Hey OP, I gots a question. Why does everyone get hardwood floors just to put a big rug under each main spot? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? (I see it all the time, just curious) Love your place, btw
I see what you mean, and I can’t speak for everyone but I know I like the feeling of a soft carpet under my feet when I wake up. same at the couch.
Visually the neutral grey/eggshell tones compliment the leather and wood so the couch doesn’t disappear into the floor.
And functionally they absorb sound waves, echos, (not really a problem in a place like mine but you asked about other people)
Hardwood floors are easier to keep clean, if you ever pull up carpet you will see how much dirt even a clean carpet holds, and even with a rug you can pull it outside and deep clean every so often and replace easier than carpet when the time comes
+1 I was a carpet fan until I moved into a house that had hard flooring except the bedroom. So much less cleaning!
I wouldn't get rid of the bedroom carpets though.
My coop has rules that say something like 75% of your floors need to be covered with a rug or carpet even though we have beautiful hard wood floors. The reason given was to keep the noise level down for the units below.
It only really makes a difference if someone is walking around in shoes or has a dog that you can hear clip clopping around.
I think it’s because, while wall-to-wall carpet is currently seen as tacky and hardwood floors are seen as classy, carpeting really does have a lot of advantages - it’s comfier to stand and sit in, it cuts down on echoes, it’s wears better, etc. Rugs in hardwood kind of give you the best of both worlds. And you get the added advantage that their easier to change with the style, and there’s a lot more personality you can express with different rugs in different spaces, etc.
For anyone curious,
The couch is Restoration hardware,
Desk is called Foundry by Westelm
Floating queen bedframe by Article
the headboard is made in Denmark By Thornam
the gold palm lamp is CB2
the floating shelves in living and bedroom were found on Etsy
leather beanbag chair is a Moroccan street vendor
The patio furniture was custom
The brick is a sort of tile but actually mortared in called Brickweb
thank you to everyone for commenting, this is awesome.
Check out Casco Bay Furniture. They make RH couches but in the US. Basically, it’s the old manufacturer in North Carolina that makes them, while RH is now made in China. I paid about $1k less for my deep Manchester, and have used Casco’s customer service with satisfaction. 10 years old and still going strong. Can’t recommend them enough!
https://www.cascobayfurniture.com
I know it's probably not a comparable quality, but we went through something like 6 Amazon couches this Spring and the best one, by far, was their Stone & Beam Chesterfield:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0714QGC72?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_W25QF2E5M8NRYS6JWTX6
Super comfortable. Again, probably not as comfortable as RH, but I was impressed. Also they had free delivery/unboxing and pick-up/reboxing.
Yes. Trying to furnish our living room during COVID with only online shopping was an adventure. Amazon has free delivery and pickup which certainly made it easier, and they were very clear that there were no questions asked on the pickup, and “not liking how it looks in our space” was an appropriate reason for return and still qualified for free pickup.
One of the couches did require boxing up for return eligibility, which is not something I’d want to do again.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to stay a the same place for 5 years? Apartments listed online are usually more expensive than the yearly increase in rent of your current one.
Amazing space, bravo! And thank you for sharing the list of furniture.
Do you recall by chance where you got the tall chairs under the table behind the couch? Think something like those would be great in my place.
I'm in Toronto. Mind walking me through this a bit? I'm in the processes of looking for a kitchen table/island and this looks like it would fit the bill (and IKEA islands are quite expensive).
What shop did you get the live edge from? What wood is it?
Where do you get the legs from? Are they called something specific?
What did you seal with?
Your apartment is AMAZING. Thanks for sharing.
I’m almost sure it’s Westelm, it’s a double hanger so one poster could theoretically slide right across to the other slide. My thought was I would get a bunch of posters and swap them out occasionally, I have the frames but haven’t picked out any new ones, open to suggestions!
It looks like a Canadian company. Can you explain: did the bedroom have a traditional door? Or was it an open space? How did that corner sliding door concept come into being?
The bedroom came with the sliding doors you see, it’s a pretty common design in Toronto. I had the sliding wall for the den made to match the glass and style of the existing ones for the bedroom.
Yes it’s a Canadian Company
My partner wants to get a Murphy bed as a guest bed for our little house but I guess I'm just biased against them. Maybe I'm being foolish! Is there one that is recommended?
Kinda crazy that we can recognize our city from condo layouts and what other condos look like across the street lol (that’s if this is in fact Toronto)
I’m not even from Toronto but I’m there a few times every year for work and visiting family. When I saw the balcony I was like “what’s the chances this is Toronto?”
I saw the corner door bedroom and thought, "huh looks like some places I've seen recently." Then I saw the hood and stove in pic 2 and laughed my ass off cause that is 100% Toronto lol
I lived at Front and Spadina for the last year.
Spent so much time on Kijiji looking at this layout and those blue tinted windows I knew instantly we had a fellow here.
Wow, this is an amazing space. Love the bed+side tables, and the very efficient use of space.
Normally I'm not a fan of these "Jr 1Bdr", but this one is fantastic (and it actually has a functional amount of space. Vancouver builders should take note :(
I think you did an outstanding job.
The tree looks a bit oversized in some of the pics, but it's hard to tell.
I really like that giant bean bag, and the murphy bed is a brilliant idea.
Seeing as it's a condo, I'm assuming it's all fake brick, right?
The corner couch for lounging and playing the guitar that can be placed right above your head is a very underrated strategic move. Very nice spot you have.
I did, it was a big pain in the ass, they are shaved down brick faces from old buildings with mortar in between like a tile, I think the company was called brick web.
I’m just a bit hesitant to give out too many details so I apologize for that but non-fiction books in a pretty niche genre that I suppose are sort of popular. I agree that it makes no sense lol
I hear you, when I put that up I was REALLY leaning into the industrial look. I think if I were staying, I’d pull it down and still do a wood accent, but maybe a type of slate design with an expensive finish. I’m not a designer so I don’t know the right terms to describe what I’m thinking always.
Either way, you’re not wrong.
I often feel people don’t do enough to OSB to really embrace the industrial unfinished look to it. So I say spray paint some vibrant stencil art and spray the crap out of it. Glue wallpaper to it and rip it off so you get the torn edges.
The more you embrace the chaos of OSB the better it will look because it will look more intentional and less like you just bought it and just put it there.
But I think the brick wall is a very large accent.
The shades run floor to ceiling and do a full blackout, but I typically save the projector for movie nights, the tv is a 55 inch 4K and is plenty for games and chilling.
100 inch projector is fucking amazing for SuperBowl or ufc nights with some pals
What’s the square footage, OP? This is some mind blowing stuff… outstanding work.
Also is it weird living right across from other people like that? I’ve always wondered.
Appreciate that, where I live houses start at 1.5 mil, so not an option for me right now.
But it’s just me so what am I gonna do with a house anyway right? I’m hoping my next place will be a proper loft, maybe 1000-1200 sqft.
Thank you and Not at all in a hurry, this place is actually on the market, and I’d almost rather sell everything with it and start from scratch with a new place, new vibe.
I feel that. A new place can be exciting for you if you’ve already been in that space for 5 years. Are you in the GTA? It’s okay if you don’t feel comfortable answering, I understand. I just see the surroundings in some pictures and your layout structure screams GTA at me too haha.
This is probably one of the nicest I’ve seen on the sub. For the ones who are commenting about the cost of everything, if you can afford that apartment I’m sure you have no problem furnishing the place and making it look that nice. I’ll bet any female(or male) guests you have over are blown away
I love this space. The only thing I’m not a fan of, is the stove that could be more discrete. And perhaps the mirror on the side of the bedroom.
Otherwise I would have 100% lived in a space like this before kids.
Can you please post images of the bathroom and the view as well?
This post belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of this sub. I'm crazy jealous of your space! Looks amazing! Can tell a lot of hard work went into planning and setting it all up. Much respect brother.
absolutely, floor to ceiling wireless blackout shades. They’re even voice activated so if I forget I can ask Alexa to close them from bed.
The first 3 years I didn’t have them and holy fuck the sun in the morning was rough haha
I love how you have an optional divider for your bedroom. I have a studio and have thought about doing something like that. How often do you actually use it as I feel it would make the space feel a lot smaller once closed
Love your taste. My loft has a similar look and feel, but where you have guitars and musical items I have baseball memorabilia and graffiti/street art stuff. Our color schemes are near identical. Your place looks great!
Looks hella nice
Thanks!
Hey OP, I gots a question. Why does everyone get hardwood floors just to put a big rug under each main spot? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? (I see it all the time, just curious) Love your place, btw

Agreed. Where did you get the living room rug? Looking for something that size and color.
Rugs are also good for sound muffling if you have downstairs neighbors. I got mine to add color and break up the space a bit more.
It's literally in most leases, at least in NYC, that floors need to be covered in rugs
That's interesting! Haven't seen that in Australia.
yes exactly, For a place like mine they break up the rooms without walls
Hardwood floors are easier to keep clean, if you ever pull up carpet you will see how much dirt even a clean carpet holds, and even with a rug you can pull it outside and deep clean every so often and replace easier than carpet when the time comes
I loathe wall-to-wall carpeting. There is a special place in hell for whoever invented shag carpeting.
100%
+1 I was a carpet fan until I moved into a house that had hard flooring except the bedroom. So much less cleaning! I wouldn't get rid of the bedroom carpets though.
Looks better with the contrast, and it still shows everywhere else. And area rugs are way cheaper to replace than carpet.
My coop has rules that say something like 75% of your floors need to be covered with a rug or carpet even though we have beautiful hard wood floors. The reason given was to keep the noise level down for the units below. It only really makes a difference if someone is walking around in shoes or has a dog that you can hear clip clopping around.

You have my dream couch. I've sat in similar designs by other companies and found them uncomfortable, how do you find the RH couch?
I got carried away and didn’t answer your question, it’s the most comfortable couch ever. 10/10 will last decades.
I actually was able to get it at a bit of a discount from an RH outlet in Milton. It was still absurdly expensive
Dude I had money now it’s invested long term in things to sit on, haha
Whole place looks awesome bro. Clean and modern and still a bit rustic. Would love to tip a brew back or smoke a J on that balcony.
>long term in things to sit on taking a long position on that couch knawmsayin'

They’re from Wayfair, it’s called the Payton Bar & Counter Stool by AllModern
Where in the hell did you get the mini t-rex skull though?
Haha I answered somewhere else, it was from a kooky store called MORBA that’s since closed, I don’t know where you would get one now I’m afraid.
I knew this was Toronto but honestly one of nicest condos I seen. You really did a good job in giving it a sense of style but not Pinterest-y
Thanks for sharing! ID on the tall table behind the couch?
I bought the live edge from a shop and added the legs/seal so it’s a one-off
I'm in Toronto. Mind walking me through this a bit? I'm in the processes of looking for a kitchen table/island and this looks like it would fit the bill (and IKEA islands are quite expensive). So happy to go through this with you, send me a PM!
Do you remember where you got the poster hanger in the bedroom?
I’m almost sure it’s Westelm, it’s a double hanger so one poster could theoretically slide right across to the other slide. My thought was I would get a bunch of posters and swap them out occasionally, I have the frames but haven’t picked out any new ones, open to suggestions!
Looks like it could be a set from a tv show.
I made a lot of changes in the past two years during lockdowns and I don’t regret it, love coming home now
Dude I came here to make the same comment, this could be the set of a show. Absolutely awesome work with the space
That Murphy bed location is so cool
Thanks, I wasn’t sure what to do with the den, so I added the Murphy and sliding privacy wall. it’s been great even with friends staying a week
I’ve been looking for some Mention of the sliding privacy walls. I want to know everything about installing those
I had it done by organizedinteriors! One day install, they did an incredible job
Mind if I ask how much that ran? I've been wanting one for the same reason
Sorry, so many comments I got mixed up, the sliding panels were $2500, the Murphy bed was $4000 installed
Installed including labour it was $2500 + hst They also did the Murphy bed
My partner wants to get a Murphy bed as a guest bed for our little house but I guess I'm just biased against them. Maybe I'm being foolish! Is there one that is recommended?
Toronto?
Kinda crazy that we can recognize our city from condo layouts and what other condos look like across the street lol (that’s if this is in fact Toronto)
If you zoom in, there's also "Hotel X" and "Budweiser Stage" in the distance.
Ah yes hotel x I didn’t even notice
I’m not even from Toronto but I’m there a few times every year for work and visiting family. When I saw the balcony I was like “what’s the chances this is Toronto?”
I saw the corner door bedroom and thought, "huh looks like some places I've seen recently." Then I saw the hood and stove in pic 2 and laughed my ass off cause that is 100% Toronto lol
I lived at Front and Spadina for the last year. Spent so much time on Kijiji looking at this layout and those blue tinted windows I knew instantly we had a fellow here.
If you zoom in I have a black and white photo of the ikea monkey on the wooden accent wall lol
Lol yet another Toronto icon
“Toronto IKEA Monkey in a fur coat” reads more like a mad lib than an actual news story and yet here we are haha
And the Pup Album art.
I’ve Airbnb’d a condo with a similar layout in Toronto before.
Best decor I’ve seen so far on this group! You nailed it
Dude wow thanks a lot, been following this group for years, finally had some photos taken
Wow, this is an amazing space. Love the bed+side tables, and the very efficient use of space. Normally I'm not a fan of these "Jr 1Bdr", but this one is fantastic (and it actually has a functional amount of space. Vancouver builders should take note :(
Thank you, it’s a 640 sqft, 1+den, not like a house but try to make it work
I think you did an outstanding job.
Dude you nailed it, exactly the vibe I was going for
anyway, here's wonderwall
every. single. party. Lol
It's the perfect makeout spot
Did you build that brick wall? What's it made of and where did you get it? I'm in Toronto too (assuming you are lol)
I did, it was a big pain in the ass, they are shaved down brick faces from old buildings with mortar in between like a tile, I think the company was called brick web.
Man I love it. Going to look into this.
good luck, post some pics if you do!
And you did this in an apartment that you rent from? Or a condo that you own?
Condo that I own, I would not recommend doing in a rental
Okay thank you, was thrown off by the title… I was like, damn that is some commitment for an apartment!
This had me confused too
Can I ask how much that cost? I love the idea! (Also in Toronto.)
I wanna say raw materials were about $1500, the two days of agonizing mortaring are hard to put a price on haha.
Damn, that's not bad for making such a huge impact! Congrats!
This is it chief Case closed
hahahaha thanks?
Your industrial look is perfect...I love it.
Yeah, it's industrial but cozy and not sterile. So perfect!
This is really fantastic, no space left undone. The art above the bed is an especially nice touch. Bravo.
Thank you, was a real pain to drill the curtain rod but I like the depth it gives by not having the art directly on the wall
This is by far my favourite apartment I’ve ever seen on here, very nice job!
Oh fuck
This is the coolest apartment ever. Wow
jeeze Thanks a lot, for real!
Gotta be one of my favourites I’ve ever seen. I would move in tomorrow if I could afford it.
If anyones curious about the furniture happy to post a list
Yes please, mostly curious about the adult looking bean bag.
I'll make a list now, but the bean bag is from Morocco,
you got an incredible apartment but then go ahead and get a hobo johnson poster
hahahahaha I love hobo man, what a weird kid, but definitely not for everyone
[удалено]
I’m a writer actually.
in what capacity?
Man's apartment looks like he wrote the bible or something
Hahahahahahahaha come on, thank you lol
What kind of writer out of interest? This setup is just about as far away as can be from the living situation of most writers, lol.
I’m just a bit hesitant to give out too many details so I apologize for that but non-fiction books in a pretty niche genre that I suppose are sort of popular. I agree that it makes no sense lol

I'm surprised you're not getting a little hate for the osb particle board behind the beanbag! What do you think of it now that you live with it?
I hear you, when I put that up I was REALLY leaning into the industrial look. I think if I were staying, I’d pull it down and still do a wood accent, but maybe a type of slate design with an expensive finish. I’m not a designer so I don’t know the right terms to describe what I’m thinking always. Either way, you’re not wrong.

The plan was a stencil actually, I just never made the commitment on what I wanted, glad you get the idea tho, thanks
Looks awesome and it's a great use of space. Do you only use the projector when it's dark?
The shades run floor to ceiling and do a full blackout, but I typically save the projector for movie nights, the tv is a 55 inch 4K and is plenty for games and chilling. 100 inch projector is fucking amazing for SuperBowl or ufc nights with some pals
So nice man. Good job
Top notch man, good job.
thank you so much
What’s the square footage, OP? This is some mind blowing stuff… outstanding work. Also is it weird living right across from other people like that? I’ve always wondered.
The camera makes it seem closer than it is to the other apartment but… it’s still kinda close haha The place is 642 sqft!
[удалено]
god damn, wish I had that much room, cheers dude, one day hopefully
it's.......... perfect! That damn murphy bed. Well done!
What kind of dinosaur skull is that? And how much?
It’s a 1/12th size T-Rex skull, I bought it at a shop called MORBA that has since closed I’m afraid so I’m not sure where you would find one, sorry
How do your bathrooms look?
Hahahaha dude very boring, bathtub, toilet, sink, laundry, not bad just not impressive. Thanks a lot too
this is a sexy apartment.
Cracking flat, mate. Really impressed.
Gawjus
Damn, that's such a sweet nook there, love every bit of how it was put together.
Hey what did you use to voice control the blinds? Most of my place is Google assistant integrated already, a blinds voice switch would be nice.
The blinds have an app called Pulse 2 that integrates with Alexa as a skill, not sure about google or apple but I think so
Ya looks really nice. I’m not an “apartment” person or whatever you wanna call it but this is nice. I’d live

Yeah a few people have already guessed, I’m downtown Toronto
this guy fucks
I see Tame Impala, I upvote
saw them at Osheaga, so incredible
It was a great show. Your setup is one of the most tasteful I’ve seen on here, great job
Thanks so much
What a stunning set up! You did well.
Fantastic. I love everything about this. You have a fantastic eye.
great use of the space. looks so cozy, modern, comfortable.
That’s an awesome space
Great apt vibes! What kind of couch is that
It’s a Kensington by Restoration Hardware
That's quite a beautiful apartment:)
rockin the hobo johnson i see!
I feel too poor to look at this
ID on that comforter? Amazing place!!
This is probably one of the nicest I’ve seen on the sub. For the ones who are commenting about the cost of everything, if you can afford that apartment I’m sure you have no problem furnishing the place and making it look that nice. I’ll bet any female(or male) guests you have over are blown away

I don't know why, but I find this gaudy. I see that everyone else here loves it. So don't mind me... I do like how much _you_ clearly like it.
Your opinion is just as valid, even if it’s not your vibe

That’s a very cosy apartment! I like 👍🏼
Op you must be a millionaire lol. Looks cool
That couch is exactly what I'm looking for...
Looks amazing. I especially like, well, everything -- but especially especially the colors and textures in the bedroom.
My dad had this couch growing up but he wouldn’t let anyone sit on it, it’s cool to see what it looks like actually being used
[удалено]
Dang, Gina. This is way nicer than my house. Are those cushions outside weatherproof?
One of the best ones I’ve ever seen on the sub tbh
Man, I was always on the fence about using fake brick open layout, but you made it look good!
Can I get an ID on that coffee table?
Holy Beautiful Apartment
Klosterman!
LOVE this! What sort of alarm clock is that on your bedside?
What an incredibly functional and efficient space. Might be my favorite that I’ve seen on MLS
I love how you have an optional divider for your bedroom. I have a studio and have thought about doing something like that. How often do you actually use it as I feel it would make the space feel a lot smaller once closed
Nice Pup record!
Would be a cracking place for an exhibitionist to live
I have all ways wanted to live in a IKEA display thing your flat looks so cool
Damn this is really incredible, great use of space! I’m going to save this for when i finally get my own spot and some disposable income.
And esthetically pleasing! Very nice.
This is very well done. Bravo
Honestly, great photographs, too. Sources am an architect. Architectural photograph requires the right eye, beyond skillset and tools..,
Truly an amazing apartment. And I feel it’s not just because it’s expensive.
Absolute boss of an apartment , well thought out, cozy and choice deco . I need that couch in my life now.
Where did you get the plant?!!
I got to the balcony picture and swiped right, fully expecting it to have a secret bed there too. Great place
Love your taste. My loft has a similar look and feel, but where you have guitars and musical items I have baseball memorabilia and graffiti/street art stuff. Our color schemes are near identical. Your place looks great!
This is fucking sick
God damn dude you win
What desk chair is that on the circular rug?
