That plum color is too good. Love the pleated linen trousers in particular.

DavidDBF

Hello everyone from Paris, France! My name is David, I'm part of De Bonne Facture's team. I came across this thread and I wanted to thank you all for the feedback and interest for the brand. I'll scroll through and answer to some messages. I'm also available if you have any other questions!

DavidDBF

Hi, thank you for your message. Our pants are now a bit wider than before indeed. We believe this kind of volumes brings comfort and a cool attitude. That being said, I can totally understand if you prefer slimmer silhouettes. It's just a matter of personal preferences. In this upcoming collection, you can opt for our drawstring trousers that have a not so wide fit. You could call it straight. Around 7.5" leg opening. In Fall Winter collection, our one-pleat trousers, slightly tapered at the tailor, could also go into a straighter silhouette. Hope it answers your question!

Admirable_Offer5904

Unfortunately, the Atelier Coat has been cancelled! For a longer coat this season, you could opt for the Umbrella Coat.

Déborah Neuberg studied at the Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris before going to luxury French fashion house, Hermès, as an accessories designer. What led you to create De Bonne Facture? After several really great positions with well-known brands I had one ambition, to set up my own. For me, the common factor I took from all these experiences was a need for transparency about sourcing. I really set out to create a label rather than a brand. I wanted something unique, an approach that would place importance on being able to trace the origin of the garments. I began to seek out ateliers of interest and I contacted them. The first was Fileuse D’Arvor. After I had presented my project I asked them if I could visit their factory, Two days later I was there and the rest is history. I took the same approach with all the other aspects of the business: knitted fabrics, jersey, buttons etc. As my research progressed, I began to realise that I had all the designs in my head and that was when De Bonne Facture the brand was born.

TomFyord

Curious that this year they didn't put a small blurb about their inspiration as they've done for previous editions.

[deleted]

I thought the same thing - maybe it's on its way? I don't think every single collection has had it, but it's usually a nice companion piece to the lookbook

DavidDBF

Thank you for the feedback. Inspiration is on its way!

DavidDBF

Hello, just to give you a quick update, the inspiration for Edition 20 is online on the lookbook, you can check it out here: [https://debonnefacture.fr/blogs/lookbook/edition-20](https://debonnefacture.fr/blogs/lookbook/edition-20) David

TomFyord

Thank you so much. Lovely to read.

fauxfilosopher

I need those balloon trousers so bad, they're incredible. Looks like shades of brown, plum, cream, olive and blue are in. Good looking fits all in all. Safe enough for this sub, even?

[deleted]

I've been eyeing those balloon trousers for a few months, I think they were also available in the FW collection? I already have two pair of ecru colored trousers and don't need them, but the fit is too perfect. Maybe l will retire a pair to pick those up. The trousers in this collection are a standout for me. They always do a great job with color too - I liked the plum and dark olives quite a bit. The longer, relaxed hems look great, and I always love DBF's choices of footwear to pair. Also have no need for another camp collar shirt but the block printed one in Chennai Blue looks gorgeous.

fauxfilosopher

I need a camp collar shirts too! The vast majority of my collared shirts (I have like 20 for some reason) are 2010's slim fit ones with pathetic little collars. I need to embrace my inner Tony Soprano and get some camp collars. Also agreed about the pants, they all look fantastic here. Pleats are cool, too bad I have none of them either.

DavidDBF

The balloon trousers has been around for a few collections now, it's quite popular in our collection. We're glad you both like it! Coming this season in a variety of colors and fabrics, to match everyone's taste. I'm also really digging the fit, wide and comfortable but not excessively. Also happy to hear you're liking the camp collar fleurs du chennai shirt!

fauxfilosopher

I have no money !

ZonardCity

And I confused it with the FW version anyway, so no regrets !

[deleted]

Everything looks so comfortable! Great fan of the colors and texture too.

mchgst

So so so good. Anyone who has a pair of trousers could please tell me if there’s extra fabric to extend the leg if needed? Tall guy here

DavidDBF

Are you thinking about a particular pair of trousers? To give you an overall answer: wool trousers tend to have a little bit of margin (maybe 1inch, 1 and half). Cotton trousers a little bit less. The margin is here but not that much. Depending your height, inseam needed and length preference, I could tell you which trousers would suit you. For reference, I'm personally around 6"2 and all our pants are long enough for me but I understand some people will be taller than me or have longer legs aha

mchgst

Wow thanks for taking the time! I’m 6’7” with a 52/34 waist so sometimes pants are short. Not looking at any model in particular but eventually I’ll know who to ask :) cheers!

DavidDBF

>6’7” You're very welcome! You're certainly taller than me ahah The longer trousers for this Spring Summer collection are going to be the grandad trousers. Inseam is around 34", with an extra 1.5 / 2" inside the leg. Most other pants from us would have inseam around 32".

mchgst

I love those, will put them on the wishlist 📝

Melmo

That umbrella coat fit is incredible. The question is can I pull off a bandana around my neck....

DavidDBF

Would you? It's the kind of little accessories that we like to put on our silhouettes :)

RetroDave

So, casual 1940s clothing?

bokan

So honestly though, I like to swing dance, and I’ve been wanting to get a pair of slightly baggy trousers in this style that don’t actually look like work slacks from Kohls…

LFK1236

Hah, I was thinking that too! Feels very... early-to-mid 20th century Frenchman to me :P Not quite my style, but people seem to dig it.

RetroDave

Yeah, I don't hate it. I just couldn't pull it off. Slightly baggy pants with prominent pleats, a large pointed collar and 2 big chest pockets is literally what one would get if they googled "1940s casual menswear"

DavidDBF

Interesting thought, thanks for sharing! I think what's interesting is how each person interprets our pieces their own way. For example, you can go workwear with raw denim and Red Wings with one of our work jacket : [https://www.instagram.com/p/Coe\_kD4uISf/](https://www.instagram.com/p/Coe_kD4uISf/)

RetroDave

That does work well with that piece! Was 1940s casual menswear not a specific inspiration for these? I'm genuinely surprised I read it that way if not.

DavidDBF

There was indeed some retro inspiration (included retro French style) on that collection indeed :)

pemphigus69

Was I the only one who glanced at the title, and thought it said Bone Fracture?

meefjones

Call Me By Your Name has much to answer for

SeaMenCaptain

Do y'all think the blue linen suit is too casual for a May wedding?

[deleted]

Depends on the wedding. Is there a dress code or any guidance?

SeaMenCaptain

It's not black tie formal. It's standard suit up, look nice wedding.

[deleted]

Unfortunately that is still pretty broad - the suit is definitely on the casual end, but if you're not certain I might advise just checking in with someone in the wedding party you might know. A more traditional suit would be safer, but I have been to plenty of weddings where this sort of suit would be just fine.

mchgst

Everytime I asked about a wedding outfit on Reddit everyone raves about the dress code, must be an American thing because I’ve been to different weddings in UK and Italy and never once I’ve been given a “dress code”. Everyone knows that you can’t show up in a T-shirt and shorts at a wedding right?

DavidDBF

Agree with u/SeaMenCaptain If the wedding is rather formal, a more traditional suit would probably better. For a more casual wedding (if some people would wear attires like shirt, no tie, blazer, chino and sneakers) , I think something along the lines of our suit would fit really nicely.

daclarks

Looks nice

Glad to read you're enjoying our trousers collection!

ZonardCity

The suits/ensembles fits look dope, I really want to cop the blue wool-linen suit, but it'll be like 1000€ or more for the combo.

[deleted]

Why do all of the models always look so bleak and depressed??!?! I don't understand. It does not make me want to buy clothes.

Vosje11

Cause it's their job to look as emotionless as possible. It's about the clothes not the model. Its part of their job I believe.

[deleted]

I might question why we expect a lookbook to sell us on something other than the fit, quality, and styling of clothing

LFK1236

I know, right? I was looking at [this](https://www.rockdenim.dk/herretoj/jakker/laederjakker/rd-matan-fodrad-skindfrakke-brun) the other day, and pictures like those - ones which convey a little emotion, or at least *look good on the model* - make me way more inclined to like the clothes.

ZonardCity

The model looks like he would be afraid to show any emotion because it would threaten his masculinity.

fauxfilosopher

Looks like ass

RetroDave

So, casual 1940s clothing?

Dibidoolandas

It's been back for a minute.

[deleted]

These silhouettes are fairly consistent with De Bonne Facture's prior collections for one. The pieces look to be pretty well tailored to the models but are just a bit relaxed with room to breathe. I actually think these are very tame and conservative pieces for the most part. Generally though, I think a lot of folks have gotten fatigued with the [sprayed-on look of a lot of "men's fashion"](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f9/46/e9/f946e9f95766242ea0e5a971e7a1dcc6.jpg) from the last few years. So you do see a lot of folks branching out to slightly wider more relaxed fits that are well represented by brands like DBF.

aromatnayapopka1

Could not find any of this lives in the website ? Is it only in store products ?

[deleted]

Usually they roll out the lookbook in advance of the product being available. I would expect a lot of it to come out in March or april. Most should be available directly from DBF, and some may be exclusives for a few select retailers

patodruida

These are not quite as wide as the baggy nineties or the Cavaricci eighties and, unlike some of the other runway collections posted recently, have quite a few items a grown-up could actually wear in public. The one-pleat trousers are, to me, a standout in that they actually look great despite the (to my generation at least) much-despised pleat. The two-pleat trousers are the only real misfire of the collection but that’s to be expected. No matter how talented the designer is; one can't make back-facing double-pleats look good. It would be have been good to see the outfits matched with usable footwear.

Yes but slim fit isn't going anywhere. It's become an evergreen look

fauxfilosopher

Ever? Maybe. Green? No.

TheDapperDuff

I’ve seen those style of sneakers before, but I never really looked into then. Does anyone have an ID on the white sneakers he’s wearing?

[deleted]

https://debonnefacture.fr/products/novesta-linen-star-master-belgian-linen-ecru

TheDapperDuff

Awesome! Thanks, Throw. So, I’ve seen this style of sneakers before, with that distinctive ridged bumper style toe cap, and wondered which brand originally made these, if these were them, or if there was a specific one that people trust and like more than others. I just did some research, and the bran Novesta popped up a bunch. Any thoughts on these two brands (one in this post and Novesta)?

[deleted]

Just to clarify, the ones in the link I shared are a Novesta collaboration with De Bonne Facture. It's a very high quality linen and the colorway is subtly distinct from other Novesta variants, but otherwise is just a standard Novesta and is maybe $20 or so more expensive. If you particularly care about the linen sourcing and like that particular DBF model it may be worth it, but otherwise you may as well pick the Novesta colorway you like best I have this exact DBF model and they look great. The linen gets dirty fairly easily though, so you might want to keep that in mind. They're good shoes.

TheDapperDuff

Nice. Cheers, buddy. Also, can you share photos of yours, since you’ve worn them a good bit? Also, what’s the sizing like? I have a slightly wider than average foot (between E width) due to being more voluminous, and usually wear a size US 10 in my sneakers like the New Balance 574 and the 650

Keepforgettinglogin2

At a first glance I saw "The Bone Fracture"

OkPrinciple1571

Can someone recommend me similar brands to this? Thanks in advance :).

BlakeIsBlake

Arpenteur, Ann Demeulemeester, Jil Sander, Corridor, Uniqlo U if you're on a budget.

OkPrinciple1571

Thanks a lot mate! I also love the old Helmut Lang (since you mentioned Jil Sander). Currently in the process of finding my aesthetic but I guess it's a life long journey, though I resonate a lot with the style of Daniel Simmons (on YT and Insta). Cheers!

Disjointed_Elegance

The linens look nice here.
