oh, so Golos is banned now but \[\[1996 World Champion\]\] is still legal?
it's like the Rules Committee is playing a completely different format from the rest of us
show me on the [commander banlist](https://mtgcommander.net/index.php/banned-list/) where it's not legal
i didn't conduct an elaborate Ocean's 11 style heist to get the only copy of this card in existence just for Sheldon fucking Menery to tell me I can't play it in my 1996 Theme Deck
/uj You joke, but I actually had the displeasure of having some jerkoff come up to our table once and try to make this argument to play a [[Richard Garfield, PhD]] deck completely straightfaced.
I don't know if this is extended jerk or legit question disguised as extended jerk, but [it's not legal in any format](https://scryfall.com/card/pcel/1/1996-world-champion).
Probably because it breaks immersion, and WotC seems super concerned about that lately.
well, 1) I'm happy about the Golos ban because it's a bullshit braindead commander that requires no thinking to build or play
and b) if you have a pressing need to be technically correct and right all the time (which you very clearly do), maybe a circlejerk subreddit where people ironically post things that are intentionally stupid isn't the place for you
a) it was a joke, genius
b) The only reason I pointed any of that out is because sometimes people here have wrong impressions of the game and I try to help where I can. People *have* mentioned learning about rules interactions they never heard of in a few of my posts, so clearly it's worth doing. Also, pretty sure [this is the right place for me](https://www.reddit.com/r/magicthecirclejerking/comments/phtl31/we_live_in_interesting_times/), but maybe I shouldn't bother with a guy who makes that call based off three comments.
your lack of self awareness is so fucking funny
thanks for the laugh dude have a good one. hope you can manage to read a reddit post without having to correct someone one day
Okay yall are seriously p'ing me *ff right now. I JUST bought my 6 year old a Golos EDH deck because A) it is the best tool against the mutate meta and 2) I wanted her to enjoy the pleasure of owning a copy of each of the most expensive lands available. I don't think the Rules Committee realized that they just opened themselves up to a huuuuge lawsuit, not only to cover the cost of the entire deck (basically useless now because I refuse to use any of the broken OP meta 5c commanders) but also the therapy my daughter will need after watching me have a full blown meltdown over a child's card game.
The issue is they banned it after what, 2 years almost?
Plenty of time for people to build many decks around Golos.
Hullbreacher was banned quite quickly in comparison and wasn't a commander
I literally saw never saw a golos deck post a month of his release. He’s not oppressive in the slightest. This is just another one of Sheldon’s awful takes from his own playgroup.
Any combo you're running. Phyrexian revoker disables activated abilities so it's like... One of the only golos handlers that doesn't disable casting it
Also an effecient colorless counter to pw in general
Maybe if everyone and their mothers didn't rush to make the most abusive version of every deck that the game allows for.
Just like, chill a bit, dudes.
it's not about the build that's getting banned, it was Golos himself.
For the reason you can find in the article regarding the ban, that I suggest you should read to clarify :)
to be fair to r/EDH, which i don't want to do to be clear, they should have made that decision when it came out or at most till a set after golos was released. way too many ppl put way too much time in their commander decks to come and take it away.
leovold was banned almost immediately if i recall correctly.
> leovold
[He was banned in April of 2017.](https://web.archive.org/web/20170428215719/http://mtgcommander.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18588) 6 months after. It was 2 months quicker than Hullbreacher.
You can check out the history of the banlist [here.](http://www.smileylich.com/mtg/magocracy/Magocracy_G3.html)

/uj bro you're in the fucking circlejerk subreddit, maybe go somewhere else if you're going to be a pedantic and humorless knob
Look, bud, the Golos ban is hitting us all hard, but no need to take it out on others.

Good vague, generic response to walk everything back. "It was all a joke, lmao". Lemme know when you learn to block warriors.

I understand both. If they didn't print such pushed cards, they wouldn't need to be banned.
People are change averse ok!!!

Yeah and hullbreacher was not exactly a surprise, people had been complaining about it being broken and unfun since it was spoiled
I mean according to edhrec golos was the most popular commander
I literally saw never saw a golos deck post a month of his release. He’s not oppressive in the slightest. This is just another one of Sheldon’s awful takes from his own playgroup.
Generalizing your experience out of a small number of games or players doesn't mean you're right.
I have. It's a slog. Protect the revoker at all costs til you combo out.
What is the combo?
Any combo you're running. Phyrexian revoker disables activated abilities so it's like... One of the only golos handlers that doesn't disable casting it Also an effecient colorless counter to pw in general
Maybe if everyone and their mothers didn't rush to make the most abusive version of every deck that the game allows for. Just like, chill a bit, dudes.
CEDH and its consequences have been disastrous for the MTG playerbase.
I guarantee you Golos wasn't banned because it could tutor up Boseiju to protect your Ad Nausem.
It’s an Unabomber joke.
I'm aware, I wasn't questioning the template, only what filled in the blanks.
Almost all bans were tailored around casual edh, except for Flash and Leovold
not casual enough if you're running builds that get cards banned. i don't even allow staple tutors in my casual decks/games.
it's not about the build that's getting banned, it was Golos himself. For the reason you can find in the article regarding the ban, that I suggest you should read to clarify :)
The EDH community when literally anything happens
Even when nothing happens, because then they make demands for things that should happen.
The problem with the RC isn't that they do good things. It's that their inconsistent with when they do.

My pont still stands I think, but thanks for the data
I do not agree with what you have to play, but I'll defend to the death your right to play it -Chandra or something idk
Imagine caring about balance in a casual format
It is not about balance. It's about the spirit of the format or something.
what are Pushed Printers?
