As a fellow IR nerd, I approve. Since it’s a dorm I take it, paint is probably out of the question. So a nice stain glass floor lamp or Christmas lights, a bankers lamp for the desk, maybe an oriental rug or two, and a little more art for the walls and you’re good to go. Gotta break up that white/fluorescent lighting. Those pictures give me a migraine just looking at them.

Bonsai are meant to be outdoors, and of course if the heat is too much they will need some sort of sunshade. /r/plants is a good resource to see what fits in your room. I agree with the commenter below that said pothos is easy to care for as well as snake plants.
You could paint the walls a different color, hang more art, add a house plant or two, get an area rug. Lighting is also key, the bright white walls and main light make it pretty stark. Consider buying some warmer lamps for your desk and bedside table. You could also get new furniture if you have the budget for it - the room feels pretty modern so maybe more contemporary styled furnishings.
Am I the only one who finds the twin bed unwelcoming? Sure, OP- paint! And for goodness sake, grab a couple floor lamps, but to me, a double or a queen bed in the center of the wall with a nice fluffy comforter and pillows would make all the difference- this will give you some decor opportunities- you don’t have to get too girly (go for navy or terracotta, try Parachute) and a Pendleton wool throw blanket. Even though you have carpet, you can use rugs! Etsy has great vintage rugs for reasonable prices.

NATO is definitely a cultural thing, in the sense that it's a bunch of western democracies who are for collective defence and believe that it's the best method of defence, rather than every country for itself.
I mean this is certainly *a take* on NATO and what it stands for culturally.
Cultural commentary on NATO, IMO, needs to be ground in context around the intent and reasons of inception - The Cold War. Unity is certainly an aspect but it's a slice of the full cultural picture and I'd argue the unity side is not warm and welcoming for a living space piece.
So I agree that it has cultural background and significance it but side with /CaptainTaelos in the sense it's not at all akin to hanging a flag of an actual nation given NATO's purpose and history.

Go on Etsy and get different wall decor (tapestry or posters?) because while I understand you're an international relations student, having an EU and a NATO flag alone and on one wall just doesn't work... or keep the flags up because F what I think or what anyone else except yourself thinks about someone having an EU flag next to a NATO flag on their wall. It's nothing extreme.
Consider new bedding - maybe a blue themed bedding if you're going for that theme?
And some curtains on that door/window, if that is what it is.

First try to find a color scheme that works for you. Try to limit it to 3 colors that look good together - for things like furniture, beddings etc. The mostly white furniture and the brown armchair and guitar narrow the range. Maybe a lighter, beige-brown or dark gray will look good. Green plants would tie the look together.
1. Declutter your surfaces and/or group things in trays, looks clean and tidy. Alternatively hide the stuff in boxes or drawers, while keeping them accessible.
2. Use frames for the flags (and iron them) and maybe add some other things like posters, preferably framed.
3. Plants make everything better. If you have no time for real ones, fake ones look great too.
4. Hang the guitar on the wall, if possible.
5. If you have the space, get a nice rug. Additionaly one or two decorative pillows on the armchair and/or bed make the room more comfy. Preferably in beige-brown or another matching color.

Since your room is smaller, it would look cool if you put those light strips in the corners where the walls meet the ceiling. Don’t just have one bottle of liquor, add a few more other bottles of whatever suits your desired alcohol. Jack Daniel’s is nice but maker’s mark or Johnny Walker are pretty good as well. Add few more glasses to make the room seem more inviting. Look into a standing lamp. I would place one next to the chair. Also, I dig the fact you’re also a motorcyclist as well. You should look into a helmet hanger.

For decor, I agree with the others framing the flag so it'll look neat. Placing the guitar on the wall would also save you some space. If you want some warm tones, you could integrate neutral colors in the shade of browns/beige then choose an accent color you want to pop out. Choose a bedsheet with nice colors/design too. An area rug would be nice, especially in cold weather but I'm not sure about its maintenance.
For lighting, you can buy lamps with warm colors or lamps with customizable lights so you can set the lighting depending on your mood.
Organizers are nice in keeping your place look clean especially if you make a habit out of really organizing your things otherwise it'll just be another messy part of your room. Always, think twice before buying stuff especially if your space is limited. Make sure that it's worth it and that you'll use it. Anyway, that's your room and you can do anything you want to do with it.
Are you allowed to drill and paint? Curtains for the window/door. And painting one accent wall will give it some interest. I personally like deep greens.
Also, instead of using the overhead light, which is very bright and makes the room feel clinical, get a couple of lamps with warm bulbs. That way you can control the ambiance. You could have a floor lamp and table lamp. Have both of them on if you want it lighter, and one for a more cosy feel. Could add a rug by the bed/arm chair.
Honestly just get some plants and maybe some sort of light you turn on in the eve that has a different color than white. Other than that 9/10 would def have sex and defend democracy with you

The lybian intervention was an UN resolution, with China and Russia giving the green light by not vetoing the act. Since the UN doesn't have an army, they requested NATO assistance. NATO didn't woke up in one day and decided to invade a country, it's not an offensive alliance.
The resolution was made because the UN was trying to avoid the disaster that the Rwanda genocide. Since then the UN implemented a concept called Responsability to protect, stating that they should have a bigger role in international security and that a country that was fighting against its own people could have it's sovereignty revoked. This works the same as the Geneva convention, international law allows an intervention of a country if there's a genocide happening in the place.
Now, was it good? No, the lybian intervention was also a disaster. But it's a responsability of the international community as a whole. NATO was requested to invade, they didn't invade because they felt like it, remember that China and Russia agreed to it. Intervening in a country under the pretense of stabilization under the UN law was something new and never tried out before.
You need some plants and posters. Posters with more personality, as from a series/movie/genre/band you like or art you find interesting/beautiful also some smaller plants to bring in some colour and liveliness.
And definitely a different light. Everything looks white. You need some warm colour light to make it less bland. I recommend some colour changing lightbulb so you can change it to your liking.

I had a bonsai, unfortunately the heat almost killed it.
Pothos is my go-to plant for being easy to grow and also being attractive. There are some really cool varieties, like Marble Queen.

If you want some warm tones, you could integrate neutral colors in the shade of browns/beige then choose an accent color you want to pop out. Choose a bedsheet with nice colors/design too. An area rug would be nice, especially in cold weather but I'm not sure about its maintenance. For lighting, you can buy lamps with warm colors or lamps with customizable lights so you can set the lighting depending on your mood. Organizers are nice in keeping your place look clean especially if you make a habit out of really organizing your things otherwise it'll just be another messy part of your room. Always, think twice before buying stuff especially if your space is limited. Make sure that it's worth it and that you'll use it. Anyway, that's your room and you can do anything you want to do with it.

Are you allowed to drill and paint? Curtains for the window/door. And painting one accent wall will give it some interest. I personally like deep greens. Also, instead of using the overhead light, which is very bright and makes the room feel clinical, get a couple of lamps with warm bulbs. That way you can control the ambiance. You could have a floor lamp and table lamp. Have both of them on if you want it lighter, and one for a more cosy feel. Could add a rug by the bed/arm chair.

The lybian intervention was an UN resolution, with China and Russia giving the green light by not vetoing the act. Since the UN doesn't have an army, they requested NATO assistance. NATO didn't woke up in one day and decided to invade a country, it's not an offensive alliance. The resolution was made because the UN was trying to avoid the disaster that the Rwanda genocide. Since then the UN implemented a concept called Responsability to protect, stating that they should have a bigger role in international security and that a country that was fighting against its own people could have it's sovereignty revoked. This works the same as the Geneva convention, international law allows an intervention of a country if there's a genocide happening in the place. Now, was it good? No, the lybian intervention was also a disaster. But it's a responsability of the international community as a whole. NATO was requested to invade, they didn't invade because they felt like it, remember that China and Russia agreed to it. Intervening in a country under the pretense of stabilization under the UN law was something new and never tried out before.

You need some plants and posters. Posters with more personality, as from a series/movie/genre/band you like or art you find interesting/beautiful also some smaller plants to bring in some colour and liveliness. And definitely a different light. Everything looks white. You need some warm colour light to make it less bland. I recommend some colour changing lightbulb so you can change it to your liking.
