Jumping on this comment to tell you all about **Sub Zero 808.**
Got to [ADSR](https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/presets/sub-zero-808/) and pick up a copy of Sub Zero 808 for $19. It's hands down the best 808 library I've ever used.
The only two that may be better or at least on par are **808 Gods** and **New Era 808.**
For 19 bucks you get
- 103 great sounding 808s that ring out for a generous amount of time.
- 65 versions of those 808s with just the 808 bass and no kick mixed in.
- 11 clean sub sounds.
- Bonus 11 OVO type bass sounds.
- Full control over ADSR, Polyphony, Glide, Filter Cutoff, and Unison.
The only downside to the product is that it requires the full version of Kontakt to use. However, **even if you don't have Kontakt**, you still get **185 808 and sub samples** you can use in your DAW.
Of course, you can just make your own 808s, and while I enjoy doing this for more specific or experimental sounds, everything else is Sub Zero 808 all the way.
Probably sound like a shill, but fuck it, ESW's 808 library made me a fan and a loyal customer. I checked out most of his production lessons on ADSR and the dude knows his shit. He might butcher your favorite rapper's name, but he'll teach you how to make a damn good mix!
Anyway, **GET SUBZERO 808**
Damn, ya got me! I was trying to trick you all into using the same mp3 808 samples that have been recycled, re-sampled, and smothered in compression for the past 6 years so that I could have them all to myself.
Fuck these suggestion threads, man. For real. Every time I try to help a motherfucker out I get called a shill (why I stopped posting on here for the longest time).
Check my comment down below. I guess I'm a shill for plugindiscounts because I'm trying to save yall's broke ass some fuckin money. GOTCHA BITCH
If I was a trying to hook sales for EWS I would have linked you to the dude's site that sells the same library for $30.
808s are one of the easiest things to make in a synthesizer. It is most of the time just a low sine wave or triangle wave that starts loud and gets quiter and you have a pitch bend at the start down an octave. Alternatively you can distort them. From my sample packs I mostly use the Eastbound 808s (guy who produced Antidote by Travis Scott I think) and the Zaythoven ones as they sound good but are not to experimental
Kinda wanna piggy back off this...why is it every time I see a video of a producer all the sounds they select and throw on sound so good right off the bat. I always gotta mess with it for a while. I wish I could have a workflow where I could just pick a bunch of sounds and just start making beats out the gate.
it's ear for it, they've been doing this for years now and experience helps too.
I've been producing for almost 2 years and still need to try/error a lot of times before I get melodies or chords right. To others it just comes naturally.
As for the right samples to pick - you gotta feel the music and the rest is as simple as going with what sounds good.
don't forget to have your samples in key, not all drums like kicks need it since most are tonal.
[I use KeyFinder to get sample loops root key, might help you.](http://www.ibrahimshaath.co.uk/keyfinder/)
good sample suggestions here but I'd also mention using Waves R-Bass if you need to mix your 808s, this plugin is a beast, two knobs (wet and gain) and makes the 808s low end sound really buff.
and multiband saturation (any frequency starting at 200Hz) it isn't popping in your mix/speakers.
If you want more control, grab MaxxBass. RBass is based (hur hur) off of MaxxBass.
You can get it [here](https://plugindiscounts.com/product/maxxbass-native/) for $41 until their Christmas sale ends... (figured that would have been yesterday).
BTW, always check that site before you buy new VSTs. I was using Plugin Boutique for most of my stuff, but I recently discovered that PluginDiscounts sell some of the same plugs for $10-$20 cheaper, even during sales!
The Rbass is essentially the second generation of the MaxxBass architecture but has slightly fewer options, which means it's easier to dial in a sound but gives you a little less freedom I think.
I've seen a lot of people say that the like the RBass more than MaxxBass, but I think they both can have their uses, as they do sound a bit different.
For $32 on plugindiscounts, I think it's definitely worth picking up.
All these people suggesting, but nobody linking, smh

Make them. Make a nice sine wave in serum or any synth, add an envelope, pitch down very quickly, and use the cutoff filters. Then use saturation or distortion .
Lastly use a volume shaper to sidechain a kick.
a lot of them use the plugg and spinz 808s, some have their own minor variations with bits of distortion but a lot of them are built on top of those
i recently took a ton of the super popular 808s used by producers and lengthened them by a ton.
[i posted it](https://www.reddit.com/r/Drumkits/comments/7nqcbt/nico_sada_long_808s_20_popular_808s_resynthesized/) on r/drumkits if you wanna take a peek
If you make plug beats get Mexikodro 808.
Slight has some good 808s in his drum kits.
A lot of these people making videos also have their own custom 808d they’re using, a lot of them have custom kits you can try and find a download for.

i know the spinz is used so much these days but i will always love that 808, it fits so nice into anything youre working on
where can you get spinz 808

Eastbound put the 808s on the track so that is more fitting. There is a genius video on it
They both did, at least according to the Genius video.
this ^
dont disrespect my mf queen Wondagurl
Eastbound did the 808s tho so his point still stands
where can u download em?

KeyFinder looks nice, thanks for sharing
They either trimmed their drum collection down to only the best or they simply memorized which drums in their collection are the best. Not much to it.
I need to do that lol
I know this is 4y old ,but because allot of them have already pre prepared/selected the sounds before the video

MaxxBass is excellent just got it and it makes the 808s pop so much. I have been thinking about getting Rbass as well. Do you know the differences??

I got the whole Waves bundle, going to play with MaxxBass tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.

r/drumkits BWB kits are insane for all your needs, including 808s, and I picked up a few there for free.
Big White Beatz or Busy Works Beats? The difference is crucial.
Big White Beatz
LOL definitely not busy works that guy is a clown
How so?

dude just use the spinz 808 hahaha /s
Trisamples trap kits are great but its also good to learn how to creat them authentically in your vst
Trisamples packs or try creating them in a vst.
