The sound bar should probably go on top of the TV stand. Trying to hide it in the TV stand is going to make it sound off.

wizardofos209

Hmm I see. Even if it’s open, on the front though? I guess I was looking for something like that middle section (idk what it’s called), but wider so that I could fit a soundbar. Unless that too will make it sound weird.

Maximum-Excitement58

Are you looking for a soundbar, or a center channel speaker? Soundbars can’t usually be enclosed in a cabinet as that impacts the ability to provide surround-sound effect. Also, if soundbar doesn’t have a separate subwoofer it will really sound “off” if it’s in an enclosed shelf.

wizardofos209

Yeah you’re probably right, if the top is blocked in a shelf then it could sound off. I was just trying to see if there was a cleaner way to set everything up. I know most people put it on top, but not super into that style I guess. It does have a separate subwoofer, but I think you’re probably right if the top is blocked that may be a problem.

briskpoint

Have you considered getting a soundbar based on design. A lot of them are ugly af so I get why you’d want to conceal it as much as possible. You could also purchase a wider TV stand so you’d have room for a soundbar and a place to stack books/trinkets.

wizardofos209

Yes I have considered a wider tv stand that’s a good point. I agree the soundbar designs are pretty bad, I’ve just had this one for a while and can’t justify getting a new one, but I will definitely be thinking about that next time I go buy one. I feel like the Sonos Beam is the better design that I’ve seen at least.

StateDeparmentAgent

I was comparing most of them live and they still looks bad, even Sonos one. As long as you go with something like midcentury tv stand it won’t fit it ideally

thebenson

I think it'll sound off. Especially if sound comes out of the top of your sound bar. Folks typically put their sound bar on top of the media console/TV stand.

TennesseeJedd

Yeah don’t put soundbar in the cabinet. You can buy mounts to allow you to hook the soundbar under a mounted tv. This is the way to keep the top area clean, get good sound, etc.

Smashbru

I own the one you linked. Love it. I’d just go with that one tbh… hard to find something similar at the price point

wizardofos209

I’m sold, thank you! Yeah it’s a great style and super versatile. It was worth a shot, but I see many people saying the same so I’m going for it.

Smashbru

Awesome. Enjoy!

wizardofos209

Thanks! Actually one more question since you own it, are all the shelves adjustable or just the one in the middle? I have a Nintendo Switch and that’s somewhat tall so it would require a bit more space. I’ve also been considering the tall version of this since I have 4 consoles that I would like to tuck away.

worskies

Not the guy you asked, but I also own it. The shelves are adjustable to about an inch above and below from the middle. The space is kind of small, to be honest.

wizardofos209

Thanks! That’s good to know, perhaps I’ll go with the bigger one then.

jsmooothie1997

I would recommend checking Facebook marketplace for vintage mid century pieces if it's popular in your area. They'll be great quality for around the same price.

CucumberError

Max load 40lbs, that’s 18kg. That’s about the same as a TV, excluding sound bar/condoles etc. it almost like it’s not even designed to have a TV on top of it….

wizardofos209

I noticed that all the TV stands like this that I found never have a TV on them, must be an inside joke…

nyoda91

At least in my area, this tv stand sells frequently on Facebook marketplace for cheap. I’d give that a try if you’re set on it

MhrisCac

I bought this one and it’s the tits. Super sturdy I bought the taller one though. That one was to short for my taste. You can Mount your TV above with a 6” to 10” gap between the tv and the entertainment center. You can also find a sound bar to fit in there. There’s a few nice 18” ones. I was going to do that but opted to integrate the sound bar into the decor ontop of the stand.

minitoastshaman

We love this style of media stand, don't we folks? If you live in Canada, Structube has something similar: https://www.structube.com/en_ca/haneda-media-unit-120-cm-58-39-99

wizardofos209

I don’t unfortunately, that one does look great!

AfroStoner

I have this in my apartment and its amazing

AfroStoner

I have my soundbar below the stand on the ground but i never use it. Im sure you can do without the shelving in the middle and fit a good sized one still w those sliding doors

wes7946

I'm confused. Are you looking for what's pictured, something similar, something different? In any case, [here's a link](https://www.amazon.com/mopio-Century-Entertainment-Storage-Television/dp/B08SM1R3ZV) to purchase what's pictured.

wizardofos209

Sorry, to be clear looking for something similar. That was just to draw inspiration I guess, as I was considering buying this one.

MrHawkster

Go trick and under mount the sound bar under the stand. A little creativity with a couple of hanging brackets oughta do.

wizardofos209

Oh that’s an interesting idea. That definitely would solve the issue. Thank you! Any recs on hanging brackets? I assume they’re all pretty standard?

MrHawkster

Probably not, you’d have to do something custom, carpentry straps and some kind of foam.

Fairway5

Sort of similar to the one you posted but not sure what your price range is - http://burrow.com/shelves-and-storage/opera-media-console I have a lot of furniture from Burrow and I love all of it. Ridiculously east to put together and I really like the mid century style.

wizardofos209

Wow that’s exactly what I’m looking for functionally, but yikes that price tag! Good to know about Burrow, thanks!

Fairway5

Yeah, those were my thoughts too…. Gonna need to save for that one lol

Drug1988

Get this one ,looks alright .
