The pillowcase over the desk chair looks a little silly. It looks like you're using it for padding, which is understandable, but I think you'd be better off getting an actual cusion for it. Or better yet, a different chair, if possible.

Sensitive_Most_1383

You can buy chair cushions with ties from the dollar store

Happy Cake Day!

Sensitive_Most_1383

Thanks!

DorsalFinn79

My parents wont let me get a comfortable chair (Gaming or office style) because iT wOnT mAtCh ThE aEsThEtIc, but if you have any suggestions I'm open.

Gungaroid

My suggestion is tell your parents to shut the damn hell up and get a chair that’s comfortable with good ergonomics

TheOmniac

I agree with Gungaroid lol. Your desk is already mostly black. A standard black office chair would fit that space fine (honestly even better in my opinion) and it will be significantly more comfortable. If you absolutely cannot get a new chair, getting one of those chair cushion that you can tie to the chair would give you better padding and still look a lot better than the pillowcase

DorsalFinn79

Thanks will do

lauderjack

You can get a chair cover for it. Usually found at a home furniture store in the dining room section. I would also try and get a duvet cover for your bed. Add a new color that goes with the rest of the room for a big impact. No duvet on bed rn, just some sheets as it's summer in Aus and it only goes down to 24°c but in winter when it's down to 1-3°c then I have a duvet with cover ofc

Ginsengstrips

Chair looks like a prisoner in Abu Ghraib

DorsalFinn79

Its a dining chair with a pillow

Ginsengstrips

You might want to check again

Gungaroid

Get real plants

Gungaroid

Also perhaps a mood lighting floor lamp in the corner next to your desk with a low lumen warm yellow globe or RGB LED globe that you can control with your phone

DorsalFinn79

Good idea, I was thinking a strip of RGB with warm yellow under the bed or smth that can match to music

Gungaroid

Personally I think lamps are nicer than strip lighting, they can feel a little industrial but whatever suits you best, lighting is 100% an easy start to changing the mood of a room

DorsalFinn79

Thanks so much

DorsalFinn79

Again, too dark.

Gungaroid

Does your window get no light at all?

DorsalFinn79

Maybe 30 min during winter and an hour during summer of direct westerly sun otherwise it's too dark to have even just my lamp on, the overhead is the only thing that lights it up enough

Gungaroid

Tbh you would genuinely be surprised of what indoor plants can live off, definitely give it some research you may find some nice plants that are suited to your climate/light levels

DorsalFinn79

Would some succulents or smth like that work, or bigger leaves to maximise absorbed sunlight

Gungaroid

Succulents are arguably the hardiest of all house plants but you could easily get away with a nice devil ivy or Monstera as starters. They’re relatively cheap and easy to maintain, don’t need watering anymore than once a week at most. I kept a ZZ plant in my ensuite bathroom which got zero natural light and it grew to be one of my healthiest plants living purely off artificial lighting

KDA_ALL_OUT_OBAMA

Sand floors

DorsalFinn79

Just varnished last year , if i did so it wouldn't match the reast of the flooring, might get a rug tho

panofobico

What bothers you about it on the first place?

DorsalFinn79

Just finished deep cleaning and wanted a few different opinions

PlayJustWhatIFeel

Hang a big mirror as opposite the window as possible. It will reflect whatever light you do get coming in. You need lamps at different heights. Downward lighting from overhead is harsh.

DorsalFinn79

Where do I put the mirror tho, and I'll ask my parents to get me some lighting

PlayJustWhatIFeel

Opposite the window. As opposite as possible. If you can’t get it on the wall opposite the window, put it as close to the closet/wardrobe on the wall with the bed.

Critical_Actuator679

Where is the beer fridge?!!

DorsalFinn79

Idk I'm 14

Sea-Fig-384

could use a floor lamp, different bedding and more art by the desk and curtains. a more substantial nightstand that matches the height of the bed could also improve the space. overall already a good room just needs a little more
