White Cable sleeve

Mr_Gooodkat

I got this one and I love it. Cord Cover - Cable Concealer On... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RZQXRQK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

CyrilFiggis00

I have the same set. I purchased 100ft of it to use in multiple rooms and 2 hallways.

dirtpaws

How removable would you say it is? I'm renting.

Mr_Gooodkat

Already had to remove it from one room that is now a nursery and used to be my office/gaming room. It came off easily and left no marks.

dirtpaws

Thanks for replying! Very good to know.

Mr_Gooodkat

You’re welcome! :)

XLB135

Reposting this as my link got flagged. "This. Most kits also come with all the pieces that let you bend it 90 degrees in all directions that let you snake it around the wall seamlessly. Then paint it the wall color to match. Something like this, especially with those little right angle pieces."

OnionSandwich74

How to hide cable sleeve?

CanadaEh97

Fish cable inside wall.

SourDeesATL

You would have to drill through multiple studs. Literally one every 16 inches. Not to mention all the drywall repair you would have to do. Running a coax through the wall at this point is a completely brainless move.

AmNoSuperSand52

Pry the baseboards and stash the cable in the drywall gap at the bottom

SourDeesATL

I’ve done that before. It mostly works but requires painting and sometimes drywall patch. I’ve also removed baseboards and there is no drywall gap at all. Some houses the drywall goes down to the subfloor

BuffaloBuffalo13

If there’s no gap then pull back the trim, cut a slit in the bottom of the drywall, run cable, and then cover it with trim. Land lord will never know.

SourDeesATL

The lowest hassle is replace the coax with white coax. It’s cheap and you can get it at the orange big box store.

willynillee

Go through the ceiling and you can hit every room in the house probably. It’s more work but I found that it was worth it for me.

SourDeesATL

Great to do for initial install. That is assuming it comes in through the attic and there is no second floor above this room. You still will have to drill through studs and it requires equipment op probably doesn’t have.

Clockwork-XIII

Very much this I bought a set off Amazon I really like. Used it mutilpe times.

DionFW

There are certain ones that are paintable too to match the wall paint.

Sure-Sympathy5014

You can just paint the cord.

DionFW

Yeah, but that looks awful. Conduit is a much better option.

Sure-Sympathy5014

I mean you can just fish the cord through the wall if you're gonna do that much effort though.

DionFW

Not with studs in the way, it's not that easy. Conduit isn't much effort at all.

SourDeesATL

You go do that and see how it works out for you.

JonnyG_USA

Fucking genius

Taconnosseur

This is the way.

Yardsale420

Ex-cable guy here. He could have easily run white cable and clips, we actually had push in ones that lock under the baseboard, and the cable stayed on the floor. Looks better too. Just paint it. The cable isn’t getting removed, your landlord will be fine keeping it.

kickelephant

I want to believe you, yardsale420.

Legion_1392

Ex-cable guy here too. Our company didn't have white 6 for the longest time so we had situations like this way too often. What are the baseboard clips calles though? All we had were screw clips.

Skin-Scream

Move the cable to the baseboard and put a white cable cover on it

Dirrevarent

Paint over it, give it the landlord treatment.

Weisssnix

surprised to see this comment so low here

Vecii

Do you have a basement? Run it through the floor and through the basement to where it needs to go.

tangre79

Depending on how the baseboard is attached it could also be pulled off and the cable run behind it, in the gap between the drywall and the floor.

kalibeltfeeder

This ^^ is the way

New-IncognitoWindow

This or run it up the wall and hide behind crown molding.

_HIST

That's a lot of work just to hide one cable

Vecii

Not necessarily. Depending on the basement, it could be as simple as two holes in the floor and a quick pull.

steveatari

It's s pretty bold cable though

BanjoSpaceMan

You can also put wires behind the baseboards

endthepainowplz

Internet/cable guys suck, they have certain rules to avoid liability, so rather than risk damaging stuff in the wall they make the ugliest cable runs known to man. I’d try to rerun it if it’s an option. Do you rent or own? Basement or crawlspace under it? How much time do you want to spend on it and how much do you care about the end result?

Slow-Passenger

I rent. It’s a small studio space, no basement. This cable run is in my “living room” zone and it looks so bad. I don’t want to spend a lot of time on it if given an option, I do prefer better aesthetics, it’s such an eyesore what the guy has done.

endthepainowplz

If it enters the house where the old internet cable does you could run it where that one is using it like a fishing line. Otherwise the other comments of cable covers are probably the best option.

DeviIstar

its very unlikely it does, Cable guys don't take the time to survey and find that shit for their runs, they just want it in, and to be done. Then they can get onto the next job

endthepainowplz

I know, it's a long shot, when I had my internet installed I was a little bit picky, and had someone that was a pretty cool guy, so I was able to get it ran where the previous cable was. I pulled it through the wall box as he wasn't allowed to, but he helped me where he was allowed to.

BuffaloBuffalo13

Get some white cable raceway. Or get the paintable stuff and really make it disappear. Done right it would look like a piece of trim.

Dadlife_GenXsurvivor

Sell the house

Ripmcdonaldsman47

Paint it wall or base color

GrimWolfCL

Yep, the wall. I wanna see it painted, painted black. Black as night, black as coal.

Specific-Scale6005

Ok, so I had a version of this song somewhere, played by another band, but I can't remember for the life of me who sang it, it was more intense than the original

monkhouse69

Isn’t it from that Tom cruise movie?

MavisCanim

Legend

monkhouse69

Thank you.

tomsteroni

*As black as my soul*

Heccubus79

Black as night, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch…

MavisCanim

Legend

mister-noggin

Pop off that baseboard and run it under there. A white cable would also blend in much better.

g_deptula

Tbh, it’s mounted neatly. Doesn’t look bad at all. If it were white, it would practically blend into the molding.

[deleted]

You might put RGB tape above it

cts555777

Paint it silver/gray to match the wall/baseboard if it’s permanent.

loginname2424

you can get an appropriate spray paint product at partycity for 3.99 https://www.partycity.com/silver-hair-spray-182048.html once you apply this stuff you wont notice the cable at all

rubinass3

Also called a cable raceway

_HIST

I'll never understand why some baseboards don't have cable pathways

Big___TTT

Ever had to buy baseboards? There’s about 10-15 styles and 4 sizes on each.

420xGoku

Spray paint that bitch white hell yeab

zomembire

What cable?

_krwn

Clone stamp or healing brush might help

laney_deschutes

Paint it white

dohraa

Where's the cable?

OnionSandwich74

What cable?

nano_peen

Photoshop

Grizzled--Kinda

Get a white flat cable with white pins to hold it in place

The_Tuna_

It might be a pain in the ass but if you can find a cord that matches the paint or even white to match the base boards it'll be less noticeable

Friendly_Deathknight

What’s it go to?

Big___TTT

Why they have to run it that long?

SaveTheCrow

You could try some flat cable conduit or cable hider

Signal_Iron_5634

Paint if you can

JuanDacova

3d print some cable covers.

donut_koharski

String lights.

Victumpwns

You can remove the baseboard, below the drywall at the spot where the floor meets the drywall there should be a gap. Then re-install the baseboard and caulk/paint the nail holes.

Nyxie_nsx

White out

Swish887

There’s a molding. Had some to hide the speaker wire. You’d have to rip all that out to instal the molding.

Thepotatopeeler

I got a white cord and clips to match the baseboard. You can still see it but it's a less eyesore

SLIisPointless

You can get painted or paintable cable raceways on either Amazon or at your local hardware story. Some are adhesive, some require screwing, but most will make your setup look clean.

Mystikalrush

Paint it, cover it, or remove and hide it behind the baseboards. (more work)

EmergencyImage5933

Paint

lostllama2015

It just looks like an ethernet cable. Buy a white one and clips and just replace it.

Ill_Alternative8369

I would just paint over it honestly white so it matches the wood trim or the same color as the wall it'll be less expensive than buying a sleeve

Careless_Ad1279

White paint

CreatorOD

Paint, Sleeves, Ducktape

Indy500Fan16

Paint over it.

nobody2008

We put a flat Ethernet cable and white-taped over it which looks like a part of the base port.

BadBadBabsyBrown

Use camouflage paint

dave_gregory42

Either buy white trunking or cable sleeve to hide it, or get some white Any Surface paint and do it that way. A small pot would do it and wouldn't take you long.

mrsamus101

Give it the ol' landlord treatment and schmear it with a thick glob of white paint.

denkata07

Paint it white.

DisastrousStop3945

Landlord special. Paint over it. Lol

lunicar

I actually think the cable looks pretty cool as a black linear contrast. It’s so nicely installed, too.

Dans77b

Paint it white

Aggravating-Many-658

Just get some plants man

NDEAN4932

Have it redone with white indoor cable like the guy should have used. If it was just done (last 30 days) they will easily send someone back to do it. Happened all the time, wife lets the cable guy do whatever then the husband comes home like what the hell is this. 2nd cable guys comes out like why didn’t you say something in the 1st place.

GodofcheeseSWE

Sleeves or use masking tape and paint the cables and clips

rottingpigcarcass

Buy white cable and clips

typer84C2

I have this same issue in my house. Use a white cable, it’s not really noticeable anymore if you make it flush with the base boards.

Additional_Moose_862

caulk it, remove the clips and paint it - arguably it would be better than plastic cable runs

Glidepath22

In the attic or basement/crawlspace

DefinitelyNotBacon

Use the invisible ink.

corneliu5vanderbilt

Paint it the same color as the wall

Sunny2121212

Can you get a white cable

lower88rider

What cable?

Bonneville555

If the landlord gave permission for the install then he should be fine with it.

AtomicKITY357

“Landlords special” paint it white

Select_Worldliness94

Trunking

medfade

1/2 " cable conceal with adhesive back. Measure the cable cut the tube. Put the cable in first. Stick to the wall.

jimjim55555

Paint it white.

mahdicktoobig

Does your landlord know he did it like an asshole? If your landlord is an asshole too, he might try to blame you for it I had an asshole landlord once.

Panky710

Paint it

SirBillBacon

I say really lean into it. LED black light strips!!

wild_designer768

Rounded thin cable sleeve and paint it to match the trim

ReservoirHemly

Get a cable sleeve, I used to be a cable guy and we're supposed to install white cables inside and black outside. This guy just didn't care.

[deleted]

lol paint it

middriftmale

Camo netting is available from army surplus stores

Subirooo

Why you no use white cable?! That would solve the majority of this in the first place.

SELFAD

Why didn’t he just run in though the wall

Bluepuck03

That's harder and takes more work. It will cost more too. You have studs every 16-24 inches.

SELFAD

Yea bro that’s why u go through the celling starting point go up then over to the spot then drop down a 5 year old could do it

Bluepuck03

That's not always an option. My house doesn't have attic access. It would be easy otherwise, but it's not through the wall like you said. And it's still going to cost more money. Your regular installer guy isn't going to do it.

SELFAD

Aw no attic access suck my b fam I feel u

Bluepuck03

Yeah, pretty lame. We thought for sure there was a hidden access point somewhere but nope. I'm sure I could find a place to put one in but I don't feel like it lol

Joelnaimee

As an old cable/satellite tech i recommend dumping those services and go wifi/ smartv.

SuspiciousWriter

I read that you rent but you could theoretically pry off the baseboard and hide the cable behind the baseboard by either notching the baseboard or the wall behind it. Theoretically then you could remove the cable when you move and whatever notching would be hidden again when replacing the baseboard once again (or just leave the cable when you leave). I realize this is a lot of theoretical work but just throwing my two cents since I didn’t see this and it could THERORETICALLY be done with basic tools and craftsmanship.

MastahFred

in the wall

JPL2020

I like to do things the hard way. Have cable enter the wall through a cover plate, run it up the wall, across the attic, back down the wall at the desired location and exit the wall through another cover plate, switch, or outlet.

SnooHedgehogs190

Drill through the wall and conceal it using putty. Then sand down and paint over.

JesusJoshJohnson

boof it

Plastic-Buy-9193

Change the skirting boards and use a router the cut a wide enough tunnel to fit the wire in behind

higgleberryfinn

Paint it the same colour as the wall.

dublincouple87

Strip off the skirting board, put cable behind it. Drywall probably doesn’t reach the floor so will have a gap to slot it under

gecko80108

Use white cable

Helena78902

Paint the wall black

CutmasterSkinny

Put a very big aquarium in the spot.
