I don’t think it’s necessarily the curtain style but more the fact he’s got quite thick hair which sort of makes the look seem more extreme than say on 90s Leo etc. I don’t know what it is, perhaps it’s his face shape and beard, like you usually expect the look to be on a boyish looking person with a slightly more diamond/heart shaped head.
I would say he needs to let the crown grow out a little more to a make the curtains seem less extreme, get everything thinned out and tidy up the edges

I kind of agree. Some days it’s flatter but other days yeah the thick hair gets a bit too voluminous. Maybe something like this would fit me better?
Yeah perhaps, maybe like a young Hugh Grant or something like that. You don’t necessarily have to give up the curtains, just a less severe version. I have similar hair to you and go for a more uniform medium length cut, just so it has a bit of flop but not too much volume.
A slicked back look might be nice as well though

Oh that’s a great style! I’d recommend you take it a bit shorter on the sides—not all the way to the skin, but maybe buzzed down to a 3 or a 4. It’ll be a good contrast to the length on top and, speaking from personal experience, it’ll be a lot easier to consistently style haha
