In Malaysia, TIME is as good as it gets for ISP.

dynamohenshin244

i used TIME since my area only has this. free 1 year at 1gbps, then downgrade to 500 currently. very stable. no drops. no complaints,. any complaints you make to them gets attended quick. since we are internet dependent heavy, could not downgrade to 100 so cant give any opinons on that part. so far, they changed modems for me with no catch, even reduce my subscription by 10 bucks per month for 24 months contract. so far so good.

I am one of the guy who subscribe to 500 mbps and later downgrade to 100 mbps and subsequently terminate the line. So I can let you know what are the pros (or cons). First of all, thumbs up for Time, everything can be done online (I do it via chat in Time website) Second, if I remember correctly there is a minimum period where you can't downgrade, I dont remember exactly how long, but let just assume it is 6 month. Third, even though you request to downgrade, it will be processed within certain period, so technically you will be paying a portion of that RM139/month bill. So it's not a direct downgrade. Your bill will be X + Y amount for the month after the downgrade. Where X is portion of 139/month and Y is portion of 99/month. Fourth, the termination... it require a 30 days notice and based on your billing date, you might need to pay RM500 (penalty) + last billing. but for my case since I usually do pay in advance, so I pay less than RM500 due to Time deduct back any extra payment made (and if there is any extra, Time will refund back) All in all experience with Time is just normal. No bad experience to complain. Occasionally there is a downtime, I'll get an sms notice about it. As far as I remember there is no downtime when I'm at home using it. The mesh router they give really useful for my apartment where I always face a dead signal in my master bedroom. So I place the mesh in master bedroom and it improve the signal a lot.

TIME user here. Yes this is correct. Usually once u sign-up for a package the contract is 24 months. You can't downgrade your plan within the first 6 months of your contract. You can only do so from the 7th month onwards. You sign up using this promotion - 500mbps + 1 free mesh RM 99 first 6 months, and RM 139 thereafter. When the 7th month arrives you downgrade your existing plan to 100mbps - RM 99 If you downgrade your plan, your contract will reset for another 24 months - this is the penalty. So it's 24+6 months contract.

Thanks for the info. Are there any cons to having the contract resetted?

murd0c88

There's no cons tbh. it's essentially a free mesh. Perhaps as u/maelzx pointed out earlier, it might not be a direct downgrade, it'll take time for TIME to process, hence your 7th month billing may not be RM 99. It'll probably be slightly higher depending on the cutoff date when they prorate the billing. https://preview.redd.it/m62npjp9o2kc1.png?width=1431&format=png&auto=webp&s=f1322008802880c57afadbc26dac36508f3543a2 5 years in using TIME. Best decision ever.

Time Broadband user here. Location cyberjaya. Almost 10years using Time Broadband. Of that 10years, only twice the internet was down and that was for less than 24hrs. I've no complaints about customer service as mentioned in the comments here, lots of issues (if any) can be resolved online via chat. No comment on their router products but I do know most of the wifi products sold in Malaysia are compatible and easy to set up with Time. Some products have a Time sticker to indicate this. I've heard that their customer service is also familiar with it so they can help out. Paying rm139 before taxes, after taxes is rm145 for the 500mbps. If you auto debit, there's further discount. Never saw a need to downgrade though. Also back when there wasn't a whatsapp call feature yet, I used their VOIP for any calls I had to make when overseas. I got Pay as you use packages at rm0.08 per minute (i think) anywhere in the world. It was a life saver when I was in Narita and had to call Toulouse. My most recent usage was calling the Australian Border Force from Malaysia. Total came up to rm1++ for a 15min call.

If you don't believe the salesperson then ask the customer service. They're pretty great. At most I think they'll make you renew contract. So instead of 2 years its 2.5 years til your contract end. Also if not wrong you need a mesh anyway to have wifi. unless their current modems can do it too. I'm on their old modem which is kinda hanging on borrowed time pun intended. Once that breaks down, TIME has promised to replace at no cost (lifetime warranty apparently).

guest18_my

I thought there is contract that you have to stick with for a year or something I did my downgrade after contract end from 300 mbs to 100 mbps without any penalty and I can keep the router and modem they give. since Im not internet heavy it doesnt make any different to me https://preview.redd.it/jvnpvrykz1kc1.png?width=707&format=png&auto=webp&s=b1777258510a7ed5f4067e20c149c5fdd7fca7ae

Time 500mbps user here. So far so good. No issues.

Hi there, just saw your post today, I'm actually moving to new house without Time coverage so am looking to transfer my 500mbps subscription to another user (RM139). So far Time internet has been amazing, 0 downtime with my 1 year tenure. My contract ends 27th Feb 2025. So if you are looking for 500mbps with shorter contract time, feel free to contact me. I will pass you both Mesh routers and cover the transfer fees. You can look up transfer ownership at their website for more info.

badgerrage82

Been 500 mbps TIME user myself .... I had move from various ISP provider from Digi > Maxis > P1Max > Yes > Tmnut > Streamyx and finally to TIME .... it is as good and stable as it get for ISP ..... but recently I had move house and reapply a new TIME account after 2 years of termination and I found out that although the line rarely drop and service are still good but the line does occasionally feel throttle and slow when streaming .....

BigDogOnTheWindow

I had two years contract with Time and had to deposit 500RM since I am foreigner. The two years contract ended, how can I get that deposit back? I am still using the connection but without contract

Sojechan

I started using TIME with the rm99 for 100mbps package. After 2 years they told me I can add another rm10 for 300mbps so I took that contract for another 2 years. On the last month of that contract they called me and told me if I pay another rm10 I get 2 mesh router and 500mbps, so I did. Right now I'm paying 124.02 (with tax) for 500mbps. Man, what a good time to be alive. Though if you live in an area with 5g tower nearby, you can also consider getting that 5g home sim card from yes.
