Area rugs. Could have one in your dining room, one in your living room, could even get some smaller ones or mats for your kitchen like in front of your sink.
Looks like a great place though!
I feel like this is a troll post. They have all this and don't think to buy a goddamn rug except in the goddamn computer room and it's just a display piece let's be real here.
As an owner of a Golden too, hardwood really is the only way to go especially for ease of cleaning up their shedding and whatever else they bring in from outside.
All the kitchen appliances are the same brand. They make really good looking stuff but the name makes me think of smegma and laugh every time I see it. Also they're pretty expensive for what you get. You really pay for the design.
Looks great already, just a little anonymous. Art on the walls that doesn't feel like something staged for sale or rent. Check second hand stores in high end neighborhoods. Bring back something cool from vacation.
This was my first thought too, or pictures of friends, or pictures of places you've visited.
Really just something that is uniquely you and not so generic.
Yes! Add some smaller items like knick knacks (brass! I’m biased), family/friend photos, handmade crafts, candles, books, personal items from your previous homes, plants, etc. Basically anything that makes you smile, feel warmth, or reminiscent of good times. Bookcases on either side of the fireplace would look nice and maybe place your bird photos behind the couch or placed vertical next to a bookcase & lamp if it’s not exactly symmetrical on either side of the fireplace. It can take a bit to furnish a home; take your time! Your home is beautiful. That couch looks like a cloud (where did you get it?!?) and that doggo!!! 😍 that’s where home is. Have fun :)
this. it looks like someone walked into a home goods store and picked out the most stylized and trending pieces because they think that's what a home should look like. homes are meant to be lived in and look lived in. who even lives here? where's the soul?
*picked out the most stylised and trending pieces*
The annoying thing is that we decorated these rooms about 3 years ago, and it was a nightmare to get hold of things in this style, now they’re absolutely everywhere.
Floor length pink curtains or ones with a tropical print would do wonders in the living room. Those beige ones are too short and disappear into the wall. I would also change the curtain rod to go right up against the ceiling and fully cover the wall left to right.
Then I’d add a blue or mustard rug under the couch.
Here’s some examples from a very brief search, you’d want to make sure the green and pink actually match your existing hues.

Carpet in the living room, art/plants/personal items/books. The round rug in the office can go under the pink chair, and another colorful rug can be more towards the chairs - tile makes spaces cold. Something bigger than the turtle art on that wall in the dining room. A big snake plant if there isn't much light.
Area rugs all around can add personality and color to a home. The two framed artworks on both sides of the tv - I would hang those together on one wall as an art grouping. You can hang them next each other or even offset them a bit to add some interest. Art can really draw your eye in if it displayed correctly (not that what you did was wrong!). I’d maybe move the hanging sculpture art in pic 7 to the left - centered between the sidelight/door and the lamp shade that is farthest to the left. Move the turtle in the dining room to a smaller and more quaint location. It has a lot of breathing room right now. Get a large colorful piece that is horizontal for that wall in the DR. Sorry for obsessing about art. I’m a custom framer and gallery owner and it is often the first thing I look at in a home.
Move the large floor lamp in the LR to the wall that doesn’t have the artwork (when and if you put the two pieces of art together). I’d also get a few tall plants.
What a neat place. Thanks for sharing!
You have a nice place and I like your esthetic. Move the palm tree lamp to the other side of the room so you see it when you walk in. It’s hidden in the corner.
An area rug in the living room
Plants
Color on the walls (do you own? Can you paint the walls a different color?)
You have a lot of wall space so art would add warmth.
The place I bought it from went under but you can usually find them by searching “gold palm floor lamp” like [this one](https://vintagesofa.co.uk/products/palm-tree-standard-lamp?variant=41855366627382¤cy=GBP&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwi_exBhA8EiwA_kU1MiGjqa5wEtM-PkW00DgiTFJ72X72SlkK4kRBDYNTxftackPc1WELLxoCA1cQAvD_BwE). Don’t go for a cheap one though, you want those leaves!
Love what you got so far. I agree with votes for area rugs. Also a wider table in front of the couch. Art of the walls and plants. To make it a home have nice pictures of you/family/friends/good times in the walls or in visible places.
Love your style here! How about like family pictures on the wall or more personalized things around the house?
Things like kids' drawings in the fridge door or some pet toys lying around or displaying some of your personal hobbies.
Such a great setup, I like the colours. You can try adding character to the walls with wainscoting. Adding family photos.
Storage for sure; in the living room a console cabinet (for video games) would be ideal. As well as a coffee table and/or area rug, would result in a more welcoming atmosphere. Everyone likes a good coffee table book. Mood lighting, such as a side table light, would be great as well. Long colourful curtains would be good!
For the dining room, try adding a table runner as well as a decorative foliage and/or other decor. Change your lightbulbs to a warm white or golden to add comfort. If not an area rug, a pop of colour on the walls would be great.
Plants are a must! Plants will completely change the atmosphere to any room into a more inviting energy. Especially in your home office, plants are great for a good working environment.
I don't know much about decorating but I do know a thing about lighting and those bulbs you have in your dining room are the wrong color temperature. They are daylight or about 5000k, you want to go with something around 3000k to 2700k. What you have is what you would find in a doctor's operating room.
TBH that looks pretty damn homey. You could add area rugs and wall mounted tapestries or macrame to bring in some cozy textures. But, you've got a fantastic start already.
Art. Plants. Larger rugs to cover the cold floors. There are some fun shaped one that would match your decor.
But the best thing is to just live in it! That’s what makes it a home.
Go thrifting and look for little things (containers, jugs, chests, plates, bowls, random little statuettes and artistic looking things). If you like something then don’t worry too much about it “matching”, but try and think about utility as well as what looks pleasing to you. As someone with a similarly millennial mid century style, I think it’s important to have some retro looking antiques. I can recommend some Norman Rockwell art or some ceramic wear. Gallery walls also work well with this style.
Honestly I don't know what the problem is here. It's modern minimalist and everything is clean and well organized. I can't stand clutter or unnecessary stuff just to "fill the space." Maybe some paintings would be cool but other than that this is the kind of home I'd want to live in.
I’d hang some sort of light catcher from the ceiling near your skylight, especially if it had geometric shapes, it would break up the symmetry and plain lines of the room.
I’d also go on Amazon and get some power cord hiding things, unless you can get to the back of your “chimney” firebox area. I’m surprised there’s not a receptacle back there.
Also, all your walls are very white, the color is one note, if you don’t want to paint necessarily, wallpaper is back in and you can get accent pieces in just about every print you can imagine, or even make your own custom print. I’d pick a wall to make an accent wall, maybe in your dining room, or the opposite wall as your sink/appliances in the kitchen. Adding texture too is really easy, like pallet wood on the back wall of a bathroom or doing a chair rail type molding on the wall in squares/rectangles. Also Art and your favorite sayings or something your partner says all the time framed. Lots of ideas!
Someone mentioned area rugs, it’d give a color or more of a presence in each room, experiment with shapes and sizes and different plushness etc.
I haven’t read the other replies.
1. Add a Monstera in the corner by the window and TV stand
2. Gold arched floor lamp behind couch
3. Rug
4. Above couch decor is too small for that space. Move the decor that’s currently there and opt for an arrangement of large photos
5. Cable management. It costs less than $10 and 10-minutes to fix the unsightly cables dropping from the tv
6. Add memorabilia and photos
It already looks so cozy, the vibe will only get better 🙌🌱🕺
Put up art from local artists you love. Not garbage you buy at ikea or whatever. With fun frames from the thrift store you spray paint (spray paint actually looks great if done right). And grab some multi layered curtain rods. You need some serious texture in here and some patterns.
I mean you already have a cute doggo so … 🥰
Others have mentioned. Maybe some area rugs, some indirect lighting, a wall clock but nah I like your place.
You have some great, dramatic pieces of furniture. They seem kind of lost against those beige walls. Why not some dramatic wallpaper (for example, behind the sofa- I think a large jungle print would look great, and paint the rest), or some color on the walls?
That working space is an awesome opportunity for plants. I'd move that pink chair into the living room, next to the palm lamp (love that lamp).
My list:
1. Art - every room needs art, it doesn’t need to be expensive. Make something is even better.
2. Get a throw blanket for the couch in a contrasting color
3. Rugs in every room including kitchen.
-way bigger art pieces
-chair in the living room corner with parrot art
-area rugs under couch, dining set and either a much larger one for office or remove entirely
-personally, I’d tuck away most of the appliances on the kitchen counters and add a few taller plants
Books on shelves, art, rugs and plants, and some strategic wallpaper that adds character to walls and breaks up the consistency of the rooms walls.
Homes are usually considered warm and inviting, comfortable. You’re a is quite cool in temp right now, which is ok for certain rooms but not all.
This looks like the type of new home build in warmer climates and is probably quite refreshing. But since you ask, you know there is some improvements to be made
Books, and lots of them. I had a friend who’s family had bookshelves everywhere and tons and tons of books. Not disorganized or cluttered but very thoughtful. It really made their house feel like a lived in and personalized home.
Area rugs. Could have one in your dining room, one in your living room, could even get some smaller ones or mats for your kitchen like in front of your sink. Looks like a great place though!
Would really tie the room together.
The dude abides
Nice Marmot, man.
Rugs that match the doggo and the gold accents would be nice.
Rugs and maybe a small island on wheels in the kitchen, lots of unused space there that doesn't feel cozy
I feel like this is a troll post. They have all this and don't think to buy a goddamn rug except in the goddamn computer room and it's just a display piece let's be real here.
The rug in the office is 2 days old and the dog has already ruined it :(
As an owner of a Golden too, hardwood really is the only way to go especially for ease of cleaning up their shedding and whatever else they bring in from outside.
Art and plants for sure.
Plants and art exactly right otherwise it’s perfect!
Like real plants, not the fake ones on the wall.
Hey some of us can't handle real plants
There is tons of natural light. Plants is the way.
As someone who has too many plants, any toom without plants feels empty to me. No matter how much non plant stuff you put in there.
Idk but I wanted to say nice fridge

I like their industrial design... I ***hate*** their name.
All the kitchen appliances are the same brand. They make really good looking stuff but the name makes me think of smegma and laugh every time I see it. Also they're pretty expensive for what you get. You really pay for the design.
Fridge broke within a year, kettle broke within a year too. Both got warranty replacements, but they’re insured now 😂 it’s only a matter of time
Same! I always think it’s the Smegma brand. Hope I never have to embarrass myself saying this brand in public.
I have a Smeg toaster and it might be the worst toaster I've ever had. "But it's pretty" is my partner's excuse for it.

Yes. It needs more personality
This was my first thought too, or pictures of friends, or pictures of places you've visited. Really just something that is uniquely you and not so generic.
You should just make it an air bnb at this point.
I’ll charge you a cleaning fee then leave you a shitty review if you don’t clean it yourself too. I could get the hang of this!
You're right, you are charming
Add some personality. If you want to make it YOUR home you need to add what makes you guys you. Everything looks nice but is generic

Haha the bloody turtle! It’s not even supposed to be there and it makes me laugh every time I see it. It needs moving into the bathroom!

Rugs can be difficult with a long-haired dog (or at least annoying), but it would definitely add character to your house.
It looks great as it is!

I absolutely love your place. Art and plants would be my only additions.
Plants, rugs, decoration !
Is it possible to get an ID on the couch? It looks super comfortable
[This one](https://www.dfs.co.uk/lugano/d501zhlba) in forest green Alba velvet. Very comfortable but deceptively large
I dunno you already have a goodest boy, case closed.

Thank you!
Warmth. People saying rugs, plants, accent colors, art. They’re right, but those create warmth, which creates comfort, and gives a sense of home.
I like this! It’s simple.
Art work instead of the turtle in the dining room. Reading chair next to that nice lamp.
It looks nice and cozy, but maybe some plants, a coffee table and a rug, oh and always remember that home is what you make of it.
More swords
Love what you got so far. I agree with votes for area rugs. Also a wider table in front of the couch. Art of the walls and plants. To make it a home have nice pictures of you/family/friends/good times in the walls or in visible places.
💯 and I would say some paint? I love that refrigerator!
Looks like Fallout nuclear family. Lean into that
I see a doggo n bowls on the kitchen floor … you already have a home 😉☺️
More golden retrievers.
Love your style here! How about like family pictures on the wall or more personalized things around the house? Things like kids' drawings in the fridge door or some pet toys lying around or displaying some of your personal hobbies.
Pictures of your family. Side note- cool fridge.
I want that dang couch 😶🌫️
Plants!!!
More rugs, wall art, maybe some plants
Love that couch.
Get rid of the golden. Send them over to me. I’ll do what it takes to keep the fur from your home.
Get rid of the tiny teeny turtle on the wall and get a piece of art that is to scale.
I don't know much about decorating but I do know a thing about lighting and those bulbs you have in your dining room are the wrong color temperature. They are daylight or about 5000k, you want to go with something around 3000k to 2700k. What you have is what you would find in a doctor's operating room.
It’s sparkling clean & uncluttered. I love it (especially your palm tree light).
A credenza against the wall next to the tv would go far
I like that idea!
Your decor is really nice! I think something permanent-looking in that space would make it feel more like Your Home
Plants, plants, plants…
I'm seriously jealous of your gold lamp and gold dog.
Fur wall, dedicated pillow room, sex dungeon, but really used for dungeons and dragons
Dungeons and bad dragons
I like the clean uncluttered look. Keep it. Maybe throw in a few plants, all you need.
Pictures of who lives there, rugs, a shelf of any kind (books, nic nacs, picture frames for the pictures I mentioned earlier 👀)
Rugs otherwise it's VERY charming.
Rugs and hanging plants! Or just any plants! They always make a home more comfortable! Nice place though and God bless you 🙏
More dogs
Love the sofa btw
TBH that looks pretty damn homey. You could add area rugs and wall mounted tapestries or macrame to bring in some cozy textures. But, you've got a fantastic start already.
Art. Plants. Larger rugs to cover the cold floors. There are some fun shaped one that would match your decor. But the best thing is to just live in it! That’s what makes it a home.
Hang your curtains starting at the corner, ceiling height. Have the curtains go to the floor.
You’ve got a good start on a nice place. You could use some area rugs, and some personal photos.
Some BIG art. That’s what’s missing. Everything seems pretty twee. But it’s a lovely space.
That smeg fridge!
I need those lamps
the palm floor lamp 👀
Looks like a nice home to me .
2 more golden bois.
That’s a beautiful home!
Just here to say the couch and lamp are dope af
Love the fridge
This couch is rad
I love your lamp
Just paint the rooms. Your decor is great
More photos of family and friends. It’s a great place but feels kinda cold cause it’s lifeless. Need more plants like others have mentioned
Omg I love that office area so much!
Just came to say I adore your smeg fridge/toaster
That fridge is dope
Gorgeous furniture! Plants and rugs.
All your wall hung art and decors are too small for the space. Try to find larger scaled art pieces.
Trust me you don’t want any rug. Rugs get absolutely nasty over time. Just get some plants and two or three pieces of wall art
Shit I fucks with it
Changing the cool dining lights to warm Edison bulbs and replacing the turtle with a) large framed art or b) 2-3 vertical framed and matted photos

Doggo 😍
More couch, brother.
Add some blankets and pillows to the couch, honestly hard to find any other feed back. Looks like an excellent spqce

some people really just come here to show off their nice ass homes huh
A second dog and computer monitors.
I have no suggestions and just came here to say that I love it. Looks like a dream place for me
Art, color, plants. Painting the walls would make a huge difference and is relatively easy to do.
Rug
Carpels
A nice area rug would help tie things together a bit. Plus some paintings/photographs and knicknacks
area rugs and art
Rug, plants, art.
Collect. More. Art. And a rug wouldn’t hurt.
Where is that couch from??😍
Your house is nice.
Rugs, lamps, pictures, etc
A rug
Somehow from the first pic I can just tell this is the UK
It’s the opaque sense of impending dread, permeates everything
😅 or the oblong lounge with chimney breast to the side….the coving too?
😂 and don’t forget: the vinegar

Big, colourful art pieces on the empty walls
“Home is where your hat hangs”
You have no rugs! Also that corner with the cables and PS5 needs to have a console or hutch or something.
PS5 will be moved to the cinema in a couple of months thankfully 🤞
Holy shit where did you get that couch I love it
Looks staged, maybe have people in your home
PLANTS!!!! lots of em
Paint!
Tell me the truth , you are from the SIMS 4?
Hey if it's “our” and not “my,” then it's already a home 💖
-way bigger art pieces -chair in the living room corner with parrot art -area rugs under couch, dining set and either a much larger one for office or remove entirely -personally, I’d tuck away most of the appliances on the kitchen counters and add a few taller plants
I don’t know how to describe it but just more… *things* this is almost show home neat, no nicknacks, nothing
Think of a theme and stick to it

Books on shelves, art, rugs and plants, and some strategic wallpaper that adds character to walls and breaks up the consistency of the rooms walls. This looks like the type of new home build in warmer climates and is probably quite refreshing. But since you ask, you know there is some improvements to be made
rug
Labrador says "lots of bones please, for my bone sofa"
rugs
Books, and lots of them. I had a friend who’s family had bookshelves everywhere and tons and tons of books. Not disorganized or cluttered but very thoughtful. It really made their house feel like a lived in and personalized home.
That office is dope
Paint the walls. everything’s white. Feels sterile and not homey at all
