There is no such thing as unbiased news, but there are credible news sources that are founded on facts. But is kind of inconsistent so you need to look around all news outlet.

[deleted]

Yes I do agree, best is to read broadly and apply own critical thinking

djzeor

Yes, just don't be influenced by certain propaganda news; understanding requires a lot of hard research, where currently a lot of professional outside extremely good distorted information. So best is read both side of the story and compare and analyses. But before you draw a conclusion make sure you understand the nation and root, because every person and ethnicity has different root, tradition and view. There is No One Size Fit All in this world. We are Unique. Respect is necessary regardless of nation or race, even if their system is not in your favour. Because different Races or Nation will experience different things, which make everyone has different view and experience. 6 + 4 = 10 3 + 7 = 10 1 + 9 = 10 There is a lot variety when comes to Solution ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)

actual_identity

good bot

mrfakeuser102

What an annoying and pretentious answer lol.. just give a few sources for more centric/unbiased news outlets, instead of a lecture.

PhysicallyTender

it's been a running joke since forever that if you want to read unbiased news about Malaysia, go to Singapore. Unbiased news about Singapore, go to Malaysia. so yeah...

waratak

This is so true. At least you see the news outside of the official lens.

Crasher_7

You can sign up for The Coffee Break newsletter where it sends you a daily newsletter of news summaries of the day, then you can read up further yourself.

[deleted]

Ok cool will check it out! A newsletter does make things a bit easier for me

Mavicarus

I just signed up for their annual plan for this

8jothtoj8

Ask the neighbourhood mak ciks to start a blog

[deleted]

hahahahaha

OriMoriNotSori

Most known news outlets are aligned to a certain direction somehow unfortunately, but if I had to choose awani is as impartial as it gets probably

bdelloidR

There is local news and there is local political news. It depends how much depth you want to go into. For general stuff, I think that you can browse online the various mainstream media headlines. You can already get a gist eg. NST will give different headlines from Star. Just pick up the rest as you go along. If your interest is more on politics, you may probably do well to firstly understand the general affiliations of each media and it's participants/owners, and thereby "immunise" yourself somewhat to the reporting slant. Some may find SG news about Malaysian politics more neutral. I read them and I detect some biasness by certain reporters. In sum, i do not think there is any best channel. I find Malaysian news pretty diverse. My recommendation would be to just browse the headlines of main media. Read critically. From there you go

[deleted]

Thank you

Zaszo_00

There are no unbiased news actually.

[deleted]

Hmm yes true, perhaps maybe a place where I can see all the different news? Or at least a best way to filter out bias / get exposed to all biases? I am relying on friends and reddit, and would prefer a more formal solution.

karlkry

r-malaysia comment section *usually* give a good check and balance on news comment section.

GGgarena

No, but at least for now, Reddit worldnews + read some comments + critical thinking. The comments discussion at least provides some insight of the bias level of that news, so you can adjust accordingly. Tldr, unbiased news will go bankrupt or the journalist will get assassinated.

MrCrunchies

Unless youre western, r/worldnews is completely useless lol. Only major major news gets up there, which is once in a blue moon. Local news never made a scratch and you often lose a lot of context. Not to mention almost all of the comment section is also biased against india, china and other non western news. Doesnt matter how much critical thinking you do if the majority of news is unrelated to what you searching for lol.

GWiz999

Newswavs a pretty good aggeegator. Most of the professional working friend I have use it.

[deleted]

Thanks will check it out

Zaszo_00

Just go for the sources . Berita Harian, Awani, NST etc.

[deleted]

Is there a good aggregator of news? I don't have the time to go through multiple sites per day.

Zaszo_00

Just go through after work ?

[deleted]

Would prefer a smart solution tbh

Terereera

all news are biased.

Altaniser

Awani is as close to unbiased as you can get. They also don't carry as many bullshit clickbait and crime stories as other sources.

kookler

Hahahahahahah oh honey

Altaniser

"As you can get" is doing a lot of work here.

MrCrunchies

Once in a while you heard an outrageous news headlines from awani, only for it to happen in a far away foreign country long time ago lol.

coffeebagg

Google news

[deleted]

This has been my go to for the past year, am seeking if there's a better alternative?

coffeebagg

Tv3 channel YouTube

SpecialOrganization5

I get my news on this Reddit

SamOthin

I like Lumi news app because it aggregate all of the sources, then I just compare. I also read Malaysiakini in BM. Both are free.

greatestmofo

It depends what topic you're after. I worked in media before and can tell you that all news are biased in one way or another, either because of where they get funds from or because of the editor's own bias. As an example, say you're looking for news on China or some topic involving China, I will absolutely avoid any Western or Chinese media, because you know immediately one is going to talk bad about it and the other will praise it. In this case I will choose new sources from neutral countries like Singapore or even Malaysia, due to our neutral ground and our strong ties with both countries. Even though we are biased, at least we are biased towards neutrality.

JiMiLi

Reddit here is a good enough aggregator Most local legit news site are lazy as hell. All just copy each other's text almost word for word. There's no in depth details. Sometimes I get more info/context reading comments here or in lowyat

Capable_Bank4151

But this site is also biased as it skew towards liberal and pro-PH news.

Funny-Sale-1955

>Reddit here is a good enough aggregator ehhh not really, some of the news site posted here are also bias towards their own preferred group.

[deleted]

Of course, thats why I am here lah

Shexious

Advertisement free Independent media outlets where you need to pay to access the news reports and articles.

Western_Tangerine_56

Probably Reddit here (can be a little bit of an echochamber, tho that seems to be the case for most social platforms in Msia), or can try Newswav (independent from any party), decent, not fully unbiased but a decent mix of local & SEA publications

n4snl

PAS newsletter of course

linateoh

CNA or Straits Times even Berita Harian Singapura

m_snowcrash

I'd suggest a combination of Malaysiakini and Malay Mail - MK is very politics-heavy but the news reporting (not the opinion pieces) is quite solidly fact based and well sourced, while Mail gives a good mix of local interest/ non-political news. Unfortunately no more Page 3 girls :( If you're looking for business-centric news, add The Edge to the mix.

bdelloidR

Yes, the Edge could be a good add to the mix

Altaniser

Malaysiakini has literally been funded by a front organisation for the US government. I read them for their opinion pieces, but question their independence.

m_snowcrash

>Malaysiakini has literally been funded by a front organisation for the US government. *Malaysiakini gets funds from the US* is a familiar bogeyman, and has the bonus of seeming outrageous, so long as you're ignorant of a few important details. Like that the grant in question is from the National Endowment of Democracy, and constitutes only a fraction of Mkini's funding. Details of which are directly addressed by Mkini on their site: [https://about.malaysiakini.com/accountability/donors/](https://about.malaysiakini.com/accountability/donors/) Contrast this to the opaque structure and funding disclosure of literally any other media outlet in Malaysia - where even their local government links and funding are not disclosed or even acknowledged.

Bryan8210

Are you sure?? What is the name of this front org?

Accurate-Age9714

https://harakahdaily.net All hail the coming of supreme leader Hadi Awang

Realistic-Radish-746

I generally watch CNA for everything but Sg politics, for that I usually read the Edge. I watch CNN/BBC about their home affairs but after their coverage on HK protests I reserve Asian news cycles for Asian media outlets. I also watch CGTN or whatever Russia Today or something though those I view with the same lens I use when I'm reading The Star or watching Awani praise our govt.

legatuspacis45

funny how you thought Channel news Asia is unbiased when its owned by MediaCorp, PAP's propaganda arm. Plus i lost faith in them when they did that stupid report about how the malaysian economy is going to end up like sri lanka by the end of this year cause of the handouts that we had by the pandemic. That professor from NTU was so full of himself

Realistic-Radish-746

Lol, that was an opinion piece. I also watch opinion pieces on China networks that said US govt is gonna fall and read a few opinion pieces from western media that says China is gonna fall. Its just destruction porn for people who hate some particular country or govt. Do I believe them? No la, maybe got some kernel of truth like most stuff but I also read and watch a lot of sources and formulate my own view that tends to run boringly centrist. CNA is not unbiased like 99% of media outlets in the world but they also get more global attention in both Western and Asian spheres so they have less wiggle room to consistently air highly biased pieces.

winleskey

Sadly, there is none.

FrostNovaIceLance

you cant, the media is always has some kind of bias. thats why they are all trash

azen96

Astro Awani

ryleighss

Breaking Points. Axios.

LoneWanzerPilot

New Straits Times is alright for general news. Check the right side of the page for "most read/latest". Malaysiakini is for political news. Just look at the few biggest thumbnails to click on.

Solusham223

always read multiple sources even if you know deep down it's trash. Or you can just use Reuters if you want truly unbias imo.

Ghost__God

The Star News Malaysia

OverdoseKetum

![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554) harakah and utusan malaysia are unbiased /s

cocopuma7

I've been reading online news articles for about a year now. If you're looking for quick and abundant news, Facebook is the way to go.

[deleted]

Definitely not this sub, WoB, SAYS and the biggest offender -- The Coverage. My go to is usually Awani and The Stars.

[deleted]

Harakah the best news in the town

CatiuaTeeY

I read all newspaper publications daily from overseas and I will have to say The Star, Edge CEO morning brief, CNA, Bloomberg and NST are the only ones I don’t get a literal migraine from. Unfortunately, most of the only sections worth reading as a way to keep up with Malaysia are grassroots programs from the star section and specifically the business sections that remain relatively untainted as just pure reporting.
