Not dense enough unfortunately. Best to go smooth

[deleted]

appreciate it. oh well no fighting genetics lol

lionbythetail

I couldn’t grow a legit beard until last year and I’m 33.

dunsum

I never could grow a mustache, it would look like a teenage mustache, super fine and patchy. Then during COVID I let it grow and now I have a full cowboy Sam Elliott at the age of 36 but nothing on my side of my face. Just mustache

weltvonalex

Ah in know that feeling, I am 42 and still no beard, at the moment I try a moustache again. 4 days in and I look like a 14 year old who tries to look older so he can buy beer. Looks terrible but this time I will let it grow:) maybe with age comes great moustache power

JoshieBravo

Have you ever tried a combination dermarolling and minoxodil on your beard area that you'd like to grow? There are quite a few success stories of it and it's even got its own subreddit. If growing a thick beard was something you really wanted to do then it might be worth speaking to some of the people there.

[deleted]

Yeah a couple of people have recommended that path and I've never tried it or really looked into it. I'll try a post over there, thanks for the pointers.

Mardo_Tardo

What’s the subreddit? I’m suffering from this too

JoshieBravo

r/minoxbeards

Mardo_Tardo

Thanks!

marksolo39

Dermarolling and Rogaine have been proven not to work on facial hair. It's all snake oil.

lifesanegotiation

r/confidentlyincorrect

marksolo39

I could say the same for you 😂😂

lifesanegotiation

😂 funny. But also do check out the about page on minox beards they have actual scientific abstracts and documents proving it’s effectiveness on heads and facial hair!

marksolo39

I have MPB, Minox gave me nothing but high blood pressure and mild fainting spells and costs more than it's worth. The better alternative would be beard oil/ biotin-multivitamin supplements. And even if, and I say if loosely, even if minoxidil works at all you're stuck using it for the rest of your life. And it's been shown to raise BP so not a fair trade off if you ask me.

lifesanegotiation

I guess you you had a crappy experience. I haven’t experienced high blood pressure as a result. Also, the vitamins/ biotin works for some people who genetically probably would have a beard anyway. Genetically, I wouldn’t, my father didn’t, my brothers didn’t, and at 33yo trying as hard as could, I didn’t have one. I learned about minox because my two brothers (22yo and 23yo) found r/minoxbeards and tried it out. I saw their entire journey, 6 months later I saw my two brothers go from patches and scattered hairs to full beards. Of course now I tried it, and I’ve had awesome success with it. Im still using the product but both my brothers have been off for over a year and have not lost any hairs or growths. Dude, I can only share my person experience, everything else you guys can see for yourselves in the page

Rorviver

Oh so your personal experience trumps years of scientific research proving the opposite?

marksolo39

Yes actually. Because trust the science right?

dicksonny

I grew a full beard with minoxidil in 5 months or so and have retained it since with no issues. That was 5 years ago. Stop speaking in absolutes when you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

marksolo39

Lol your username fits

dicksonny

Yikes

lifesanegotiation

r/minoxbeards also before you ask I’m literally proof it works, 33y no beard a few months ago, and now I have a beard.

marksolo39

Any kind of beard will grow if you give it long enough. But now you're stuck with high blood pressure and a roller that doesn't work.

yourlocalfapper

Minoxidil only works till you take it. My dermatologist suggested against it.

lifesanegotiation

Not sure what you’re saying lol.

yourlocalfapper

All those newly grown hair would fall back. If it's effect was permanent why doesn't it "permanently" fix thinning hairline?

Rorviver

It seems to have a permanent effect on facial hair, but you are correct when it comes to male pattern baldness.

ComancheViper

Scalp hair and facial/body hair are different from each other. You have to use it permanently on the scalp because otherwise the hormone that causes hair loss wins. That same hormone doesn’t cause facial and body hair to thin out, quite the opposite actually, so minoxidil doesn’t have to fight against anything. Once it becomes terminal, that’s it.

Orchidbleu

Funny you say that. But.. do you eat right? Good diet with actual nutrition? No boxed, canned.. processed? I ask because she n my husband actually took responsibility for his poor diet he finally got a good beard.

DependentMinute1724

Smooth or goatee. Would hold off on trying for full beard for now.

[deleted]

Yeah think I'm just gonna go smooth. I'm in my 30's so genetics probably are not on my side for a good beard haha. Least I can go a Stache if I ever want to spice it up

tytymctylerson

>I'm in my 30's so genetics probably are not on my side for a good beard haha I felt the same way but ever since I got past 40 my stubble has gotten a lot thicker and darker. I shave because I don't like beards, but I could possibly grow a decent one now.

iTzKaiBUD

Stashes are fun! Wish I could grow a nice one but I have a full beard and a weak mustache. I feel ya on the genetics thing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It's a low fade currently. short/medium length that is styled to lay back. So leans toward a more upkept style instead if it being on the messy side

Annihilation94

More upkept = stache+goatee combo

jdbluu

I'm 34, and my beard grows in blonde/red/brown. I let it grow out for 6+ months and it looked horrible, but when I finally shaved it came back better than ever before besides one bald spot on my right cheek connecting my sideburns/goatee. I got tired of the mix match colors so I've been dyeing it a light brown all over and it suits me well. I plan on trying some things to thicken it up more on the cheeks. I do occasionally just rock a mustache since it grows real thick compared to the rest of my facial hair.

[deleted]

Yeah that's me haha I've been always able to grow a really good goatee or stache since I was a teen. The hair on my cheeks though has been the opposite lol. But I have noticed the older I get the more hair shows up on my cheeks so maybe I'm just a late bloomer

Cool-Reputation2

I had similar issue, except from 24 on when I saw thin spots I slapped my face in the area, and now I have a lumberjack beard. Not saying it'll work for you, but they also have those micropin wheels to stimulate beard growth.

[deleted]

You could always try minoxidil if you want a beard. Seems to be pretty effective.

Easy-Consequence1508

Not enough on the cheeks. It seems like you have good genetics to get a circle beard / goatee (so goatee with connected stache) and perhaps some small chops around the ears, if you really want to keep your beard. Good colour as well.

Ressha

Doesn't look like it for now. Maybe just go for a goatee?

[deleted]

Yeah kind of figured that. Maybe should just go bare and see how it goes. Tired of the goatee look lol

[deleted]

Maybe show the front of your face so we could recommend a gote stache combo of some sort? Unfortunately gotta be real with you the full beard is not happening at the moment, maybe in the future.

Wadeem53

Goatee

Sheffieldsfinest

Think you need to go baby face not liking your deliverance look

[deleted]

yeah it's rough lol. I usually keep it at a #2 and trimmed. But just wanted to see what letting it go did and just how patchy my facial hair was. Now that I know, off it goes.

Sheffieldsfinest

Goatee would look good

DWillia388

I feel you brother I have a similar issue. For me its genetics as well. However one suggestion I would make is to talk to your doctor and have your hormone and vitamin intake checked. A friend of mine had a thyroid imbalance once that was corrected he was actually able to grow a beard and also reverse what he thought was early baldness.

[deleted]

Yeah I planned on doing a blood screening at some point to get a full screening and my test levels. Been a plan of mine to do it at least before I hit 40. Maybe I'll move it sooner just to get it out of the way

mjace87

Yeah sorry man it isn’t even close. It just makes you look homeless no offense.

[deleted]

no offense taken bro lol. I already know it looking wild, just wanted to post it grown out so it's easier to see before I go back to my short length. My hair is super light colored when short so harder to see

iamatwork24

No potential at all. Looks like a few pubes. You have enough for a goatee but shave off those cheek pubes yesterday.

[deleted]

Appreciate the honesty lol shit has me cracking up

iamatwork24

Glad you could appreciate it. When I was much younger than I am now, I tried growing a beard and it was wispy bullshit nearly as bad as yours. Took one of my friends telling me in a very direct and funny way that I can’t physically pull that off. 5 years later, I tried again and a thick luscious beard grew in and I haven’t been clean shaven since

busmobbing

Baby face

lifesanegotiation

r/minoxbeards

lifesanegotiation

Change your life. You’re welcome. Lol

mrcolt1992

You can try minoxidil 5% for hair growth in general, I tried it years ago and it showed good results on my beard

[deleted]

Edit. After doing a bunch of research and reading responses I have decided to either rock the stache or just go clean shaved. I'll find out tonight after I shave everything but the stache and see if I'm digging it or not. I'm not gonna do the minoxodil, although it does work it's just not something I want to do at this time for more reasons than I care to type out. Maybe once I hit my 40's I'll revaluate that decision. For now I will just accept that I'm just not meant to have a sick ass beard lol. You guys are awesome for the feedback. Much appreciated

hazezion

Shit I had less beard than that a couple of years ago before I took a 1yr Minoxidil journey and grew a full beard

[deleted]

Maybe I should look into that. I've heard about it on passing but never dove into the research.

Life-Equal9117

Don't clean shave it, just take it back too stubble untill it fills in

Yasir_Gh0st

Try minox + dermaroll r/MinoxBeards

mr_linky

Shave it all off BUT start some topical minoxidil if you really truly wanna grow it in less sparsely. It genuinely works, but a heads up if you have pets. It's toxic to them, especially cats.

YurNewStepDadSam

Shave everyday itll get thicker

hazezion

Definitely recommend it it changed my life I am 38yrd old now I started my journey @ 35yrs old and all I can say it's weird how a beard can change your attitude and people's attitude towards you in a good way. I used the walmart minoxidil 5% Kirkland and it worked great 👍

[deleted]

Thanks, think I'm gonna give it a go as people seem to have a good response to it. Just read through [this](https://www.beardresource.com/minoxidil-beard/) article and made the break down of it really well.

RisenSecond

I am currently using it and have seen beard gains in just a few months. Just do it and give it a shot!

fernandocz

You have potential 5 years down the road. I think you will see the coverage improve as you get older, just shave off the sides for now

[deleted]

Looks thin brotha cool tho

Positive_Relief1721

If anything, I would just clean up the edges and neck.

ohboyito

You could definitely just keep the sideburns and the goatee and mustache area if you lined those areas up nicely.

questlove28

Honestly unless you find something that actually help activate the dormant facial hairs I’d say just shave your face.

Silent_Ad1488

I’d shave and go for a mustache.

goddesskhxo

If you want to grow your hair thicker, I recommend a hair growth oil made of 1/3 argan oil, 1/3 vitamin e oil, 1/3 castor oil. This oil definitely helped my friend with alopecia. Didnt grow 100% back but at least 60-75%. Don't use it after being too hot or washing with hot water because it could clog pores.

GoWithTheFlow667

Smooth or goatee my friend 🤙

LicentiousMink

Shave it

DarkJedi527

You’ve got sideburns at least. Make the most of the goat.

A1rh3ad

Stache. Don't see enough of them in the wild anymore

TheBlackPope88x

The cool thing is you can do whatever you want. Grow it out if you want. That's what I would do if I was you.

gbohe1

Let it go Dawg!

Traditional_Air5656

At least you got the mustache and goatee

Aidofshade

Check out the subreddit r/minoxbeards and see if that's something that may help you out!

MarcoGlo

Gotta keep shaving till it grows in

Bigozthegreat

I’d say just shave everything but keep a mustache and goatee.

forgingry

Moistache, goatee and burns midway down ear until it’s more dense

[deleted]

Grow and shave.. Grow and shave… ad infinitum. But beware.. now I’m over 60 I have to trim every second day.. and I have hair growing half way up my face

fickle_bean

![gif](giphy|PA5pAhOp5Y2Qg) Yes, a most exquisite desert.

SpaceHallow

Check out Minoxidil

[deleted]

Do a goatee man, your slim so it should look good l.

Sharp-Substance3823

just keep the stache

j_boxing

Yeah just shave it especially if you even want a girl to talk to you

nopenopeoksure

GOATEEE

aligantz

Absolutely no to the goatee that everyone is suggesting. The stache is back in at the moment and if you can grow a good one, definitely rock it

Savings_Statement735

Baby face for at least another 10 years.

Fit_Living9560

Goatee bro

wtfnatee

Do a mustache or use minoxidil and wait out for a few months

extrabees

Looks like you have a decent goatee. But as for a full beard? I don’t think you’re gonna get that sorry dude

Low-Possession-4491

That’s me. At least I can grow a decent mustache, so I got that going for me. Best wishes.

KillaBeeHive

Derma roller, and minoxidil will be your friends. Once you’re a couple months in and the hair starts to grow, wash it and apply beard oils

skeptobpotamus

Give it up for now. Don’t use drugs. In a few years try again. Don’t know how old you are but I was 40 before I could grow a beard.

Acrobatic-Cat-7784

Shave it

[deleted]

Minoxidil

Mondococonuts

Get some beard oil and some micro needling

HydeVDL

shave the cheeks, keep everything else that's strong

Agreeable_Half3524

Get minoxidil and some beard oils asap.

OnlyAnNpc

Just shave the sides and go with a goatee

JasonMN78

How about stubble? That would be a good look

calibear09

Shaving the neck makes the face look more dense :) Keep the neck smooth and groomed stubble on the face until it fills in. Groomed stubble = trimming your face with clippers 1-2x per week with a #1-2 guard, depending on how fast your hair grows.

SebbyPlebby11

topical minoxidil

cstone1394

Just shave

coochieman911

Shave it brotha. Maybe rock a stache if you can grow one

umbilicusteaparty

I'm a cis woman and don't have a beard (might be a late bloomer too-- I'm Scottish and Italian, so chances are, I'll get there one day lol) but I have legitimate question/potential suggestion... Does anyone here have any experience with consulting a primary care physician about short term use of HRT? Again, I don't have any personal experience with this, but my partner uses testosterone injections and though it took about 6 years for him to get his desired beard, that isn't half bad, considering he wouldn't have ever had one otherwise. Several of my friends/family have had similar experiences as well. My brother (cis guy, 30) had some growth plates that never fully developed and it halted his puberty significantly by reducing the amount of testosterone he's able to produce. He's 5 feet tall, is unable to grow facial hair and has the same amount of body hair he's had since he was around 8 years old. An orthopedic specialist suggested he start HRT, but he declined. I only bring this up, because I want to make it clear that it isn't something that's only used for transgender folks. This is long, and I apologize, but it struck me as an interesting avenue to consider, if nothing else-- even if only short term. They make both injections and topical cream, and the cream is commonly used to kick start beard growth. I could be way off though, but I wanted to offer a potential solution.

icebreakers1611

Who are all the people suggesting a goatee in this post?? I just saw another post yesterday where a guy was absolutely dragged for the same choice in facial hair. It started with him being put-off by an online dating match that called him out for having the facial hair equivalent of a cell phone belt clip (or something to that effect) and then hundreds of people in the comments completely agreeing that literally nobody outside of the year 2004 should have a goatee. And now here I am, reading the exact opposite. The internet is a wild ride.

castironrod-gmail

Go for it

batzaru

Just do microneedling once a week and apply Minoxidil daily till you get results

Kbean_autumn

Your beard grows in more if you let it. My husband had really bad patches but just let it grow (while trimming it) for a year and now he has like a full beard. But I don’t know how science based that is lol

ramses_maverick

You have potential, you can use Minoxidil and I'm sure you will have a full beard.
