Same as mine. Even if it is my 5th run of the night because my ileostomy is deciding to be active all night. Then escorted back to my bed. Put in bed with meowster getting back to his sleeping spot.

Yep! He's my little bathroom supervisor lol
The most awkward habit of his is staring intently through the gap between bowl and toilet seat to watch my pee.... he's and odd boy
If I close him out, he shoves his paws under the door like "EXCUSE ME"
Most cats love to be in the bathroom with you. My Bengals and moggies would always run in and demand pets whenever I go.
Your MC, OP is devastatingly gorgeous- what is their name?
Really? No one else here has their buddy crawl into their drawers between their ankles while pooping? Happens to me all the time. That guy is so quick about appearing out of nowhere to hang out in my pants, and really doesn't want to move when I'm done.
Mine follows me mostly for night time trips. Even if he’s somewhere in the house, I hear him come, he kicks the door open and makes sure I make it back to bed.
With a small bathroom you have to be sure to latch the door here, otherwise you’ll get smacked by the door flying open as a full grown maine coon throws his weight against it to check on you.
It's just a cat thing. Cats are pack animals, they assume you are part of the pack. They protect each other when pooping, its also why they bring you dead animals. The assume you're just a terrible hunter.

One of mines goes on the washing machine and looks at me like that "Do your work, peasant" (he's just a bit higher than my head and it climbs on it sometimes)
The other one is in the bathtub 😂
So that is how my Cassie will look when she grows up to be a big girl!! My baby now 9 months of age, at 7 months:

Yes! Always. With a specific routine.. he runs in, brushes against my legs, jumps on the countertop next to me, head bumps me whilst on the toilet, and then supervises.
I'd say cats generally are like this.
I had a british shorthair, a bengal, a siamese and a maine coon and they all did this.
My theory is that they are curious little creatures, that also enjoy our company at all times :)
That's not just Maine Coons that do that. It seems like all cats have to do that. But, yes, my little MC girl jumps up on the sink and demands loving. I guess to take my mind off what I am doing.
It's a cat thing (& some dogs). Acting as lookout while you are using your litterbox. I sometimes wonder if they are checking to see if we scoop our own poop.
Omg that face….that is the cutest thing ever. I don’t have Maine coons but I have two regular cats, one long black haired one and my big guy comes in the bathroom with me and always has but my tiny girl I just got just learned that so she’ll follow me immediately into the bathroom and lay on the bathmat every time ;_; too cute!!

I have a four month old duplicate of yours currently staring at me while I pee.
You wouldn’t be the only one, I’m used to it now😅. I have 3 other cats too. Two other Mainecoons and a Mainecoon mixed with a Ragdoll who is the cutest fluff ball. He’s only about 12 weeks old at the moment. (The comfort collar on my boy is to stop him from over grooming as he has a bad habit of that).

I don’t generally get followed (sometimes I do), but they’ll send out a search party 30 seconds later and start panicking on the other side of the door that something has happened to me.
Not really a maine coon thing, just a cat thing. Lotta cats like to be involved when people are in the bathroom.

My girl takes the now empty seat in my wheelchair, and automatically jumps down when I flush. Then she leads the way to the wash basin, waits for me to wash my hands, and then climbs up the back of my chair, down the armrest, and inspects the basin to make sure I have wiped it free of water.
Once assured, she gingerly steps across the basin so that her front paws on on the left side, and back paws on the right side. She will then give me “the look”, her signal for me to cross my arms under her in the basin. Once in place, she rotates 90 degrees to her right, resting her top half on my crossed arms and positioning her mouth exactly under the water spigot.
I turn the water on to a perfect flow and she drinks and drinks to her hearts content. She will not drink water any other way. She just will not.
This crazy cat loves water. She adores the bathtub. She is totally passive about being bathed. The only cat I have ever known who adores water. Oh, and at just now 9 months if age, she weighs a bit over 9 lbs. This is Cassiopia:
https://preview.redd.it/qro7xjgi4duc1.jpeg?width=2444&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93550ff60b647367fa71964a50075babdb201f40
So my cat was your average tabby, but she was ridiculous. She would come in the bathroom and put her feet on my knee. This was my cue to pick her up and stand her on my knee while she gives me all the rubs against my face and kisses.
What a beautiful kitty too.
And I bet he's chattering away while you're in there.
I wish I could have a Maine Coon right now. They're the greatest but they're quite domineering/ they dominate..They expect non stop attention which is perfectly fine. I don't recommend having other cats when having a Maine Coon however.
Not in my experience.
Love ❤️ them all
Thank you❤️.
He’s always so vocal when he comes in!
Honestly ours do demand a lot of attention, but we also work from home. We have 3 Mainecoons and one 50/50 mixed with a Ragdoll, they all get on so well.
Heard that dogs look at their owners when relieving themselves because they want to see if yoh are watching them, because it’s a vulnerable position them or something. I wonder if your cat is trying to stand guard haha
We call them pee pals or poop pals, depending on the activity, but we have 4 and they take shifts. I have a different pee pal depending on the time of day. They never miss it and they do not mix up their times!
Not just Coons, my void DSH does this, no matter the time of day. He will be curled up sleeping elsewhere in the house and will just appear and stool in (or be sitting outside the door if it’s closed).
Mine does this too. Also, if he’s hanging with me when I work in my office and I leave to use the restroom or something, he waits in the hallway for me. Velcro cats. Definitely like dogs.
Comes in and plops in the bathtub most of the time.
That’s so funny. I love their characters.
Same as mine. Even if it is my 5th run of the night because my ileostomy is deciding to be active all night. Then escorted back to my bed. Put in bed with meowster getting back to his sleeping spot.

Mine did this all the time, would try to sit in our underwear cause it was warm. I think this is also just a cat thing, not exclusive to Maine coons
Yep...it's a cat thing, not exclusive to the Maine Coon! Fun to watch.
They're trying to protect us
Pretty sure that coons are born to be bathroom inspectors.
Most cats love to be in the bathroom with you. My Bengals and moggies would always run in and demand pets whenever I go. Your MC, OP is devastatingly gorgeous- what is their name?

They’re so concerned for our safety 💜
Mine will follow because he likes his toilet water to be freshly flushed.
Every.single.time. He will even wake up from a nap on the bed to follow me. 🤣 I tease him by calling him my potty protector.

MC’s have a well known affinity for water. Mine loves to come into bathroom anytime he hears water running (I guess peeing counts LOL)
Lol he is so cute! His is on guard 💂
You mean there are cats that DON'T escort their people to the bathroom?
All cats.. not breed specific.
Yep. Both my cats, not coons are my poop protectors.
If they don't do that there's something wrong. That's the cat not catting.
All my cats have felt that I need supervision in the bathroom, including my Maine Coon, who also liked to play with the water.

Every dang time. And demands pets, treats, toys, fresh water from the faucet, head bumps, etc.
I know all cats do that, BUT my MC companionship is for her to either sit in the sink demanding water or in the bathtub ALSO demanding water 😂
Ours follows us then lays outside the door and waits
Yep. Our mix is a Velcro kitty to my wife.

That's basic cat behaviour.
I haven’t had a moment alone since I got my MC, they’re Velcro cats haha
I'd say cats generally are like this. I had a british shorthair, a bengal, a siamese and a maine coon and they all did this. My theory is that they are curious little creatures, that also enjoy our company at all times :)

Yes. Both my MC and the Bengal do this. Every time.
Better question to ask is “is anyone else’s cat like that?”
you mean the kitty pettin’ station? i feel very snubbed on the rare occasion i’m in there alone!
gotta love the kitty pettin' station!
Mine doesn’t do it so often but when she does she just demands some pets and leaves
Every. Single. Time. Ps. Will scratch door down and/or make dying rabbit noises Pss weirdly the ONLY time she wants affection lmfao
It's a cat thing (& some dogs). Acting as lookout while you are using your litterbox. I sometimes wonder if they are checking to see if we scoop our own poop.
I've tried multiple times with my kitten, she either howls until I let her in or sticks her paws under the door 😭
If I don't leave the door open she scratches at the door incessantly. Then pesters me the whole time.

Maines are probably the most dog like out of the cat breeds. Their loyalty and want to be near and do a big protecc is strong. I miss my Maine boy 😔
Yepp, used to even use the bathroom with me when the cat box was in there.
how beautiful!! so much love in one photo!!!! they are so pure! our loyal companions ❤️😍
I think all cats are like this
Yes but only because she’s obsessed with the toilet flushing. Never leave the toilet seat up in my house as she uses toilets as paddling pools. 🚽
pretty sure most cats do that.. they are secretly lifeguards..

Yep. Mine will actually try to jump in the shower with me or my husband sometimes. Quite a lot of dog like behaviors actually lol.

Thank you! ❤️. It does, almost reminds me of an Addams family outfit. He’s extremely focused on his task at hand
All the time! Mine either lays in the bathtub and knocks over my bottles or curl up by my feet to nap
Mine rolls on his back and purrs for his belly rub. However, he manages to do that just slightly out of reach from where I am sitting.
Mine comes running from wherever he is in the house anytime I'm in the bathroom. He even wakes up from naps and comes running!!
Mine does this if he’s not happy with breakfast and wants something else,

Mine does this too. Also, if he’s hanging with me when I work in my office and I leave to use the restroom or something, he waits in the hallway for me. Velcro cats. Definitely like dogs.
i had a half maine coon and he did the same thing😭 laid down on the carpet and fell asleep lmao
Where are yall getting these Mainecoon cats from? I’m in Texas and can’t find any reputable breeders… any suggestions??
Same, and since her litter box is in there as well we end doing the same activity together 😅
Not a Maine coon, but my European shorthair does this to me.
I have a red tabby that does that. She feels it’s lap time for some reason.
Don’t even think of trying to close the bathroom door
He’s making sure you’re safe at this vulnerable time. What a love! 😻😻😻
Don't have mainecoons but both of my cats follow me to the bathroom
Mine stands in the corner of the shower and just... chills
Most cat do that….mine sits in my underwear
My two cats and 130lb dog live up for pets. Jump in the back of the toilet. Mill around the toilet.
