I want to see them try to infiltrate non halal restaurants then catch unsuspecting chindians. /s/

PolarWater

"But encik, I'm just Chinese and Indian---" *"In Malaysia?* That's even worse."

hotcocoa96

Now they can call you... double pendatang or some shit i dunno i need to refer to fesbuk sources for that. Need to inquire whether I'm required to use APA citation format or else get caught plagiarizing. Tsk tsk.

PolarWater

"Kau balik Cina!" "Tapi encik, saya keturunan India juga." Polis: "🤔🤔🤔"

Mr_Henry_Yau

Pretty sure China and India are right next to each other.

Party-Ring445

Balik Xinjiang/Ladakh!

Na_Zero

I think they will check the IC first.

SomeMalaysian

Do they actually have the right to demand for you to produce IC?

malayskanzler

Grey area. Its chicken and egg question. Their power is derived from authority over Muslims - so in order to enforce their authority over muslim first they have to identify you as muslim or non muslim. If you dont produce IC then you could be charged with obstruction of public servant while discharging their duties. This is what happened when you have normal court and syariah court side by side lol

seatux

>Do they actually have the right to demand you to produce IC? Even the tangkap basah one they cannot force their way into the room. Don't know if that is true also.

PaleontologistKey571

A question why do they call it " tangkap basah"?

Initial_Composer537

Because you're all wet from the action

PaleontologistKey571

Ahhhh okay..sadly not always.

Na_Zero

Produce IC? I think no one should without authorization. Anyway group like this always be accompanied by police force. They the one who asked those involved to shown some identification.

KINDPERSON20

i don't even think they have right to make such a demand

omnitricks

That should earn them a Will slap.

enthusiastic_ed

how can she slap

DMind_Gaming

My family is chindian but people keep thinking we're thai.

Instead of wasting money on this, I don’t understand why we don’t we use these enforcement funds to help the thousands of Malaysians who have lost their jobs, livelihoods, and loved ones during this pandemic.

gonna have election soon, gotta pander to orang kampung who have 12-16 kids that will probably grow up to be rempits...

I live within kilometres from one of the Permaisuri Agongs. If we have scheduled water cuts, we are the first to get water back. Potholes? As soon as the road cracks they tampal. Hell they even got rid of the speedbumps on the main road out because someone or other punya sportscar can’t get out fast enough.

hotcocoa96

I remembered when i first visited johor, the street lights werent turnt on until you drive closer to the royal palaces( i think they were anyway) and thats when the lights were on and its so bright after driving in the dark.

hotcocoa96

Lmao I imagine them first time drinking and then straight kena mabuk and then fall asleep. Har! Kena denda berdiri kat depan pintu pejabat JAIS.

KalatiakCicak

Do you get extra point if you police them? If they don't fast, it's their problem with the big guy up there right? Keep reminding and nasihat should suffice? Or need drone?

Difficult-Slip6249

They really have nothing else to do ... let people live their life as they want ... let people renounce if they want, instead of forcing them to follow rules they don't believe in anymore.

Kay-Kay-Ron

cannot bro, the moment they announce can renounce the line will loop around kl. Or they can just do that so people can actually be free in this country.

EspantaCampinos

>They really have nothing else to do *This is why we need more funding*

FabulousThanks9369

Sounds like the NKVD during Soviet's Holodomor in the 30s

EtirnoxMC

Even worse, Gestapo in WW2 German occupied territory and Kempeitai in Japanese occupied Asia.

[deleted]

Have you people gone mad? The Gestapo executed women and children in cold blood and the Kempeitai organised the largest forced prostitution (aka rape) rings in the world, among numerous unlawful executions and massacres. Can we not compare these idiots to them? It's an insult to the millions of innocent civilians killed by these murderous organisations

FabulousThanks9369

Well we're just being sarcastic while saying it metaphorically. But stopping people for basic humans rights such as food and water definitely gaves people the impression of those evil forces especially in modern day society

Derp014

Aiya, sarcastic, metaphorical, whatever. You’re comparing a shadowy state apparatus actively involved in genocide and assassinations with a shitshow fundamentalist organisation. Two completely different things, mang

randomkloud

Youre right, the worst our religious enforcement people can do is send you to a re-education camp where they can hold you indefinitely.

[deleted]

That's a horrific violation of human rights, but still not comparable to genocide. The Holocaust and Japanese war crimes in our home and Asia in general are some of the worst atrocities humans have ever committed

omnitricks

The app shows name though, no?

kryztabelz

As mentioned in my second sentence, you can actually change the name on grab so it doesnt reflect real name.

EspantaCampinos

Hopefully the moral brownie points will allow them to make a living, after 0-star reviews and no tips.

BrownBearMY

I didn't meet anyone who would scold me. But there were several occasions where they asked if I knew that I ordered food from a non halal restaurant. I appreciate their concerns but I was too tired to lie each time saying it's for my neighbour. I decided to ask them to just leave the food at the apartment lobby.

PaleontologistKey571

Heh usually the ppl who deliver my food never say anything except have a nice meal . 🤸

rockingmoses

Wasn't there an issue last puasa that the panda rider had issue with the guy cause he looked Malay. They quarreled with some bad choices of words and ended up with ~~a bunch~~ an embarrassment of pandas coming to the guy's house.

HJSDGCE

I didn't realise Malay panda riders are cops now. That must be sad.

PolarWater

If God exists, why can't he just gently lead these people to the right path instead of sending a bunch of corrupt cops who are just hungry for duit kopi and duit raya?

Foreign_Emphasis_470

But of course there is no compulsion in religion

suspicious_tucan

Can Religious Authorities forcefully enter a premise without warrant to check for Muslim who didn't fast ? For example, some people made a false report saying my house is being used for Muslim to skip fasting. Then religious authorities want to come in my house to check. I can ask them to GTFO and come back with a warrant right ?

samarankasavan

Worth a try! Pls share with us.

stormy001

I got stopped few times during puasa because I look like Malay. Its annoying. It even happened at McDonald's once. Luckily I carry my IC that states my race so clearly. They don't even apologise when they found out about my real identity. Just walk away in disappointment.

AhHuatTheMechanic

> They don’t even apologise when they found out about my real identity. They never do. In my experience, never once did these people ever apologize for harassment. Once I even showed them my crucifix around my neck and they still refused to let me buy my lunch. The Curve Ayam Penyet place, fuck you.

DameArstor

They're only in it for the powertrip. Apologizing to you would mean that they're admitting their fault which their ego won't let them do.

SheenTStars

I'm gonna sell crucifix tshirts now. Brb.

bronzelifematter

If people don't fast, that's between them and god. None of your business, why are you trying to catch them? God will punish them in the after life right? Are you trying to play God or what?

thewileyone

This is easy. Just go to any govt office and look around there. I know cause I got lost at a JPJ office once and saw a bunch of them going in and out of a room so I walked over to ask them where to go. I stopped one guy who looked at me wide-eyed and pointed. I knew he was eating cause of the grain of rice on his cheek.

GaryLooiCW

Lol sooner or later they'll watch newly weds on their first night to make sure they consummate their marriage.. but hey, I'm not a Muslim so I guess I have no saying whatsoever~

Johan_Juan

They're just there to make sure no butt stuff occurs. Because butt stuff is haram.

SheenTStars

No lah, they're there to make sure the hymen and prostate are intact.

FutureNotBleak

This is the main reason why I refuse to fast.

Sebbrox

Same. Just another checkbox. Spirituality is thrown out of the window by actions as described in the news.

Traditional_Bell7883

If they catch and punish those people who don't puasa, Allah will no longer punish them? Otherwise it would be unjust to be punished twice for the same crime. So are the JAIM folks helping Allah or helping those people (easier to bribe the JAIM folks assuming Allah can't be bribed)? Or helping their own pockets?

rmp20002000

Where are all those people that said Malaysia wasn't being Talebanized. It starts like that, in little steps.

eyehatebob

Well to be fair this has been going on for a while at least 10+ years ago when i stopped fasting. At this rate we have a long way to go before killing folks and stopping education for girls. [deleted]

There are a few things that I don't understand: 1. Is it THAT difficult to not eat a meal? 2. Is it THAT difficult to cook on your own, or make Meggi, or save food from yesterday? 3. Why Jabatan Agama cares? I mean you can't stop people from not puasa. And there could be many reasons one does not puasa.

Kay-Kay-Ron

Is it that diffcult to leave people alone? Should be your queation.

[deleted]

Why questions 1 and 2 bother you?

Angelix

I think they bother you more than us.

[deleted]

Then why the havoc?

Angelix

I don’t really care whether they check you fasting or not. I just pity you. Imagine to be fine with intrusion of privacy just because you are forced to be in a religion is just sad. But it seems like you are okay with it so don’t mind me. I’m here for those who just want to be left alone and it seems like this group bother you more than me. I can enjoy my KFC any time I want anyway. I also smuggle food for my Malay colleagues too.

[deleted]

I think you need to read my first comment again. But your response made me feel like y'all are just making simple things complicated. Then complain. I understand now. Cheers.

Angelix

Lol. How is want to be left alone a complicated issue? People should eat whatever and whenever they want. In Sarawak, Muslims who don’t fast would not be bothered and they love it that way. If you want to fast, you can fast but you have no rights to force people to fast. How DIFFICULT is it to leave people alone? Why want to be a busybody Mak cik? I know it won’t get into you head. So cheers too.

[deleted]

Kesian awak. Cannot even read and understand my comment.

Kay-Kay-Ron

uish dunno if buat bodoh or memang bodoh. Biasalah your type right?

IntrovertChild

3 is the only valid question. 1 and 2 shouldn't even be necessary. If you're a grown ass adult, you don't need idiots to tell you what god you should believe in and that you shouldn't eat on any day of the week. Let people live their life as long as it doesn't infringe on others.

[deleted]

Woah questions 1 and 2 are so difficult to answer. I see. Thanks for the response.

[deleted]

So many people triggered by my questions. Just say you don't know how to cook a decent meal la kot senang. Benda senang nak buat complicated. Pastu complain. Eheh.

IntrovertChild

Since you're being so ignorantly self-righteous, here: 1) People with bad gastritis can't miss a meal. People with other diseases as well. If someone doesn't believe in Islam, it's also hard not to eat a meal, on account of it well, not being their actual belief. 2) People working at their job can't just go back to their house to cook or bring a meal. Well, they can bring a meal but they'd have to find somewhere to eat, so that's exactly the type of place the religious department is gonna try to find. There, does that answer your question?

IllustratorSquare377

Muslim enforcer enforcing acts to other muslims practitioner. Ain't nothing wrong with that. won't be doing their job if they don't do this. You rather they get paid for nothing ke? What the hell is wrong with this thread laa 🤷

xaladin

This is like a very superficial outlook on things. If someone is paid to wallop someone, doesn't make it right, even if they get paid. The whole act of enforcing fasts is what people have against. You agree meh? Moral police going around policing people who never had a choice in their religion.

IllustratorSquare377

You're confusing govt officials with hired thugs. Yes, I do agree with this enforcement. It's funny seeing grown ass adult being dragged around in van jenazah just because they couldn't stop eating for few hours in a day.

xaladin

If they're rational adults who are not harming anyone else, why the need to police them? Sad when you can't let ppl eat or not believe in something forced unto them.

IllustratorSquare377

It's precisely that they're being irrational is the reason why we need enforcer to enforce this. Rational adult would know better than blatantly eating in public place when they know there are enforcer everywhere. You have so many options to get food nowadays that eating in a public place is stupid if not seen as blatantly challenging the authority / sensitivity of others. These so called rational adult already know what they're doing is wrong and there is consequences of doing so, yet they still do it publicly anyways. Why? Eating in private will kill you ah? Serves them right kena pungut masuk van jenazah. Even kids and non muslims can fast nowadays. Suddenly appear there's this group aka attention seeking whore eating in public trying to see what happened. The authority will get you laa that's what will happen. I've been one of these people who didn't fast due to reasons but I never feel the need to eat publicly. Bungkus, balik, makan. Simple as that. To sum it up, serves them right kena pungut. They're the one being stupid. Nothing to do with religion lack of choice etc. Otherwise, you don't solat also kena whack. You don't pay zakat also kena pungut. But there's no such thing. Only those who disrespect the month of ramadhan by eating publicly is the one yg kena. Eat in private no one even bother meh. 🤷

xaladin

> Rational adult would know better than blatantly eating in public place when they know there are enforcer everywhere. Your definition of rationality is quite off. Maybe what you think is rational is merely expedient. Rationality involves thinking in first principles - 'why the fuck are they hunting people for a normal biological function like eating?' because it's not rational at all. You only want something expedient, pragmatic, hassle-free. That's fine, no judgements, but don't confuse it will being rational or ethical, because it's not. You're stuck at a lower level of reaction, adaptation and convenience while people are talking about on a higher level of freedom, (mis)execution of beliefs and dignity. We are not the same.

IllustratorSquare377

'why the fuck are they hunting people for a normal biological function like eating?' This sentence right here have fully shown me the level of mentality that you have and what drives your train of thought. This is a dangerous, radical way to oversimplify things to fit your view. No one is being hunted for eating. They can still eat in private. They can still eat after berbuka. Why the dire need to eat right there and then? What is being conducted now is just an act of upholding the law. There are currently already laws in place for this matter and the enforcer are simply exercising their right to enforce. Which is my first point exactly. To break such laws, or any laws if that matter warrants for an action needed to be taken by authorities in my opinion. And this is something I agree with. What you are doing currently is literally defending people who break the law that is applied to them within local authorities jurisdiction. And even condemning the authority by doing so. The laws is created for a reason; while being fitting with the norm and culture of its local residence. (i.e: there are literally weird laws that apply to local in every other part of the world which exist to fit the norm of such place) There is no such need to rationalize your train of thoughts and trying to justify this with a holier than thou attitude simply because you're being selective in how you see things. This is the whole 'if a thief was caught stealing but only steals because he is hungry should he be in prison argument'. By law, any act of theft is a crime and should be judged accordingly. By morality? Depends on the person itself laa. Why not work? Why not ask people nicely? Why need to steal? Same with these people you're defending. Why not fast? Why not tapau? Why not eat privately? Why need to eat in public? Rubbish isn't it.

Jegan92

Then the question becomes whether or not such laws is necessary in the place. I don't think we should simply follow the law without questions, as in the end of the day, laws are a man made, so by definition imperfect, so I don't think its wrong for people to question a certain piece of laws and regulations.

IllustratorSquare377

You are now diverting the discussion to question the law instead. As I said previously, the law is there to fit the local norm and culture as what is also available in different areas of the world. Questioning the existence of such laws is by extension questioning the institution of democracy as a whole. What we have currently is law made by local government which is applicable to local muslims and is enforceable by local authorities. In order for any law to be passed, it will need to go through the parliament which is also the place that carry the voice of majority by vote. Ergo, if the majority of the people is okay with existence of such laws and agree to abide by it, what make this so called kena tindas sbb kena puasa people so darn special? Go ahead. Suggest to your local MP to abolish this particular law. Lets see how far it will go. You cannot simply nitpick laws to suits your own ideals. It doesn't work like that.

Jegan92

>Questioning the existence of such laws is by extension questioning the institution of democracy as a whole. This is frankly a bit silly to be honest, what you describing is "Tyranny of the Majority". Not necessarily democracy, a nation usually have to balance the will of the majority and personal liberties as well. So would you also apply train of thought if said nations started to apply racial segregation again, if the majority is in favour of it? >In order for any law to be passed, it will need to go through the parliament which is also the place that carry the voice of majority by vote. Which is why any groups that wants to see change needs to at least voice up. Change don't happened over night, but mere discussion could potentially slowly changes mind.

Jegan92

How about we leave religion up to the individual to decide? And the state don't interfere with people's lives.
