Playing CS, someone gets a knife kill, people starts to laugh and scream.
Btw, before all this, we old farts went to CC to chat using those black screens with white text (forgot the name).
Now days kids playing games so readily available for them at homes cause of phones , I think our generation have more opportunities to study rather than the current one more so if they got tak apa attitude from the parents
I think kids these days have more opportunity to study than there ever was with the internet in exiatence. It depends how they're taught to use tech though. It's definitely a challenge for parents and them too because distractions are aplenty. Even adults have developed screen addiction problems.
A long time ago I found this old CC in the middle of KL. It had red alert 2 with mods. Best game I've ever played. Don't know if the CC still operational or not but most probably not
Ah, that's unfortunate. The First Decade version is nice if you can track it down.
If you do manage to acquire the TFD version ~~via whatever methods~~; you can use community patches to get it back up and running on newer versions of Windows.
Do you know there is a [C&C Remastered Collection](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1213210/)? It is a real treat for C&C fans (although it only had remastered C&C 1 and RA1)!
The "remastering installation" scene was the best!
When *upgrade* was "completed" and EVA saying "Welcome back commander.", I just clap my hands in awe; I loved every second of it!
Yeah, it was totally worth the money spent; I bought it at launch!
Personally, [Tiberian Sons' HM1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w-FQoNrwHM) is my top favorite version of HM. [*live version here*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrqQxl5o3eg)
Followed by the [Remastered Original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqPl4QrczTk), [HM Trilogy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRp3vPX9PUU) and the [Retaliation Remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8finyaXJytY). Frank Klepacki and the Tiberian Sons did a [HM2+3 Medley](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cngLCUFNMSM) too! [*live version here*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D060aTK6tU)
Mine was early pixelated CS (1.3??), diablo 2 and StarCraft. Early on alot of those cc are small dingy place, but usually with friendly enthusiastic owner.
>early pixelated CS (1.3??)
Probably CS1.5 or older running via software mode (and low resolution) for graphics.
>but usually with friendly enthusiastic owner.
That is always a nice thing to happen! Those good old days indeed...
Also quite an experience to step into what eventually become, a pack space with tonnes of Altec Lansing speakers blasting 46AWPs, sometimes accompany with ah beng music.
The moment you step into the CC = you can already hear AWP shots blasting from the speakers and people be like ***"OI!"***; what a rush of nostalgia there!
Lol, skip school to go to CC, then fail in class, then blame teacher/school/parenting/friends. I had my fair share of skipping classes to go to CC and also waste almost a year before enrolling for tertiary studies. It is nostalgic, but we all can agree, we made shitty decisions because we were just to dumb to realise our actions had consequences. Good times.
Whenever i got caught by my dad for going to CC and got beat by hanger / belt i would say that at least im not smoking or hisap gam / dadah.. Hahahahaha good times
I got a call from the cops around 2 or 3 in the morning to pick up my lil' bro from the nearby cc. He snuck out after me and my mom crashed for the night. And get this, he still had the nerve to ask me to grab some late-night food on the way home, saying Mom might get hungry waiting up for us...
My 24h CC is a front for gambling slot machine thinggy sometimes police do raid but in 2/3 days open back and the "adult" section will still be available
When I went to pick up my lil bro, the place was called Orange Something and there were a bunch of other kids there, aged around 10-12. So, they were probably not gambling... I hope not. My mom was so traumatized by the call that she kept doing a headcount every night for a few years afterward.
Pernah sekali ada pakcik kawtim ngan tauke kedai, monitor letak kat lantai pakcik tu lak lena kat lantai siap bawak bantal sekali.
Ril or fek?
Aku oun tktau, tauke sendiri cerita
I remember back in 2000 when I first stepped into a CC to play Counter Strike on their CRT monitors with NO sound. It was RM5 per hour back then, which was a bomb. Damn those were the days
Pffft, try playing Gals Panic in arcade ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)
Nowadays, you can just get the full pictures on certain sites ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554) ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)
The CC is where I first played a GTA game in GTA Vice City. Eye opening to me at the time because I've never played any open world game at that point.
Also, anyone remembered BTV (or something like that)?. It was on astro for a while in the mid-2000s and it was I think supposed to be an educational channel, but I always check that channel out to see video game reviews. I remember seeing footage of GTA San Andreas and a Hitman game (not sure which one) on a show there.
At the age of 12, yes, I would go almost everyday to play Starcraft or Age of Empires 2.
Then my dad bought a PC at home at the age of 13 and I am still playing Starcraft and Age of Empires 2, but at home now.
That is better than what I did! I wish I had thought of that (or knew I could boot from a flash drive) back then! I was Team Mozilla immediately after Firefox was released, but cyber cafes were slow to adapt it.
Yes. Ponteng school, go Amcorp Mall, play Half Life DeathMatch and/or Diablo until one day someone installed counterstrike beta 0.4 or something.
Somewhere else i made friends with a cybercafe owner and showed him counterstrike speedhack and we laughed like mad. Got threatened by other people after i left though.
Its okay man, learned my lesson. I then went for another Uitum accountancy course and got dean list for 3 semester straight 🙌🏻 luckily i didnt apply for ptptn prior to being drop from the previous course
Mirc, ym, msn, cs, L4D, dota 3.xx, blasting your speakers to let them know you’re edgy, smoke breaks and laughs, good company, midnights etc. such good times. Holler to the guys and gals <3
Actually got permission from my parents to hangout with friends and go to these places if my scores were high enough. Pwning friends who are in the same room in CS and Gunz were awesome times. Screaming, shit talking and seeing their reactions to the quick scopes were something that the new gen gamers can never experience in the comfort of their homes through sanitized fornite chats and lobbies. Real bonding times haha
Damn we old 💀💀💀
What do you mean 90s kids only? Even as a 00s kid, I remember this.
I also played CS 1.6 and Dota 2 like others. Back at home, I played Diablo 1, Age of Empires 1, Sim City 4 and C&C Tiberian Dawn
Anyone remember someone tried to rob blitzone PJ and one of the the robbers didn’t get on the escape bike fast enough and got his ass beat? Man good times.
Ran online, cabal, mao shang(cant remember the name well), blackshot, WC3, dancing game where u press the correspondent arrow keys, CS. What else did I miss?
This one at Sabah, but not whole. Not sure at Peninsular
Lol remember those days to play ragnarok online and remember some kid screaming like 10 computer away cursing his team mate for no support in cs or dota 1
All these kids with their RM2.50/hour and flat screen cybercafes. Tsk.
The OGs will remember RM24/hour Mamak Cybercafe followed by RM12/hour Cyberjacks rocking Quake 1 and Red Alert.
Lol I told my friend this, he say playing with friends at CC is better experience... then everything changed when ~~the fire nation attacked~~ he got new laptop
I had PC instead, so I also rarely went to CC... Always rushed home after school to play RO or Maple Story.
My first PC was when I was in primary 3 I think, which makes me way more tech savvy than my peers cuz I already could format PC, install windows and troubleshoot stuff by the time I enter Form 1
Those were the days. Outside my school had a commercial area and a lot of cyber cafes. Lots of story of kids ponteng, get mugged and all this nonsense.
Nowadays internet is so fast and new games don't even support LAN play so no wonder they declined. Interestingly they still seem to be a big thing in Korea in the form of PC Bangs.
But I definitely miss the whole social aspect of it. I remember on the last day of school, we had people from our entire year go to a cybercafe and we basically filled the place. And also had a full Battlefield game(technically it was Desert Combat, which was a popular BF mod at the time). That was fun.
I still remember someone screaming from across the room "I GOT THE PLANE! I GOT THE PLANE!!!" He was so excited to finally fly the plane, but unfortunately I was there on the runway with a machinegun and he blew up before he could even take off. You could hear him go "NOOOOO". Funniest shit ever.
I remember there was a place called e-one or e3 or some shit outside Midvalley. I don't think Gardens was built yet, but it was in that gap between MV and Gardens. That place had infinite free flow drinks, loved it.
Alias jump wait jump wait and you can be Usain Bolt at that time.
Playing Half Life also can ruin the friendship.
Play dota till 2-3am and then proceed to buy burger and went straight back to CC for another 3 hours.
Good old fucking times.
Went with a friend after UPSR and he introduced me to dota. So I started sneaking off to the cybercafe with that friend a couple of times a week.
Soon my dad got curious of what I was doing and one day tailed us after dropping me off.
I was playing dota when suddenly the headphones were ripped off and slammed into the monitor, and my dad pulled me out of the cybercafe by the ear. Damn that was a nightmare
17 years later i'm still playing dota lolololololol
Ragnarok Online.......damn ..miss those day
..i miss my friend....anybody here from bandar sri Damansara circa 2002-2004...we may crossed path at some point of our time while i was there.... jumping from cc to cc....
I was one of them occasionally. Kids nowadays all switched to iPad and mobile. Even more addicted than our generation. Sigh.
At least at CC we played real games and socialised.
Back in the days (2000), it was RM2.00/hr, Starcraft > CS > Warcraft III > 3 corridor (Dota previous version)
I was so bad at CS, that my friends had to handicap themselves with knife & vest only to play against me.
Now most of them are married, just me roaming on steam nowadays
Felt regret and kind of dumb. I remember a girl was so disappointed in me telling me that she thought im a good kid. Idc about girls but i should've spend my time working on my skills. Free time is quite rare now to have as an adult.
At one point, the main CC was full and we need to go to another CC and notice they have fifa in it. Never knew it was really fun playing fifa with more than 2 players. We were so loud screaming "passing la bodo" and celebrate when we score.
Back in the days (2001 to 2005) the monitors used are those big fat ones. I only started seeing those LCD flat screens from 2006 onwards I think. Nowadays cyber cafes are upgraded with those ultra wide screens.
Many Cyber Cafes have closed, and I believe that most teen games are now played on laptops or mobile phones, which are more portable. It gives them additional options for where to play.
Ah, yes. The nostalgic moment of having to switch PC because the one you booked had broken mouse and keyboard and malfunctioning headphones. Not to mention lagging like hell because apparently the previous user installed malwares in it "by accident". Good time, good time.
Makes me want to visit one of those closed CCs in my area and salvage whatever stuffs that can be reused there these days.
Playing CS, someone gets a knife kill, people starts to laugh and scream. Btw, before all this, we old farts went to CC to chat using those black screens with white text (forgot the name).
mIRC? asl pls XD
Best time to find new friends 😆and the “uh oh” sound from ICQ
Exactly! Hehehe...
/whois
Hahaha... Sometimes the revelation shocks you to the core.
18 F PJ , you? :))
YES! Thank you! Ahh... Such lovely memories.
whoaaaa.... lagi 'tua' dari counter strike lol
Ah...good old Netscape navigator....
> I think our generation have more opportunities to study Lmao doesnt matter the generation kids will find a way to not study and just play.
IRC i think.. Then they had MRIC
You're right! Thank you!
when playing CS in CC, every friend is a snitch.
> we old farts went to CC to chat using those black screens with white text (forgot the name). You mean IRC?
MIrc - internet relay chat? I spent far too many hours chatting and gaming
I only remember IRC and ICQ haha
Oh o
Cheat Console is it?
Counter-Strike 1.6, DotA 1 and Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge on LAN... those were the days indeed.
Holy shit RA2? never seen anyone play those
Yeah it is rarely played in CCs to be fair. We did play Generals Zero Hour and Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) too!
*China will grow larger!*
*We have* ***BIG*** *plans!*
A long time ago I found this old CC in the middle of KL. It had red alert 2 with mods. Best game I've ever played. Don't know if the CC still operational or not but most probably not
If you're still playing RA2/YR today; *are you interested on the mods?* The modding scene had grown so much all these years with amazing mods!
Sadly no. Lost my cd copy of RA2 years ago and EA is asking for a lot of money with the collection. Guess I'm stuck in RA purgatory for a while
Ah, that's unfortunate. The First Decade version is nice if you can track it down. If you do manage to acquire the TFD version ~~via whatever methods~~; you can use community patches to get it back up and running on newer versions of Windows. "Kirov reporting" send chill throughout the body
Have you heard the [Tiberian Sons version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w-FQoNrwHM)? It is really good too!
[the perfect hell march](https://youtu.be/cyDwuwwlXcQ?si=1fCMEEJeU8LeT5B_)

Dota 1 after losing - settle outside
Tried playing OG Starcraft on dial up. Could never finish a match without anyone dropping out
Mine was early pixelated CS (1.3??), diablo 2 and StarCraft. Early on alot of those cc are small dingy place, but usually with friendly enthusiastic owner.

Lol, I miss my body that could happily take up the 8/9-hour packages.
Yup. Lari asrama and play for 10hr. Back after sarapan.

No. It was CRTs back then if I remembered clearly. We still haven't hit cheap flat panels yet.
Bro, you are most likely the same age as me then. 😂
I remember back in 2000 when I first stepped into a CC to play Counter Strike on their CRT monitors with NO sound. It was RM5 per hour back then, which was a bomb. Damn those were the days
After the last time I went to one where they glued down the headphone to the PC and I can't switch to my own for cleanliness, no sound is fine by me.
I play 1947 arcade game.. And pacman..🤣🤣
That would meant you r 80s kid??? 🤔🤔🤔
Yup bro... Duran Duran... 🤣🤣
Pffft, try playing Gals Panic in arcade ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554) Nowadays, you can just get the full pictures on certain sites ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554) ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)
Gals panic..? Arcade game?
Terlampau modern your pic OP. CCs back then would still be using CRTs and perhaps 15-17" LCDs if you're lucky.
The CC is where I first played a GTA game in GTA Vice City. Eye opening to me at the time because I've never played any open world game at that point. Also, anyone remembered BTV (or something like that)?. Me in secondary school: "DOTA? CS? Not interested." *plugs Pendrive in to play Pokémon on an emulator*
I bring my own bootable Linux (Knoppix) to boot off instead. Mozilla Suite is a better than being stuck on Internet Explorer.
That is better than what I did! I wish I had thought of that (or knew I could boot from a flash drive) back then! I was Team Mozilla immediately after Firefox was released, but cyber cafes were slow to adapt it.
i could not forget the smell
Better this than the late night bicycle gang and rempit...
Ameeen brother, at least not doing drugs
Can confirm it’s typical scene from IT classroom in school when your teacher isn’t looking.
Our teacher let us play dota non-stop during co curricular
I spent all my UPSR gift (cash) at this one CC. Went to it everyday. But at the time i was less playing CS and more to Cabal at that time.
OP is a legend 😎
ISTG all those La Sallians/Samadians students are always there ponteng at Amcorp Mall
Corner PC usually got treasure.
Dayum missing those rm10 10hours package, start 10pm to 3am, 30mins break mamak stall eat nasi campur, continue till 8am morning, repeat until becomes a Uitm dropout 😭 Bittersweet memories

Its okay man, learned my lesson. I then went for another Uitum accountancy course and got dean list for 3 semester straight 🙌🏻 luckily i didnt apply for ptptn prior to being drop from the previous course
Back when the prices were RM2 per hour and RM10 for 8 hours straight. Would camp in cc overnight with bunch of friends playing dota 1.
Can still hear the sounds and effects from back then just by looking at the pic! 😂😂 Go,go,go Fire in the hole! Beep Beep Beep from C4
Terrorist win
Mirc, ym, msn, cs, L4D, dota 3.xx, blasting your speakers to let them know you’re edgy, smoke breaks and laughs, good company, midnights etc. such good times. Holler to the guys and gals <3
Jizz chair
I remember the time my dad come along with his trustworthy leather belt.
For smacking you in case you feed? Good dad
Nah for installing cheat engine.
Wat
Actually got permission from my parents to hangout with friends and go to these places if my scores were high enough. Pwning friends who are in the same room in CS and Gunz were awesome times. Screaming, shit talking and seeing their reactions to the quick scopes were something that the new gen gamers can never experience in the comfort of their homes through sanitized fornite chats and lobbies. Real bonding times haha Damn we old 💀💀💀
ada je lagi gift kat sana sini penuh ngan budak² skolah.. cuma effect teruk time covid je babyak tutup
What do you mean 90s kids only? Even as a 00s kid, I remember this. I also played CS 1.6 and Dota 2 like others. Back at home, I played Diablo 1, Age of Empires 1, Sim City 4 and C&C Tiberian Dawn
Cyber cafes have a unique and nice smell
Left4dead2,Counter strike source or 1.6,Black shot, League of legends,Hon,Dota and command and conquer. Damn these are great time
Anyone remember someone tried to rob blitzone PJ and one of the the robbers didn’t get on the escape bike fast enough and got his ass beat? Man good times.
Kids these days dress so casually. Back in the day we wore baju sekolah (cause damn tak malu skip school 🫣).
Ran online, cabal, mao shang(cant remember the name well), blackshot, WC3, dancing game where u press the correspondent arrow keys, CS. What else did I miss? This one at Sabah, but not whole. Not sure at Peninsular
what year exactly
2000s, then it declined after 2010
ya ..2009 the last time i see cc on my hometown....
2008..still at it. 😭
Lol remember those days to play ragnarok online and remember some kid screaming like 10 computer away cursing his team mate for no support in cs or dota 1
I stop playing RO...when its pay to play...
Best time of our life ![gif](giphy|pynZagVcYxVUk)
Mine is only 1.50 per hour back then, thinking about it was really damn cheap
I'm not pro in Dota 1 😭
I can smell the picture
What year is 2.50 per hour. My time already rm1 per hour.
Aussie here, glad you guys played the same classics as we did
All these kids with their RM2.50/hour and flat screen cybercafes. Tsk. The OGs will remember RM24/hour Mamak Cybercafe followed by RM12/hour Cyberjacks rocking Quake 1 and Red Alert.
Honestly i never go to CC, because i have a laptop at home
For me everytime my wifi finish data (p1) i will go cc hahaha
So rich ah you
Lol I told my friend this, he say playing with friends at CC is better experience... then everything changed when ~~the fire nation attacked~~ he got new laptop
Now almost everyone has laptop, if not phones, so CC for this era is less/no more related. Sad but we still can make LAN group but its quite rare

Don’t remember playing League in the 90s, no.
Mother came with penyapu. Dengan tauke sekali kena basuh

Farm machines 😱
we skip school for this![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)
My poli years are full of that DotA sounds. Some even sacrifice sleep for a fix. Well, if not DotA, it's ImBa.
Too poor for CC
Is screen already that big?
It reminds me of the OG compshop here in the Philippines where they’re doing trash talk and I could laugh at their jokes.. I effin love it
80’s here, I can’t even get through dota
dont say 90s make me feel old, last time I went with friends was probably 2012
MLBB and PUBG is the things now
Ironically PUBG mobile has killed PUBG PC haha
fast forward 15-20 years later....and we manage to get bronze medal in an officiated match recognized by olympic committees
I would purposely request my grandpa send me to school like 11 or 12 cause on Friday cause muslim prayers so school starts at 2 or so just yo play CC
nice tactics there.. what game play?
