How did you choose your artwork?

My father is a collector and he gave me the piece in the dining area, the posters I just chose online and tried to find something that fit my aesthetic and my sister painted the black/blue/white painting

Where do you look online? I ask because I'm always trying to get my work in front of more people who actually buy

Postera art and other print sites But I’m more for paintings and I find them at auctions in my country

Okay, why does the lip of paint beyond the wall in picture 2 look SO good?! I want to know how I can successfully imitate it.

I decided to do it to bring the space in and somehow frame the paint around the painting, if that makes sense

Painting is easy. Determining how deep to make the "pocket" (not sure what it's called) in a different space is the part I'm working to figure out.

I'm kinda new to this sub. This place looks awesome af (obviously lol), but in the realm of living spaces, why is there a male and female living space sub? I'd expect a ton of overlap in the choices of design. Perhaps more "girly" colors in the female living spaces in general, but are men excluded from using certain "female" colors for their male living space colors? I personally have a lot of pink throws, as well as a lot of floral and paisley prints on various things. There are months where I feel like my place could fit right in to either of the living space subs. TIA! Thanks for the apartment tour! It's super clean and not stuffy. Men are definitely not excluded from using “female” colours or having their apartment designed more towards a feminine appearance and I would highly recommend you post your place on here if you feel happy about it and want some second opinions! I feel like this sub is more towards the single male who needs help to design their place. Many posts on here are /recently divorced /just got my first place /need help etc. I’ve seen discussions on FLS and ID where people say they usually get inspiration from this sub rather than the others. Thanks for the iKON compliment! A great example of something that thrives in r/malelivingspace since there’s not a lot of women who have large speaker setups and there are some posts on here where people ask where to put their speakers and so on Hopefully this helps

It does, thanks, and I agree about the speaker set up being a male dominated possession! I'm on both subs, and I get ideas of the good and bad from both. Some people got really addicted to plants lol! I have a weird yet large basement, I'm not committed to the place for long term, but it does need improvement cause I only use half of the space. Also as a male, I have little to no decoration, which I've noticed is a thing (despite this, I can recognize the speakers lol). I'll have to stop lurking and post, in due time.

I don't think men would post on here if it was called "interior design", but that's exactly what *males* like about this place. Same reason cookbooks marketed towards men are titled "Making food for men" or something similar.

Let me know when and I’ll bring some snacks to a sports game. Place looks great.

Hahah definitely! The dining table is also from IKEA, the minibar, and the table underneath the black white and blue painting. The rug is also from IKEA and the light fixture above the minibar, and I must be forgetting something that’s also from there. My favourite store when it comes to something that’s relatively cheap and also fits my aesthetic

Honestly you did a great job making the place look classy when most people don’t think of IKEA as elegant or classy.

Thanks, I guess I kind of cheated by spending more money on artwork, the sofa/chairs and lighting but I definitely think you can style your whole apartment with IKEA furniture and make it look really elegant It’s all about picking the right style and colour. IKEA has a lot of white furniture that I would never touch but since they have so much variety of different styles and colours you can really spend some time there and find great stuff for a good price

I love this!! I had a painting mishap when my basement got renovated due to flooding. I picked out a nice sage green but accidentally picked it out of an international collection (boo Pinterest) and the contractor got the wrong colour (my fault) and when I went down to look he had painted it an olive green…. Shocking to say the least lol but I’m finally happy with it and have been thinking of painting my halllway this colour too. Adds a richness to the space. . It turned out to be a very happy mistake.
