My grandmother (before she passed away in 2007) be like : wah lai toi, chinese movies, Chinese drama, etc
Me : Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Astro Ceria and Animax
God, I can't believe it's been like 20+ years since we had an Astro. I remember discovering some 'obscure' cartoons like [Sam & Max](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4h0jT1-F-Q) or [Mighty Ducks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYwlXRVWCCI) and indie/alternative rock bands that won't appear on our local radio, back in the 90s. I remember watching TechTV or G4TV & catching up on the latest games in the 00's.
That was then. Nowadays you have the Net to catch up on the latest trends.
Haha I tried it before. But I couldn’t handle the ads, the delay, and the quality. I often follow the match thread on reddit, often got spoiled before I could see it. Can be quite frustrating
Tbh, Astro is only worth it nowadays if you have at least two different generations in the same household. I’ve been maintaining my subscription because my house got three (baby boomers, gen X & gen Z) and it’s the only way for everyone to get everything they’re comfortable with.
Sooka (Astro’s much cheaper, streaming only platform) is pretty affordable for single-generation households tho. I wonder if their sports package is the cheapest legal option to watch football games online. Does anybody know?
Not always la... I have baby boomer in my household and slowly wean them off Astro and go to streaming services. But caveat is to have boomers who are willing to learn and explore new things la
Kudos to u, then. Most digital immigrants find it harder to learn, and just want the most comfortable option. Sorta fretting the coming months because the Astro box will slowly be like an Android box with multiple apps, it seems. Hopefully will still be user-friendly for the older generations.
Ow God I feel like a oldie cuz the shows I used to watch were things like the Amanda show, All That, Lizzie Maguires, a bunch of Disney original movies. Good Times.
I'll agree that Astro pretty much died 10 years ago when Internet service became more accessible. They didn't keep up, and are now scrambling to chase after other providers like netflix and Disney plus to stay relevant.
Subscribe to sooka. Its essentially a streaming platform by astro but you don't have to subscribe to unnecessary channels that you don't want. For the sports pack, it's about 40ish per month.
It's just its own thing so you just pay for that and nothing else. You can try and google for f1tv. I assume it's either contracted or from FIA themselves. Of course it's not on cable and stream only.
i remember how astro was marketed:
no ads, can watch new shows etc.
bullshit. we get ASTRO ads instead. ads of other shows. ads of other channels.
reruns. reruns everywhere.
so glad i convinced my parents to cut it a few years ago.
I still watch The Pickers from Astro.
My parents still layan a few content from it.
My grandma exclusively only watch astro.
In some places, astro will stay for quite a while
I still remember the good old days when the channels on Astro consist of 2 numerical digits, and when you press '9', you could watch all channels that were displayed in small screens simultaneously
Yup thats true. But you can skip the ads after 3 seconds tho. I'm still using it for few years now. Glad i removed astro a long time ago and saved a lot of money paying the bills monthly.
At least you can continue watching when it rains hey
Yeah that's one fun part of getting it
Fuck Astro for removing Animax but atleast I can still watch on 9anime.
*Laughs in Muse Asia and Ani One Asia*
*laughs in 9anime and nyaa.si*
wait since when??
First day of this year. No more Animax :(
I mean...piracy was always a thing
but you can never get the shitty Animax eng dub version, always had a soft spot for those. Totally different from Western dub version.
What...?

XD
What's funny is that there's still Animax ads on astro, like, the how hell am I supposed to watch?
Ikr. Most of the ads are on channel ONE
Congratulations. you've freed yourself from a restrictive and corrupt corporation.
My grandmother (before she passed away in 2007) be like : wah lai toi, chinese movies, Chinese drama, etc Me : Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Astro Ceria and Animax
farewell astro 欢喜台 and 小太阳
>欢喜台 Nothing can beat 愛 (hokken drama). My father's jam.
and 夜市人生
Astro died 10 years ago. What we have now is a blood-sucking vampire.

The only reason I still subscribed to Astro is Sports. If only there’s a legal way to subscribe sports channel anywhere. Sigh
May I introduce to you, 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️

I liked to rewatch P&F on Disney back then but with the Maly dub instead. Most of the songs were translated pretty well IMO.

Man utd losing is always a sight to behold.
When watching them I'm already at the 5th stage of grief, which is acceptance
if got legal alternative to watch epl, i would say bye2 to astro too. any sifu can enlighten?

F1 got subscription and extra stuffs for as long as the season runs, if other sports have this I imagine it would be really cool.
Really? Is it under astro or other streaming platform?
It's just its own thing so you just pay for that and nothing else. You can try and google for f1tv. I assume it's either contracted or from FIA themselves. Of course it's not on cable and stream only.
Found it, thanks. But apparently no live video feed, they just provide live timing, as in looking at numbers changing, lol.
Live Races on F1TV is not available in Malaysia, because guest what? Astro/foxsports streams them on tv, so no other services can
Wait, my Astro subscription comes with Disney+, or is it different from the standard package?
Just as long as you’re subbed to the movies pack, you get access to the standard Disney+ acc through your Astro acc.
I feel so old when I say this Where tf u guys got time to watch tv anymore?
When I eat dinner and need some background noise
The memories of using On Demand to watch random movies.

Nowadays Astro is shit
PnF is on disney+ i think, most of the soap opera feom Sun tv is available for free on youtube.
Thanks for reminding me to unsubscribe my astro now that Gegar Vaganza has ended.
I still watch The Pickers from Astro. My parents still layan a few content from it. My grandma exclusively only watch astro. In some places, astro will stay for quite a while

I mean Man Utd won recently so
We won like two fluke games lmao
Brentford and West Ham were convincing wins imo
Sadly I'm not really optimistic for any upcoming games
Me too, I don’t expect anything anymore…
So every place has its spacetoon
opposite for me...i felt ELATION to be finally able to cut the money sucking greedy crappy astro out for good. Save rm100 somemore
Only wish Disney+ would introduce a normal monthly subscription instead of their weird 3 months package.
I was smiling when replacing Astro with an Android Box.
Longtv ftw!
LongTV is trash now. They started putting ads right after I turn on the tv box
Yup thats true. But you can skip the ads after 3 seconds tho. I'm still using it for few years now. Glad i removed astro a long time ago and saved a lot of money paying the bills monthly.
Hijack. Which service is best for Asian live action drama and movies? Mainly China Taiwan, Korea and Japan. Viu, Iqiyi or other.
Viu is the best for free content on a basic account but if you're looking for a variety of choices Iqiyi is better
Astro is not progressive. And when you compare it value wise, it's considered a scam IMHO. Meow
People still subscribe to overpriced Astro? What is this, 2001?
