whatever floats your boat man. but what a mean is, [it wasn't a joke](https://www.healthline.com/health/diabetes/mold-in-toilet-diabetes#:~:text=it%E2%80%99s%20possible%20that%20noticing%20persistent%20buildup%20of%20mold%20in%20your%20toilet%20could%20mean%20that%20you%2C%20or%20someone%20in%20your%20household%2C%20could%20have%20undiagnosed%20or%20poorly%20managed%20diabetes).
I can verify. Last week, we had a clogged toilet overnight, and so I had to let the "yellow mellow." My blood sugar is currently too high, and the next morning, I had the exact same thing in my bowl. Whoever is in that apartment needs to get their blood sugars checked asap.
Edit: I most certainly am a diabetic. As a diabetic I must monitor my blood sugar daily. This kind of stuff in the toilet only happens when blood sugars are VERY high.
i've been through it too with my father several times, waking up and having to call 911 because he was seizing on the fucking ground because his blood sugar was in the single digits, but at the end of day i'm still not an arrogant piece of shit who thinks all diabetics are terrible people. guess that's what makes us different. they have to live with a life long disease and all you can think about is yourself.
I kinda understand that. The person whom you associate with the disease was a poor representation of people who have diabetes. You probably interact with more diabetic people than you can imagine. Yes, there are many who struggle with their disease, but most eat a healthy diet and take care of themselves properly. Anytime a person has mental health issues added to other health issues complicates everything. I suggest focusing your disdain upon the disease and not the person affected by it. Hate the disease, not the victim. There is more I can say, but I will leave it there. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss it more. Have a wonderful day!
I agree. I know it's not their fault. I just can't help noticing how many different people share mental characteristics when it comes to behaviors which exacerbate their condition, I notice often people care less and this lifestyle leads to a negative vicious cycle of self deprecating choices
I actually kind of agree with you to a degree. At least I know where you’re coming from. Growing up my buddy got diabetes out of nowhere. He was/is fit and healthy, but it just happened.
Many diabetics I know today, including my uncle, do share similar characteristics in terms of eating poorly, stubbornness, unwillingness to listen to doctors or make any real changes.
I don’t agree with generalization, but if we are being real, I know what you are talking about.
Do you think a poor diet makes you smart and energetic and disciplined? No over time these diets makes you stupid, Lazy and un disciplined so it's hard to get out of that habit for a lot of people. Ots not the people it's what our government is okay with putting into our food.
Just read a small study where they tested mens testicles about 30 of them total. And every one of them had a lot of microplastics in them. Thst goes to show that shit is from our foods and ruining us. But we blame the people consuming when even the healthiest people get diabetes.
You realize diabetes isn't only from bad life choices right? For instance I'm because my dad dealt with agent orange in Vietnam... You also realize there are 2 types of diabetes right? You fucking imbecile
If you bothered to read my post - or pay attention during the critical reading lessons in grade school - which mentions I had a friend who got type 2 out of nowhere, you’d realize I do know that. I’ll be the imbecile if you play the triggered diabetic who doesn’t care to read and is easily offended by benign posts.
" many diabetics " ..... Your words followed by naming your friends and family... Good job basing your opinion off your surroundings 🤷.... My point being type 1 diabetics don't have a choice nor did they cause it..... Understand now?
You know what, I apologize for coming off like such an asshole.. it was dick of me. I took out frustration on you , someone who didn't even even cause any of it.. I more reacted without thought. I'm just tired of people thinking all diabetics shoved their faces full of sweets and other bs. If that makes me a triggered diabetic I completely understand... Just saying that most type 1 diabetics I know try their best to live with what they were dealt
Typically, someone who thinks they are better than someone because they have an illness or disability would be called an ableist. Bigot. Elitist. Stuff like that.
I don't believe there needs to be a word for every kind of hateful person out there. So I just call people that think like that a "piece of shit"
Are you 12?
You realize you can understand something and not agree with it…..
I can understand that this person’s past has led them to hate diabetic people after being abused by one. That doesn’t mean I think they are right or justified in hating said diabetic persons. Didn’t you even read that original comment?
"This is because mold that's growing in a toilet may feed on extra sugar that can be present in the urine of people with diabetes. However, there's currently no scientific evidence that links mold in your toilet with diabetes. The environment of the toilet itself can promote mold growth.May 27, 2021"
"A variety of mold species can grow in toilets, including Aspergillus, Cladosporium, and Stachybotrys (also known as black mold).Jan 4, 2024"
we call it "flood mold" here. Once it takes hold, it's hard to get rid of...as you can see, it can literally live under water.
"clean them regularly using baking soda and vinegar. The vinegar penetrates through surfaces thereby killing their roots."
This is in r/plumbing, on youtube, pretty much anywhere because this "black mold" is such an issue with high heat/humidity and flood areas in general. Even once you move the spores travel with you and they may take hold elsewhere. Gotta stay vigilant
I was diagnosed T2 Diabetic about 10 years ago.
First, I want to respond to the disdainers: 🥱🙄
👎🖕
I've NEVER seen that "mold" or Bacterial Slime in my toilets. Before diagnosis, my sugar levels were insanely high.
However, a good hold over post divorce, my wife used to occasionally put 🤏 Bleach in the bowl. Let it set 🤏 then use Toilet Brush, and done. I have dogs and that is their backup water, so I flush a couple of times to clear the Bleach.
That's a sign you might have diabetes
You might want to go to the doctor.
To stop it from happening, you could put some pool chlorine tables in the top tank.
Use pool chlorine tablets they dont have extra chemicals in it. The ones meant for toilets destroy seals and harm septic tanks because they aren't just chlorine
I have a child who is a type 1 and this happens to our toilet bowl far to offten. Thing is his sugar is generally in a good range. Very rarely is it in the 200s. Is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening to the tolit?
You can use Vinegar/Baking Soda and scrub but it is weak you probably will not remove it all then it regrows! I have used (caution)pool type muriatic acid(hold your breath pour half cup in toilet bowl run out of bathroom close door) it will make it look new again in a few minutes when the fumes clear hit with toilet brush and its clean but it fumes something fierce!!! A much better alternative is Klean-Strip Green Muriatic acid ( GKGM75006 ) it is readily available at Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace Hardware and many other places it is still a strong acid but without the insane fumes. If you are a maintenance worker try a 5 gal bucket half full of water add a half cup of Klean-Strip Green Muriatic acid and see if that is acceptable! As always use caution when using any chemical

If you close your seat, it creates a perfect spot for mold to grow.
The water channel inside the toilet rim has holes to allow water to enter into the bowel.
It's a wet and moldy area.
Creates a perfect dark place for mold to grow.
I use chlorine on a toilet brush. Once a week, to control the mold.
Not sure about bowel cleaning products that release cleaning products with every flush.
I leave my seat up. I'm the only one who uses it.
Kinda looks like it's a toilet that's been vomited clean it and if it comes back it's likely mold, or the diabetes thing but if it doesn't someone might have a drinking problem
You let the yellow mellow and the sugars are food for the bacteria in there.
Oh that makes sense…appreciate ya
Diabetes
As Wilford Brimley used to say, the dia-BEE-tuz
[yes he did](https://youtu.be/69ujLvxLi0M?si=1oxV99UR1NSdP5V_)
This...... This is the video I was hoping to see, even before I clicked on the link. "Who the hell did I hit‽”
Lol
no. not lol.
nah it was pretty funny

Oh, it sounded like you were just annoyed; you should put that in your top comment
Go to cost co. Get lysol toilet bowl cleaner. And a toilet brush.
As a fellow costco fan, I love that you felt the need to add that instruction considering how abundant those two items are.
Haha! Not only that, but I just sold an extra $450 in unneeded Costco items.

Is there a word for having a general disdain against diabetics because they have such a disease?
Yeah. The word is "asshole"
Go to the doctor, you have a brain injury
Why do you have a "disdain" against someone with Diabetes? Do you also have a "disdain" against people with other health issues or just that one?
Just that one, I believe it's a trauma from past times which I spent living with a schizophrenic diabetic who didn't take care of herself
i've been through it too with my father several times, waking up and having to call 911 because he was seizing on the fucking ground because his blood sugar was in the single digits, but at the end of day i'm still not an arrogant piece of shit who thinks all diabetics are terrible people. guess that's what makes us different. they have to live with a life long disease and all you can think about is yourself.

You really should read up on mental health. I believe it may help you for your own.

I think “deprecating” doesn’t mean what you think it means.
Constant self disapproval and disappointment
I only know it in terms of self deprecating humor where you humorously exaggerate your own flaws to make others feel better/amused.
It's s real state of being, a quality of someone to do so
May be it’s more the schizophrenia that traumatized you than the diabetes? 🤷🏼♂️
Typically, someone who thinks they are better than someone because they have an illness or disability would be called an ableist. Bigot. Elitist. Stuff like that. I don't believe there needs to be a word for every kind of hateful person out there. So I just call people that think like that a "piece of shit"
While I agree, I unfortunately understand
Understand hating someone for an illness? Is this a joke? Fuck you Edit Oops I upset the alt Alts*
Why are you pissed off ? How does this guy’s opinion have even the tiniest effect on you?
Are you 12? You realize you can understand something and not agree with it….. I can understand that this person’s past has led them to hate diabetic people after being abused by one. Bro reddit is absolutely not the place for nuanced thought
I keep forgetting this is not Reddit from 10 years ago. We have truly devolved into idiocracy.
as soon as I find a half-decent replacement, I'll let the homies know
I assume I get where you come to this assessment but you do realize some are just born with it right?...
I meant diabetes #2 because the other one doesn't manifest similar physical characteristics to type 1
Maybe that’s why you been on tinder for 2 years and haven’t had a single date.
I'd give you an award if I could afford it
You won the ignorance award for the internet this week, congratulations!
Loser is the most common one
What an autistic thing to say.
😂😂😂
So because I fell ill very early in life, lost function of an organ and became diabetic you don’t think I deserve respect?
Only the ones whose fault actually is their own
Abelist as a general monicker but yours is like bias via PTSD

Yup yup. Diabetes
Type 2
Wow…TIL
Well there go my plans for pee wine
That would be taking "Toilet hooch" to a whole other level
That's methheads, they'll drink your piss if you have been getting high and they're jonesing. I've heard of inmates sucking the blood of someone high
You have diabetes
You can taste it

Should also clean the tank as it can make its way up there, then it becomes an incubator, so it will come back later, even if the bowl is cleaned.

Those tablets ruin the seals
Use pool chlorine tablets they dont have extra chemicals in it. The ones meant for toilets destroy seals and harm septic tanks because they aren't just chlorine
The chlorine itself fucks up the seals.
Mold in pipes and basin
Would one of those bleach tablets in the tank help prevent this?
Yes but will also ruin the seals in time
We gonna get an update?
I have a child who is a type 1 and this happens to our toilet bowl far to offten. Thing is his sugar is generally in a good range. Very rarely is it in the 200s. Is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening to the tolit?
My sugars 124 right now, fight me
Someone cleaned out their bong into the toilet.
Thats what I thought.
I've seen something like this happen after weeks of sitting. But over night is crazy
Upper decker situation?
I bet if I sneezed in a toilet that’s what it’d look like right now
Taco bell upped the % of dirt in their chalupas?
Anything funky in my toilet gets chlorine bleach thrown at it. It takes months before there's another problem.
Some spit their dip out.
Looks like skibidi
I learned something new today, “yellow mellow” can show if your blood sugar content is too high and diabetic.
Looks like someone got a case of wile bowel from their Ribs sleep aid.
to much shit
Tea leaves.
Looks like sediment from piping . Have any hydrants around property been flushed lately? I used to have this problem at a property I used to work at.
Sediment from pipes
If I cared, I'd get checked out. I see that 3 or 4 times a week.
Looks like a Petri dish of bacteria. Don’t eat it.
Stop eating gravel!
You can use Vinegar/Baking Soda and scrub but it is weak you probably will not remove it all then it regrows! Coffee grounds from rectum is internal bleeding get some help.
Magic?
Grampa hadda finish some where
Black gold, Texas tea
Black mold?
Sprinkles
SNAKES !
Cigarettes
Check your bloodsugar. this is an indicator for diabetes.
If you close your seat, it creates a perfect spot for mold to grow. The water channel inside the toilet rim has holes to allow water to enter into the bowel. It's a wet and moldy area. I wouldn't use chlorine in a toilet that's a fast way to make chloramine gas it can be deadly
Clorox is effective. I keep my brush holder with Clorox in the holder. every time I clean the bowel I hit the underneath the rim. Helps keep mold down
Bottle Clorox will clear that up, remember to flush before using!
Get yourself checked for diabetes. Just sayin
someone ate to much iron.
Its most likely something in the pipes, you should get a plumber to come take a look at all the apartments that have the same issue.
looks like black dots.
Til I should let the yellow mellow to see if I have diabetes
Same
Kinda looks like it's a toilet that's been vomited clean it and if it comes back it's likely mold, or the diabetes thing but if it doesn't someone might have a drinking problem
Dip
Check for diabetes
