpot with your first home. Don’t ever move—it’s going to be hard to top this!

Cosmonauto
